I love it that Etecoons and Dachoras survive the X Infestation, make it to Samus' ship and safety, and help save her at the end of the game. I hope they wind up staying with Samus, so she can have some companions!

They're native to SR388. Samus rescued them. She gave them to the federation. The federation put them on the BSL. Then they sent Samus to the BSL.

Most if not all of the X had hosts at this point, the only way they could get infected is if they engaged in combat with some of the hosts.

You can use powerbombs to check rooms but yeah it's not as strong as the x ray scope

On Samus' ship, in fact they helped save Samus with having the ship come back for her after the Omega Metroid was defeated
