Damn, that's just...i don't even have words for that.. Regardless, the battle itself was bloody LEGENDARY! This is one of my favourite videos of yours, having been extremely enjoyable to watch (and i don't even play the game!). And, in the end, a propper castle did its job and allowed a smaller number of defenders to hold up against a greater army! (not counting thralls)
That part really bugged me too. I hope Shad is happy with the server he's playing on, but if I was on one that was concerned with keeping things OOC friendly (like talking about not rebuilding during a scheduled raid time) then I wouldn't want to especially play with people who then circumvent that by attacking when the defenders can't get online.
I don't think they didn't rebuild the castle during the raid to keep it a fair fight. I think that is a rule of the server, since at the end of the video they say that they have video proof to the admins that they waited 5 minutes and nothing happened so they assumed the raid was off.

Coordination is key in battle. If the enemy was better organized, they wouldn't have put all the explosives into one man's inventory, letting Shad win the battle by that one looting. And if Shad had his helmet on, his life might have not been saved after 15:32.
Strategy. It is good to be able to tell friends and enemies apart easily, or you'll risk friendly fire. Of course, the reverse can be used to your advantage, so it is an important weighting of pros and cons.
I generally don't care much for watching game footage of games I don't play, because it's too confusing to follow what's going on. The way you swung that big sword around reminded me of that video you made recently about oversized swords. Quite nice that the game makes it a weapon that once you start swinging you can not stop easily. In this game #1 rule of Shad on the battlefield: If Shad wields a big sword, every ally get away or he will cleave through everything to get the enemy. I bet your troops did not flee because they are afraid of their commander more than the enemy.
Well, with several attacks fended off from the largest clan of the server, I’d say that Vanburg was a pretty good castle. Only thing I think you’d need to change is the gates and that back section. That, and more thralls, of course.
A related comment. Shad, ya might want to think layered here. your next castle should have multilayered corridors and trap rooms. This would allow one to site the real vault down there with a fake one up top. A maze where the enemy pays for each twist and turn, room entered, etc... only to find a fake fault would be disheartening to the foe, and perhaps make them leave off the attack. The real trick would be to place the real vault near the fake one in such a way that it looks like either just another trap room or a corridor leading to nowhere. i guess also an improvement to be made on the castle next time would be having the curtain walls separated from the keep entirely so they can't just blast straight through the back

Honestly. I can't help but feel that offline raiding is cowardly when you have number majority (in players) and shows a distinct lack of skill and dedication.
Why would u spend an unknown amount of time waiting to raid someone when someone elce could potentially raid them and take all that sweet loot before you make a move because of "honour"
@@garethjones4433 If you want resources then just farm them. 9/10 time you'll spend more raiding than you'll get, since they'll have spent most of their resources already trying to build up. Can't steal placed buildings. If it's a clan worth raiding, as in a huge base with plenty of loot, you'd have the issue of catching them with nobody online and get your world rocked because you spent all your time offline raiding and have no PvP experience. Better to online raid

HaloLoreNerd Sure, historically, whole armies would go 'offline' and lose all defensive capabilites randomly every 12 hours for many hours at a time. I get the point you were TRYING to make, but this is a game, not actual war. Have some honour and decency and give the people a chance to defend themselves. Also makes for better gaming. So fuck the assholes who exploited a loophole in the system. They should be better than that. Theoretically, you can knee your opponent in the balls in a boxing match, but it's considered so unsportsmanlike that it has been codified as against the rules. The same should apply to other sports and games. You can't suckerpunch an opponent while they're asleep, they're not even participating in the game at that point.
It would be hilarious if a castle was designed to be so hard to penetrate that, even empty, the castle would still prevail, even without players inside to defend against others attempting unauthorized entry.

@Boyce well putting gates won't work these days due to abundant resources, ppl r mature now. More and more players r jumping in and old ones r leaving the game with tons of vedios behind. Most importantly the updates which came after release were raiding orianted, so nothing can be protected by anything. We 5 guys built on the one of highest peak with crimilations along with campfires. It still won't work. Most of the ppl know how to raid. The last chance to protect it stay online and give a tough fighting. And chances r less if u outnumbered. Most of the times numbers matters.

So after 7 months I finally found out how they found out where Shad had built and sorry Shad it was your fault on how they found out where you guys were. In your video of showing off your base you said you didn't want to mess with spawns and said there was a dragon that spawns near your base and there are only 2 places you find dragon, reds and greens are in the forgotten city and one white dragon that spawn just to the lower right of the volcano. If I had to guess I may just have not known about this fact at the time. When I first watched these videos I think I missed the part when you talked about the dragon, because when I had watched it the first time I want to know where your base was because it seemed like a cool place to build and just from looking at the area I couldn't tell at all. I had also watch your speed build of castle vanburg and you placed fence foundations onto your foundation which I think you should have do here as well and this is me quoting you Shad "redonedent defences" the more lays you got the hard it is for them to break through, where you had built your out walls you only had one gate door when you could have had 2 making it an airlock system. On the server i used to play on we had 5 gate doors you had to go through and 11 normal doors after that, we had built in a cave which provided its own protection from gods the most a god could do was take out the first 3 gates.
This was AWESOME. Any more castles you build with your clan, or massive cool fights like this, I would love to see more of, and I think everyone else would too.
At the time of the Emu War the pommel was lost technology. Had the Austrailian army had pommels at their disposal the Emu War might have ended differently.

There seemed to be a little confusion when coordinating your locations - perhaps you could name the gates and walls so your clan knows exactly where they and you are? You've got options now, such as Legends Fall Wall and Viper's Folly Gate...
most of shads connects have been ones where the opponent was striking him and failed to protect themselves in the process. he's good at punishing his opponents mistakes.

This is the exact video which cemented my love for Conan Exiles. The ability to build amazing structures, raise(enslave) your own army and then erect a Bullwark against the entire server in the glory of your clan is bloody fun.
That was so F******* EPIC ! The combat in this game is a bit slow, but it still looks very challenging, and you aced it. Being the engineer wasn't enough you're also two warrior by yourself.
If there is any issue in this game, its that you can attack bases while the player is off line.. they really need to set it up somehow so attacking a base is a way more organized thing and that you have to do it when a player is ready to do it.. That's is hard to do of course... but if they ever figured it out they invent a totally new genre of game.

But seriously great video. 😁 On a side note because it came up in the video one of the things I don't like about this game is that there isn't anything stopping people from pulling dirty moves like night raids. Sure it's "realistic" because they can attack at any time, but you don't know, you aren't going to get up at 2:00 AM to fight them off, and you can lose so much because some people just don't care about ruining it for others. All because it's left up to an honor system which some people could care less about. A lot of people do respect it but those few others are just annoying.

You assume that my motivations behind this statement involve me trying to say "no annoying people should be allowed, everything needs to be perfect and friendly." But that isn't my reason for this. Clearly there's still going to be annoying people, rude people, toxic people, etc. I'm not speaking from a life standpoint, I'm speaking from a gameplay standpoint. Yes there are going to always be annoying people and we all have to deal with that. If you get stung by a wasp that sucks and you just have to deal with it. But when there's a swarm of hornets sitting outside your door you don't just leave it open and say "well I just have to deal with it". Just because there will always be annoying people in your life doesn't mean you should become complacent in there actions, that's bad practice. So yes there will always be annoying people and the issue with this game is leaving certain things up to an honor system when those people will always knowingly be there. It becomes an issue when one of the key aspects of the gameplay can be overlooked simply because a person doesn't wish to abide by the rules of honor set by other players. So I understand what you were trying to say, and I hope you now better understand what I was trying to say. And again I do agree with your statement and respect it.
A way to at least PARTIALLY combat these types is to have people in multiple different time zones. Having someone who can do night watch is always beneficial in a game where douche night raiding is a thing.

Nick Dettmer one thrall for every 3 feet (a little under a meter) of wall should do.
Seems like thrall placement is a problem, Shad probably need to build larger platforms so that he can place them on the walls properly.

I would also recommend some outposts, which not just give an early warning, but allow to shoot at enemies that are right at the wall.

@Boyce well putting gates won't work these days due to abundant resources, ppl r mature now. More and more players r jumping in and old ones r leaving the game with tons of vedios behind. Most importantly the updates which came after release were raiding orianted, so nothing can be protected by anything. We 5 guys built on the one of highest peak with crimilations along with campfires. It still won't work. Most of the ppl know how to raid. The last chance to protect it stay online and give a tough fighting. And chances r less if u outnumbered. Most of the times numbers matters.

The armored thralls seemed to hold their own, plus MOAR archers on the wall!
So after 7 months I finally found out how they found out where Shad had built and sorry Shad it was your fault on how they found out where you guys were. In your video of showing off your base you said you didn't want to mess with spawns and said there was a dragon that spawns near your base and there are only 2 places you find dragon, reds and greens are in the forgotten city and one white dragon that spawn just to the lower right of the volcano. If I had to guess I may just have not known about this fact at the time.
When I first watched these videos I think I missed the part when you talked about the dragon, because when I had watched it the first time I want to know where your base was because it seemed like a cool place to build and just from looking at the area I couldn't tell at all.
I had also watch your speed build of castle vanburg and you placed fence foundations onto your foundation which I think you should have do here as well and this is me quoting you Shad "redonedent defences" the more lays you got the hard it is for them to break through, where you had built your out walls you only had one gate door when you could have had 2 making it an airlock system. On the server i used to play on we had 5 gate doors you had to go through and 11 normal doors after that, we had built in a cave which provided its own protection from gods the most a god could do was take out the first 3 gates.

Shad Fact: The pommel of mass destruction has the stored power of all of Australias power production for 3 days, or one minute of The Shad Glare.
At the time of the Emu War the pommel was lost technology. Had the Austrailian army had pommels at their disposal the Emu War might have ended differently.

There seemed to be a little confusion when coordinating your locations - perhaps you could name the gates and walls so your clan knows exactly where they and you are? You've got options now, such as Legends Fall Wall and Viper's Folly Gate...

most of shads connects have been ones where the opponent was striking him and failed to protect themselves in the process. he's good at punishing his opponents mistakes.

This is the exact video which cemented my love for Conan Exiles. The ability to build amazing structures, raise(enslave) your own army and then erect a Bullwark against the entire server in the glory of your clan is bloody fun.

That was so F******* EPIC ! The combat in this game is a bit slow, but it still looks very challenging, and you aced it. Being the engineer wasn't enough you're also two warrior by yourself.

If there is any issue in this game, its that you can attack bases while the player is off line.. they really need to set it up somehow so attacking a base is a way more organized thing and that you have to do it when a player is ready to do it.. That's is hard to do of course... but if they ever figured it out they invent a totally new genre of game.
Some players cant accept defeat so they will do anything to eventually win. Good Job dealing with a raid when you were disadvantaged.
I wouldn't say they were disadvantaged so much. They were fighting from a defensive position which is far easier than from an offensive one.

But seriously great video. 😁 On a side note because it came up in the video one of the things I don't like about this game is that there isn't anything stopping people from pulling dirty moves like night raids. Sure it's "realistic" because they can attack at any time, but you don't know, you aren't going to get up at 2:00 AM to fight them off, and you can lose so much because some people just don't care about ruining it for others. All because it's left up to an honor system which some people could care less about. A lot of people do respect it but those few others are just annoying.

Dealing with people and their shittiness is part of multiplayer and life in general. Want to be part of either, or both, you got to deal with it.
Hel Dk ok (sorry beforehand this comment is long, but I had a lot to say I hope you understand) I'm not trying to be rude I respect that statement and agree with it, but this comment isn't necessary. You assume that my motivations behind this statement involve me trying to say "no annoying people should be allowed, everything needs to be perfect and friendly." But that isn't my reason for this. Clearly there's still going to be annoying people, rude people, toxic people, etc. I'm not speaking from a life standpoint, I'm speaking from a gameplay standpoint. Yes there are going to always be annoying people and we all have to deal with that. If you get stung by a wasp that sucks and you just have to deal with it. But when there's a swarm of hornets sitting outside your door you don't just leave it open and say "well I just have to deal with it". Just because there will always be annoying people in your life doesn't mean you should become complacent in there actions, that's bad practice. So yes there will always be annoying people and the issue with this game is leaving certain things up to an honor system when those people will always knowingly be there. It becomes an issue when one of the key aspects of the gameplay can be overlooked simply because a person doesn't wish to abide by the rules of honor set by other players. So I understand what you were trying to say, and I hope you now better understand what I was trying to say. And again I do agree with your statement and respect it.

A way to at least PARTIALLY combat these types is to have people in multiple different time zones. Having someone who can do night watch is always beneficial in a game where douche night raiding is a thing.
