How do you know if the girls on the dating apps are not bar girls?
I would advise moving off of the dating sites after you have met someone and are comfortable connecting somewhere else like Facebook, which should give you a better idea of what kind of person they are. You can get a sense of what their background is, what they do with their time, how they interact with others, how they dress, etc. If they pass the test, then I would start connecting through video call rather than text. It is generally easier to gauge someone's intentions and authenticity when you are face to face.

Have a you been out to the Philippines yet? My family was very surprised at first, especially at the idea of me meeting someone online from another country. However, they quickly became very accepting as soon as I began introducing my wife (gf at the time) to them over video chat and sharing the experiences from my trips to the Philippines. I am sure your family will come around once they see how happy your Filipina makes you!
