You can grapple drop ships, on Exoplanet when the round starts there's 3 drop ships in between you and the enemy team, and if you grapple between them you can be behind the enemy team before xxxGoldenTurtle369xxx can even pull his pants up. Whip out a gravity star and watch as you kill mindless afks setting up their spotify playlist.
This is a good introduction to short-range grappling, but there is still more to the grapple that Paper Cut didn't explain. His advice about conserving your meter is good, but there are situations where you do want to use a whole charge at once. When you master the grapple, you can use it to accelerate over 80 MPH and cross a whole map in seconds. Extremely useful in Capture the Flag and most other modes. Even in PVP, you can get behind and above the enemy base on Homestead in about 9 seconds. At this point your enemy will barely have their A-walls set up facing your spawn. In addition to lateral strafing, you can control your vector relative to the grapple point by looking at or below it. The grapple disconnects when you look away roughly 90 degrees laterally, but won't at even 180 vertically. Notice the backpull on the crane segment when the grapple point was not in view. Slingshotting will increase your speed compared to straight grapples, and you can do it vertically to reach great heights. See "The Art of the Grapple" by Christmas lights for a more thorough and technical explanation. Though it doesn't cover vertical slingshots, it has most of what Paper Cut missed. Also keep in mind that you can use air strafing to stay on long wallruns while building more speed, whereas constantly grappling will slightly slow you down. And when you are going REALLY fast, try not to touch anything except with your grapple and slide hop. You can also disengage the grapple by pressing crouch. Go fast speed is life!
Same it's so satisfying once you figure it out, kills aren't just kills it's like a ballet , and everyone gets to feel like the star when they have those oh shit moments
did you know that if you grapple something taller than you and then pull back until the grapple starts pulling you forward, then push forward it slingshots you? I haven't quite figured out how to get the most momentum out of it but it can slingshot you across the map of done properly.
This is a great Tutorial ! The grappling hook is one of the things I love about this game but what I do know about it I've picked up on my own and that knowledge has been limited. I've seen some things in this video that I think are going to help me a lot and like I've mentioned in the comment sections of a few of your other videos, This just makes me want to jump into a match! Thanks for putting this content out there. Just goes to show that regardless of how much I've been playing there is always more to learn.
I've tried to combine the slingshot grapples from iniquity and the course corrections from you to get from point A straight to point B as fast as possible
Can't believe this video only has 820 (One of them is me 👍) This really helped me get on the move more often. Made my speed slot faster 😀 Thanks for the great vid/content! 👊👏
Wow, until now I thought Grappling Hook was a crutch for movement systems. Now I can see with good movement you can really play mind games and get to places faster than Stim. Might be the new king of CTF if people put in the time.
You missed one trick you can do with grapple that I'm still having trouble doing if you grapple the ground in front of you at the right angle it forces you up like a double jump, the height, would give you but you still have your double jump
I don’t fully understand the move you did at three minutes 40 seconds. When you get maximum height right off the ground right when you start grappling. Can you explain that more?
I used 2 jumps right after each other to get more height. To early or to late and you don't get the same effect. Try it out in a custom game to get the timing down. I touch a little more on this subject in the grapple and slingshot anywhere guide and some of the more recent videos. I'm also dropping another grappling hook video in the next couple days with a few more examples. Gl.
Paper Cut2U Gaming That was it man, applied it right away and found this to also be true. Correct me if I’m wrong: So you grapple the object, double jump right away while pulling back, then slightly roll the stick forward close to the apex of the rise during the movement and, BAM, max height!
So this was completely accidental, but very cool. I didn’t get a chance to clip it though. But I grappled onto a wall, but accidentally wrapped around a tree next to the building, and wrapped all the way around and ended up slingshotting myself parallel to the wall I originally grappled. Have you had any experiences with this?
yup, sometimes it gets caught on poles or corners and you end up getting a weird pull from it. As long as you keep vision of the line, you can keep holding on to it to do odd movements.
i agree with alot of this video however it doesnt really explain how people like frothy cap flag in what feels like 4 seconds, like i get its a newbie tutorial but you never explain how to slingshot at mock 5, speed is the main reason for grappling hook, not "minor readjustments" (ps ez necromancy)
I would disagree on its main use if you look at my newer videos you may change your mind. In regards to slingshots I think it's easier to learn. I went over slingshots in a different video, but that's so long ago I dont even remember which one it was.
word happy wife happy life as long as you dont loose yourself and she know where to draw the line for example dont mess with me when im playing titanfall
Always good, I just came back and reviewed this again. Going to look at the next one tomorrow. Thanks, PS do you have your crouch set to toggle or not?

I once tried to grapple a pilot on the ground. I grappled the grunt beside him and was shot dead. :(
Explozhun lol
Explozhun this just made my day
That sucks
DUDE. I can see this channel really grow. 100k in a couple of months.
Hopefully :) A big part of this channels growth has been all the support from you guys. Thank you Abhinav and everyone else that has been helping out.
iamhappyso PSN Yo, This guy has method over his tutorials, only comparable to FrothyOmen. No lies, just an opinion my man

This comment reminded me to sub. I always mean to but forget 80% of the time.
Encouraging comments are important!

Yo I know I'm a little late to the party but thanks for these videos man. Just getting into TF2 and my god is the movement system deep in this.
Same it's so satisfying once you figure it out, kills aren't just kills it's like a ballet , and everyone gets to feel like the star when they have those oh shit moments
BadluckBEBOP I felt like I was the only one still watching

Cameron Greathouse yea I noticed that u can do that as well
you gotta look away from where you're going for a second. essentially you wanna pull around the thing you're hooking instead of over it
k lol

I love these.
I was already pretty good with the hook, but I've been getting better due to these
ayyyyy another papercut. this video helped out a lot man I appreciate it. I use grapple more than any other ability. Now I can try out some new tricks
I never knew about having to be able to see your grapple for it not to let go... Thanks for the tips!
Np, thanks for stopping by.
Amazing vid, you deserve so many more views and subs
I finally realize where your voice is from! It's PAPERCUT2U from Planet Destiny!
just started the vid, but already liked it, because you're awesome
Good work! I really appreciate the depth.

A REALLY well made video. I subbed
I’m trying to practice rapid firing the mastiff with the grapple I think the idea of yours is cool
I like ur voice, u sound like really chill
it’s so funny watching you discover these grapple techniques again after 2 years of this video being out
Wow, until now I thought Grappling Hook was a crutch for movement systems. Now I can see with good movement you can really play mind games and get to places faster than Stim. Might be the new king of CTF if people put in the time.
great video dude. subbed
Thx for the sub Ryan.
I like these langer video's, do more of them
I watched this without realising it was the basics.
It was helpful though
Man, Grappling does make feel you like the swordsman from Attack On Titan
I thought the game was inspired by it.
@@PaperCut2UGamingAlso what weapons do you recommend for Grappling? Just for fun or skill.
The grenadier are easier to hit with if you have high ground so the hook helps there. But it pairs nicely with everything tbh.
@@PaperCut2UGaming Also do you default console controls for bunny hopping and grappling?
I use an elite with bumper jumper. Paddles are crouch and tactical. If using a default controller evolved is best.
love the vid keep being awesome
Am I first 👀. Nice video
Very helpful thanks!
You missed one trick you can do with grapple that I'm still having trouble doing if you grapple the ground in front of you at the right angle it forces you up like a double jump, the height, would give you but you still have your double jump
Are you using a controller? If so, what do you recommend for a button layout for this kind of thing, while still being able to easily bunny hop?
Fooseberry evolve
what about air strafing? also this explains so much
i'm going to be putting out some more videos on the grappling hook soon.

Your background music kinda reminded me of Death Note
Grapple man, grapple man
Dose what ever a grapple can

Paper Cut2U Gaming I’m just now getting used to the grapple due to your videos and I’m excited to learn some of these tricks.
nice tutorial
You know when you launch yourself don't use grapple again to get to the top just use your jumpkit
Can you slide hop with a normal Xbox 1 controller
Earl Conabee yes
Earl Conabee yes I do it all the time
Earl Conabee use the evolved controls in settings
Thanks for the answers, still learning but knowing I can do it helps!
I saw someone using C4 to do that grav star boost. That doable?
i've done it, but the timing is tight. I usually end up blowing myself up.
Good video. :D
hey do you ever play with subs? I'd love to play with or against you. What is your network?
If I'm on I'm typically in my network (gameinreview). See you there.
