I started talking to a woman on FC and it was a bust. She obviously had a few other men lined up and I didn't stack up to them. Ended up talking to a woman who is a friend of my old friend's cousin in Cebu City. Two and a half years later and two weeks in The Philippines, we are still in a healthy LDR. Visited her house and met her family, the house could fit into my bedroom. Next step is to get her to Australia for a visit. She is the most caring woman I have ever known and I would love to spend the rest of my life with her.

@@phillipsinthephilippines If you ever need a real friend to talk to, hit me up. I've done this. We've been together 5 years now, have 2 kids, live in the US. Stay off the TH-cam, its toxic. Lots of failed men out there claiming to be experts will fill you with fear and distrust because they couldn't do what you did. Their problem is usually wrong bait / wrong pond. I mean you bring stinky dirty cheese over as bait and throw it in the murky ponds of Angeles City, don't be surprised if you get catfish. Good Filipinas do exist. Perfect Filipinas do exist. The trick is finding one and getting her to go with you. If you want a more traditional woman, you have to be a more traditional man yourself. If you want a Christian woman, or at least one that has Christian morals, you have to be a man that is the same. So, love each other, take care of each other, focus always on the family.

i dont know if it is my engineering background or something else but, how do you find the fuel to talk for 3-4 hours. i feel like nothing i say would interest "the other". what to talk about in these hours? and how do you maintain it for months to come?
Good questions! When you are first getting to know eachother, and you find that your personalities match, the hours on the phone seem to just fly by. It is easy to talk when you are just finding things out about each other, flirting, and playing 21 questions all of the time. As time goes on and your relationship becomes more established, I think it is important to find a routine that works for the both of you. For instance, Raquel wasn't working when we first met so we would talk almost all evening from the time I got home from work until I went to bed. If that was still the case now, I think it would be tough to find 3-4 hours of stuff to talk about in one sitting. Now that she is working, we still talk for about 2-3 hours a day, but it gets split up: An hour in the morning when I wake up and she is preparing for bed, an hour after I get off work and she is just waking up, and an hour on her lunch break. Usually there are always a few new things to talk about related to the happenings of the day, but even when there isn't much going it is still easy to talk about the basic stuff ("how was your sleep?", "what are your plans today?" "What did you have for breakfast", etc.). Although it may seem like it gets old talking about these things, it is easy to take for granted the simple things that you have in a regular relationship that you don't have in an LDR. You don't get to have daily chats over dinner at the kitchen table, or decompress together with each other on the couch after a long day. So you have to find a way to achieve these things in your own special way. Lastly, I would say that humor and spontaneity are the most important parts. We are constantly having sarcastic banter and making fun of each other (in a loving way of course). This helps break up any of the day-to-day monotany. We also surprise each other often! For instance, out of the blue I will do something small like order Raquel food or an iced coffee and have it delivered to her workplace. The little things go a long way!

I am also American. where do you get the proof of capacity to marry? to have a civil wedding there.
You have to get an affidavit from the U.S. Embassy in Manila or the Consular Agency in Cebu City. I have a full video outlining the steps for a civil wedding that comes out tomorrow!
