When I heard this song for first time, I thought it was a joke. Now I can realize it has some of he deepest lyrics talking about todays life way. Where the innovation in social culture has ended in the innovation of loneliness.

I think a lot of you don´t realize "Gay" also means happy, and he is talking about how he is sick of putting up a fake mask on social media, pretending to be happy for people that don´t really matter because they are just there for the likes and the memes and how even when he haves too many "friends" they are not his real friends outside of the computer, because he knows he can never count on them for when he is sad or angry.
How many of you have been having a shitty time and pretend to be gay/happy on social media, posting memes of pictures of what you are eating just to get the instant gratification a few "likes" can bring you for a fraction of a second to stop feeling so alone.

My interpretation is that he's referring to the tenuous social connection that exists between people on social media. Having 500 friends on Facebook doesn't mean you have 500 people you can count on and vice versa.

you know, its a new placebo for me this album. im not joking i discovered the album yesterday, all this years i kept listening battle for the sun, meds, once more with feelings.. and never asked me why i never search for something more. now i realize i couldnt listen this songs, cos they are on another step emotional. i used to be really depresive listening all their other albums. now im opening a door, and i make an step ahead on this change
