Lady of the Flowers lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Excuse me, I apologize
He likes your attitude, he tries it on for size
He spends the afternoon, between your thighs
How's that for gratitude, I apologise
[Chorus]
It seemed to last for hours
It seemed to last for days
This lady of the flowers
And her hypnotic gaze
[Verse 2]
Excuse me, I apologize
She's got vacuum cleaner eyes
Suck you in
She's got magazines, filled with pear pies
Excuse me, I apologize
[Chorus]
[Bridge]
She wears her tears on her blouse
Confused and racked with self-doubt
She stole the keys to my house
And then she locked herself out
[Verse 1]
[Chorus, last line altered]
It seemed to last for hours
It seemed to last for days
This lady of the flowers
And her electronic haze
[Bridge]
She stole the keys to my house
And then she locked herself out
She lays me down
She lays me - เพลง
i feel so blessed that i am passing my teen years with this kind of music
Αντικλεια Ι. Μεγαλώσαμε..
I did the same thing many years ago.
I'm 22 now and I still addicted to their music, don't think that's ever going to change.
Ana May Roel it's a way of life i think
You're so lucky. I wish i had this kind of music in my teens.
timeless...
This album is probably one of the best examples on how you can be extremely dynamic and full-sounding with just vocals, one guitar, one bass and drums.
Facts 😊
Is there keyboard on certain spot ?
I once played this song on repeat for 14 hours without getting bored.
I am trough my fourth hour and I wont probably do fourteen but I see your point :)
lmao damn
same tho
Lol! I went thru a faze where I would go around to every bed in the house including couches because I could not sleep. So...I put THIS song on repeat many different times. I did with a lot of Placebo songs. I am addicted to Breathe Easy by Jay Aston "Gene loves Jezebel". Now that would be my dream concert: Placebo, Jay's Gene loves Jezebel and Hope Sandoval !
Did you apologise?
I love the understated elegance of this song.........
The bass... oh GOD. Probably my favorite Placebo song.
Could let myself drown in this song for days.
im sure people say that about your company. you are gorgeous.
@@Garycarlyle ohh shit
@@Garycarlyle nice line يبناللعيبة
Heard this song live last year..... I couldn't stop crying. Seriously
This is my favorite song by them. Used to listen to this daily in high school, I'd pop back sleeping pills and sink into the floor whenever I had the chance. It eased all my pain.
Forget dopamine.
Embrace yourself.
You matter.
They played this at their show a few weeks ago. Obviously, I cried.
I weep with joy and pain
Couldn't express that better thank you. 🖤
I miss the old fucking amazing Placebo songs.
This song is so beautiful. "Her electronic haze" sounds magical. Not sure what it is supposed to mean, but it sounds exactly like how you see the world when you live with Visual snow syndrome. It's the most precise and the most poetic description of this condition for me.
A glance that pulls you in like a tv (and it's electronic haze), once you look, like with Medusa you are trapped forever.
This is what I took it to mean.
Gute Besserung.
This song takes me away from reality and leaves me floating in the space of my mind. It's something surreal.
This song is the anthem of my drug/alcohol abusive early 20's.
GoodGoneBetter yep
"It seemed to last for hours...it seemed to last for days...." Yeah, that's some Special K & smack shit, right there. Those were the days...
The somewhat discordant yet harmonious riffs of the guitar and bass just resonate so freely. One of my favourite placebo riffs
Not heard this song for many years. It is a total classic.
One of the best albums of the 90's and maybe one of the best alt rock albums of all time for me. Its utterly sublime.
This part is very amazing...
"She wears her tears on her blouse
confused and racked with self-doubt
she stole the keys to my house
and then she locked herself out."
Ana Rhode agree !!!
Ana Rhode she stole the keys to my house... :(
It's fairly amazing. Not sure it warrants "very".
Ana Rh she's not their then? I could search for hours and never pick
Ana Rh I wouldn't wait

Like in the description??
Beautiful and mysterous song, just so dreamy and oddball, yet compelling, love the slow build up. A gem one of their best songs.
One of my all time favourite.
I would give up everything I have just to meet Brian and Stef. Just once before I die xx
I would give up everything to see Brian and Stef as well.
same, they're playing in my country this year for their 20 year anniversary and I'm not able to go and it hurts so much
Sammi Jayne i met them in November at a signing brian wasn't very talkative seemed a bit moody was still a dream come true though 😂😂
i know someone who has
@17ll3 x214 i wish i was you so badly
This was the first song I listened from the band, with Lady of the flowers I just fell in love with Placebo,it was such an overwhelming feeling... and now even when everything's seems to break outside I just put it loud and that feeling comes back and takes me far away! It's my favourite album ♪♥ LOVE PLACEBO MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THIS FUCKED UP WORLD!!
The drum groove for the verse is awesome. The hats, simple but perfect.
The whole álbum is fucking incredible
THIS LADY OF THE FLOWERS AND HER HYPNOTIC GAZE! My favorite song! Placebo i love you :3
I get this album back in 2000, when I started the university. Was on my walkman all time. Good memories at 18 yo.
Plscebo were the house band of my conscious, a guitar led band of motley characters that were not "safe" or "boring".... A European mash of glam, androgynous narco-rock, bohemian chic and questioning intellect..... A fresh storm against the knuckle dragging, illiterate , laddish posturing of Liam & Noel " let's 'ave it" Gallagher.....
This is probably the best representation of how my gender dysphoria feels on an internal daily basis. I've been fighting with society and my self view/identity since I was twelve. When I was growing up non binary wasn't a talked about subject and sexuality and gender were inseparable. So I ended up developing a lot of negative coping mechanisms to deal with that level of isolation and misunderstanding.
Placebo has always been a safe place for that side of myself and I'll always love them for that.
That moment when you hear it for the first time since maybe 7 years and you realize you absorbed all of this drum parts in your own playing... So, it comes from there... I can nearly hear myself playing !...
The soundtrack of my mid-teens.
One day this song gonna kill me. I really mean it
I keep coming back to this one since 2006
Брайан ты БОГ
this album soothed me as a youth and helped me cope with things I won't begin to recount here. it's come back around, this time as a familiar friend. the woman I'm seeing lately hadn't ever heard of placebo. I'm so happy to have something so lovely to share with someone so lovely.
The most beautiful songs they’ve ever done
My favorite song, I have it on repeat and it's amazing each time I hear it
this song is so deep
perfect, this music stay by my side for years, in the hardest times of my life, thank you for make this song i love you guys.
I was kinda the Ashtray Girl, now i feel like the Lady of the flowers.
I'm surprised there's no mention of the Jean Genet novel where this song title came from
2:04 this part gave me an eargasm, like the riffs are so good GODDAM
The first Placebo album was like Sonic Youth and early Pumpkins with glam and glitter sprinkled over it
This and a lot of beer, it's so beautiful
It also goes well with hangovers
i woke up with a hangover and continue to drink to placebo. :)
Nya, this and weed
@@aplusr2760 this and antidepressant
Recuerdo los momentos mas felices de mi vida escuchando a placebo todo el dia con mi diskman esperando su primer presentación en México super emocionada de su música increíble!!!❤
Brilliant song!!
This song is perfect! 🥺
Excelentes arreglos! es simplemente genial... Placebo lo amo
*I lost this song years ago and now that I have stumbled upon it again... I am whole again for the time being.
Being perpetually confused and wracked with self-doubt I LOVE THIS SONG!
This is so emotionally loaded.
me and a bunch of friends were trying to debate what "she stole the keys to my house and then she locked herself out meant". i proposed it meant that she stole his heart then pushed herself away from him. just my guess
yep probably
I thought she was just so high that she literally did that. The rest of the song seems like a metaphor though. I just think this one part is true. She was desperate for something, but in the haze she lost it.
I always interpreted it exactly like that.
Exactly how I saw it 10-15 years ago
I wish I had friends I could debate placebo’s songs with
love the book love the song love the band love hypnotic gays what's not to love
thank you guys, for this amazing music
why so perfect ?
this is my fav track ever. thanks. =)
That's pure perfection... I'm with you to the ever and forever... I love you, my dearest Brian and Stef... See you in London soon... I'm counting days and nights...

I just asked my crush for his relationship status and he said he was single but he was talking with someone already.. oof
Then I'm here trying to catch up with assignments
And now I'm here enjoying placebo
Basically I'm catching up with assignments while overthinking everything I've ever done or said haha
My favorite song of them all.

This is a mix between Blue Oyster Cult and Explosions in the sky. Can't stop listen to it. Went to the library today to borrow Lady in the flowers by Jean Genet. Can't stop thinking about this song since the moment I get up til the moment I fall asleep. So fuckin' awesome. Stay safe, guys.
took me a while to get the meaning of it ....i love the explosive finish
johnny walker still taking me a while, im y
Trying though
Favorite song ♥
So deep and evil.

Don't think any of us are gonna switch from placebo to basketball. Good job TH-cam ads
Tonight, in Munich....my teenage dream came true.
What happened? Can you elaborate a bit?
@@QuadraAce Probably saw Placebo live
dolió que no cantaran esta canción en el recital de chile 😢
Shares the title of a Jean Genet novel. both have a tragic heroine, more or less.
if depression was a song
It would sound like point of discust by low or sigour Ros untitled 1
