    A few things:
    1: you are a TITAN of castle building
    2: would it be possible for you to release your SketchUp files as a guide for those of us who are... "architecturally challenged"?

      It's a castle created by someone who is an expert in castle design. Created to be impregnable.
      If someone can make it to the vault and take just one thing, they have managed to conquer one of thee greatest castles in the game.
      Someone who can do that can pretty much get into any castle in the game. How is that kind of bragging rights not worth it?

      Resources is also a big thing. As shad said, outside of creative, his clan had to gather quite a bit of resources to build it, which kind of makes it even more authentic. I haven't playerd this game, but Ark Survival Evolved is similar in ome ways, and I have been in a group who doesn't do much resource gathering so have spent ungodley amount of time gathering resources to build our bases in Ark.

  • @philhsueh4860
    @philhsueh4860 6 ปีที่แล้ว +51

    Very nice, it really does look pretty un-raidable. One thing that you guys need to do to make your base even better protected is to sink foundations all around the perimeter of your base far enough out so that people can't build trebuchets within range of your castle. You can also reinforce your walls and foundations by adding fence foundations to them, this provides an additional layer that has to be broken through before getting to the wall or foundation itself.
    Your clan needs to build the other shrines since you can learn more than one religion. Mitra is a very handy one since you can make Ambrosia at Mitra shrines and Ambrosia works as healing potions and are quicker and easier to make than aloe potions and, unless things have changed, you can use them in combat unlike bandages and wraps. Yog is handy for making meat that never rots, Ymir allows you to build high end arrows, and I have no idea what benefits Derketo provides. I think that your castle is large enough for at least another shrine or two so you might as well take advantage of that and maybe consider building some sort of annex for even more shrines.

      very raid-able. everyone thinks people are going to do a proper siege, all you have to do grease orb and fireorb the spikes. then blow in threw the top of the base. gas orb the thralls. and trebs are used alot. just alot of people use them improperly.

    • @PsylomeAlpha
      @PsylomeAlpha 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      since I got minecraft I've wanted to build a whole city by hand. I've been working on one for about six months now, though mainly as busy-work I've been building the walls around the nation whose name hasn't been decided yet when I can't think of house ideas.

    • @ginge641
      @ginge641 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jabun The Wanderer I was building a large city in a build server and I realised that I needed more space than my plot would allow but I never figured out mcEdit before I got burned out and stopped. I then tried to find my builds on that server again recently. It turned out it was reset a few times since my last session.
      Yeah, there is a lot of busywork with walls. My advice would be to get World edit and paste the pattern across the stretch of wall.

    • @PsylomeAlpha
      @PsylomeAlpha 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The whole point of this is I wanted to hand-craft the city, so the closest thing I've done is being "cheaty" and using creative mode.

    • @ginge641
      @ginge641 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jabun The Wanderer You can still use commands and hand craft it. You could paste the pattern across the wall and then alter sections along it.

    The deflective properties of round towers are secondary. Their main advantage is simply that they are structurally stronger. It's harder to bring down a round tower either by bombardment or mining because it lacks corners, which are natural structural weak points. Unless the tower is quite small in diameter, there will be essentially no deflective bonus versus a flat face.

  • @angryyogbuscus1578
    @angryyogbuscus1578 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Hey, if build regions are unrestricted, could you possibly construct smaller, more secure, and consequently less livable fortifications near major resources? I think it would also be advantageous to connect these fortified locations with a sort of highway system of elevated foundations acting as roads. These sites could be used as fallback sites for raid parties, as well as serve as interim storehouses for whatever resource the site possessed. The highway system, provided construction is viable, could make it possible to efficiently move resources from these sites to a centralised and heavily fortified storehouse.

And I can't wait to get leveled up to build the ultimate setup. Since I'm more of a solo player, this is going to take a ton of time. That's going to keep me occupied for quite a while. Lo e the fact that I can use a pve server to learn. Purge events will be entertaining as hell once I get all setup.

    I love this castle mate. I really like what you did with the outer stairs in the Bailey and the kill room immediately after. If I were to get through the gates and past the bailey and finally through the door I would be so infuriated at the kill room. Absolutely brilliant. Not only is it incredibly effective but it looks amazing inside.

    something I discovered in my build experimentations, to close off gaps in the reinforced stone/black-ice place walls before you place foundations. the walls will act as a 'skin' to the foundations and add further more hit points to defensive positions

    If I played that game, I would accept that challenge of raiding and raising that castle...
    Question: what happens to damaged castles? Is there a quick repair function, or do you have to repair every stone manually?
    The latter would really suck especially for outposts that are likely to get destroyed multiple times...
    That's my main consideration, as I do love outposts and a bastion-system and vastly prefer it over a single castle.

    • @mr.j7444
      @mr.j7444 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you have to repair each piece manually. and if you destroy all connecting blocks you could wipe out an entire tower so fill an inner tower room with bombs and goodbye towers

    • @edi9892
      @edi9892 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's something that can't happen in a bastion-layout.

      nah my strategy of cover every square inch of a buildins first floor with explosives almost always ends in total collapse not matter the construction problem is taking the first floor and making more bombs than players on the map.

    I love this design so much i built your castle ive slightly altered it by raiseing the entire foundation higher to avoid the problem during the raid where they were easily able to bomb into the rear tower ive made the bottom soild foundation 8 high as well as added a drawbridge connected to a circular tower gatehouse archery tower in the front i wish i had a picture you would probably like it i like yours its great i would not have come up with this version a made without seeing yours great base

    • @samuelhaines3685
      @samuelhaines3685 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There could be some scary stuff...
      In Minecraft you could have regenerating walls (utilizing cobble/stone generators)
      and just about as thick as you could want.
      You could have toggleable tnt cannons and stuff, flying machine only access to upper levels, that can also be disabled, easy transportation, but capable of not allowing your enemy through...
      toggleable lava/or water moats
      ridiculous drawbridges (I've built some myself)
      and some much more

    • @SourceOfBeing
      @SourceOfBeing 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Samuel Haines -
      Trap nametagged Skeletons to shoot the attackers.
      Have a spawner where the only spawnable area is in a different room.
      Put layers of Obsidian or End Stone between each of the regenerating cobblestone walls.
      A Lava 'curtain' that goes from the moat/foundations down to Bedrock level so they can't tunnel underneath.
      Machicolations should be easy enough to add.

    • @samuelhaines3685
      @samuelhaines3685 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, right.
      You could also remove the bedrock. There's methods to do it in survival vanilla
      Attach observers to all of the pistons involved in pushing the cobble stone to then trigger then releasing of nametagged zombies into all the baileys and turn off the lights inside of a mob farm to activate it and cause the mobs to be transported wherever you want to.
      Also I have used machicolations in some of my castle builds. There are multiple ways to add them.
      Also Also nametagged shulkers in a deathzone in building, like the entrance to Shad's keep.
      Players get suspended while taking fire from skeletons (which, as you like proper defense, have all been given best possible enchanted bows)
      Also all the zombies have enchanted diamond swords and armor.

    • @Slayerlord13
      @Slayerlord13 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It can get completely nuts if you also add a ton of mods.
      Ethereal objects that can't be harmed in the physical world but also summon ghosts which deal armour piercing magic damage? Check.
      Illusory blocks which look real but are actually a trap? Check. (probably exist in multiple mods)
      Said trap drops attackers into a device which teleports them far out into some distant ocean thousands of blocks away? Check.
      Oh and of course the ability to make all the blocks indestructible but where's the fun in that?

    • @SourceOfBeing
      @SourceOfBeing 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Samuel Haines -
      Using slabs, you could make it so that the only spawnable areas in the entire building are within the killzone(s) and then keep that in pure darkness. The attackers can have Night Vision potions to let them see without affecting the spawning.
