The battery didn't charge at first because the wireless charging part wasn't attached to it. It has a temperature sensor that when not in place stops the battery from charging.

Use the Note Fan Edition (Galaxy Note FE) battery instead - it'll be safer then. The only difference between the 7 and the FE is that the battery is 300mAh smaller.
If the Note 7 had a 3200mAh battery from the start, then chances are, there wouldn't have been a recall.

Yet again another great restoration!! For future reference though the temperature warning appears when the device does not have the back wireless charging plate installed. It is not resolved by unplugging and plugging the charging port, it is however resolved by installing the wireless charging plate. This is a very common issue during a repair with the Samsung Galaxy and Note series.

Forget the suction cup , I learned while working as a samsing tech .
Heat the edges of the back panel and slide a playing card through , like cheese wire .

Wow 101$ is quite steep for a borken galaxy device of its age. Here in Europe you can find one ranging from 30 to 60$ but screens are dirty expensive just like everywhere else. Nice clean job Hugh! Keep it up!

Good playing cards with a firm, coated finish work well for easing off the rear panel. Done well, you should be able to recycle the adhesive depending on how old the phone actually is.

Pro tip: invest in a heat mat, they make heating the phone evenly very easy. Also, I like to use plastic playing cards to take off the back glass, the glass hardly cracks when using them. I use a thin metal shim just to allow me to get a card under the glass so I can cut the edges.

About a year ago my Note 8 pancaked on to the side walk while getting out of my car as it was on my knee.. The damage was utterly catastrophic, the glass on both sides were totally destroyed and the display was really messed up.. I have had some experience with repairing phones and I did the exact same thing as done in this video, a simple transplant into a new housing with a used display, and of course I tore the finger print sensor ribbon cable and had to replace that as well. As it sits today, my phone still looks brand new, and will keep working until the day I decide to replace it..

This is very helpful. I tried going to battery bulb to see how much it would cost to fix my screen. My screen has a deep crack on the left middle side and has a small black dot in the middle of it. The guy told me that it would cost $260. I paid $250 for the phone since it was refurbished. I'll try to get the Ifixit replacement used screen and frame, and I'll be very careful about it probably play this video again to do it step by step.

It wasnt the dock connecter. The phone coming up with the temperature warning is because of the wireless charging coil, it has a temperature sensor on it, if the phone doesnt detect it, it wont charge because of safety.

In my experience of working on these phones I would use filler gauges. I hated using the suction cup because I would break the glass more often. Just using filler gauges and a heat gun I removed the back glass in about 5 minutes without breaking it

Not charging most commonly occurs when the qi wireless charging coil is not connected and screwed down to the frame. It has a battery temperature sensor attached to it and is required for charging. Also, connect the dock connector with the board lifted so you can see for a fact it is properly connected.

The last thing he pulls out of the box wasn’t for the headphones. It’s for the S pen. The tips are replaceable and that grabby tool is there to grab the tip and pull it out do the pen so that you can replace it when it gets worn down

Actually, the "temperature warning" error that wouldn't let it charge was probably due to poor connection on the Qi Wireless charger not the connector daughterboard, because in late Samsung phones, the battery temperature sensor is the whole Qi plastic assembly and connected to the motherboard trough the same golden pads
