Idk why subaru cant get it together for its enthusiasts. Ask any respectable STI owner what they wanna see in a new wrx. Subarus is lucky they have a fan base that can give them direction but they never seem to take a hint.
Hate to break it to you, but most STi owners can't afford the car "they wanna see." Manufacturers shoot themselves in the foot every time they listen too much. People ask for all this crap and then complain when the thing costs twice as much as it did 20 years ago. Then everyone decides they'll just wait till it hits the used market and the car gets killed off after a short run. Happened to the Focus RS and TTRS. Currently happening to the manual Supra and Z. Why do you think Honda won't realase an AWD type R despite people begging for one? Believe it or not, these billon dollar companies know exactly what they're doing. Now, if you want me to get into why we don't have a hatchback wrx in the States, that's a different story, but I know their reasoning and it makes perfect sense.
@@rawevoli100%! The new WRX is selling well and to be honest, Subaru is listening! The new TR got brembos, and better suspension for the track, they fixed the blinker stalk and they put recaros in the manual. These are all things people asked for! STi is just a name at this point because my ‘24 TR is a better car than my STi ever was!
The STI can’t meet EPA requirements that’s why the new VB has 0W-20 and a restricted transmission/engine. Even the crosstrek and Impreza is using 0W-16 now to meet EPA. By law manufacturers have to have a cross-fleet MPG average of 40-45MPG which is why every manufacturer has at least 1 electric and 1 hybrid to factor in their MPG.
@Matithias Sure, the 30 year old EJ couldn't meet new EPA standards. Do you really think subaru couldn't build a high output engine that would meet requirements like every other manufacturer? Of course they could. The problem is if their consumers could afford it.
@@rawevolisure. Id live to hear why we dont have a wrx hatch anymore. My theory is just that hatchbacks dont sell as well in the US and hot hatches are a very aquired taste for americans. All of my non-car guy friends say they dont like the look of hatchbacks
I just don’t understand why they made the TR trim for one model year just to replace it. Why not just make the tS starting in 2024 or not make the TR at all
I think maybe it just wasn't ready? Or they were waiting on approvals or something? I have been working HARD to get someone from Subaru on my channel so I can ask these questions.
I am plan on purchasing a tS next year. Purchased a 2024 outback wilderness for my wife last September and I fell in love with Subaru. Nissan used to be my favorite but I can’t fit my family in a Z and maxima went boomer!
also in the day where you can order a car, why isn't the STI transmission just an option you can order from the factory shit does not make sense. I would much rather pay 5-6k for the transmission over the moonroof + sound system for 3k. seriously.
The interior is more tasteful in the TR but most of us are suckers for nostalgia and I wish the bright blue made it to the carpet . Just throw a sti trans in from the factory too easy!
Picked up a '24 premium with the HK audio and a moonroof in Solar Orange Pear. My first Subaru. I absolutely love it! Just put on an MBRP axle-back, and really that is all I need. I got it on sale, and it was only $1k over a base in price!
I bet it will be more expensive.. from today until next year the inflation can still go up.. my bet is around 43-45K.. im thinking off jumping the gun on the TR but will it be hard to get parts for it since it will only be a 1 year model?
Seems like a blunder on Subaru's part to jave the TR for one year and replace it. Or maybe the Ts will only be one year and we'll get a special model with more options in 2026?
I don’t think the TR got a steering wheel change. The power steering was retuned. And I’m pretty sure it’s been retuned for a trims for 2024, not just the TR. One that happens, it’s unnecessary to announce updated power steering tuning for follow on model years. In fact it would be incorrect and misleading.
IF/WHEN the STi returns it'll probably be out of price range for people interested in it. And if not, you can get more car for the same amount of cash.
I don’t understand why the TR can’t just get an Sti 6speed and they charge us more money for it lol. It’s got everything the STI needs besides the trans. Yes maybe a larger stock turbo/tune would help but we can do that all ourselves. But STILL. We just need the trans!!! This is coming from someone who already bought a 6speed 😂
I record in my unfinished basement. The audio is usually colored with extra natural reverb. That's probably what you're hearing. I've been considering getting divider walls to help with sound reflection.
@@who____cares The TS isn't out until later this year and early next year. I think the TR was just a stopgap however I think the TR is still going to be somewhat relevant because the TS has the adaptive suspension. For people who want to modify the car it's probably still better to get the TR because it's going to be a waste of money to get the TS and put coilovers because then you lose the adaptability.
@@HeavyMetalWRX yeah I pai about 29 OTD for mine back in the day. IF the STi returns it'll most likely be low 50k minimum starting. But for that much you could get a 'better' car.
shoulda also add the sti oem exhaust , front lip back lip side lip and wheel all that STI stuff if they want the name stand for TUNED BY STI...but I guess the price gonna be adding more 10000-15000 which thats why they won't do it hahahah. just leave it to the buyer to want to pay more, smart choice
So... for 2026, tS gets canceled, and we will get... TT? Kinda wish they would keep the TR's lack of adaptive suspension for those who plan on gutting the suspension and put on the coilovers, and keep the prices down. But my take on tS is that Subaru is learning... but they sure ain't implementing changes fast enough. With Supra's departure coming sooner than expected, I am watching closely on Subaru's moves. I can buy either car right now, but neither one is exactly what I want. It's either the last of the mk. 5 Supra for me, or Subaru, please give me a damn STi already. I don't care if it's 60k, and even that sounds reasonable at this point, before the dawn of hybridization. Like i said before on your video, Toyota may barely pull off the hybrid powertrain with manual. With Subaru, I sincerely doubt that. For them its either full EV or hybrid cvt, and how the hell they expect people to buy into a new STi moniker with that setup when they botched VB gen so badly with packaging and offerings? The VB was developed with the intent of creating STi, and it shows. Please get somebody from Subaru, even if you have to kidnap that person, and we want answers.
I think we talked about this. There's over a dozen manual hybrid cars around the world. It's not a difficult task. It's just there's not much of a market for people who want both so it doesn't happen often. If Subaru legit goes hybrid power with the STI it'll be a manual, no doubt.
@HeavyMetalWRX I mean... that would be nice, I would not mind hybrid STi if they do pull it off with manual transmission and all the past sins(?!) will be forgiven in my book, but... it's that credibility with Subaru. It's just far too radical to think that Subaru can even pull that off. They are... a very conservative company when it comes to engineering, and tend to slowly build and learn what they want to do, and go all out at it. I just hope the digital dash can be bought and installed on lower trims

I actually like this upgrade. Its basically the jdm version of the Top trim wrx, but with a manual
Now they just need a mid-gen refresh for that atrocious rear bumper cover
I like the tS but would still pick the TR. i just do not really want a digital gauge

Personally like the TR interior better. Nostalgia and that blue only goes so far when you're a few years into owning a car imo.
There's a red TR in Altoona Pennsylvania for $40,000
