Tip for Northstar vs Ion. Be patient with firing that railgun If you fire it into the shield you're just screwed. Instead hold it and let the Ion waste their vortex shield. Most will flash the shield up and down until the energy is wasted.
Against a smart Ion who doesn't keep their shield up constantly and saves their energy by having longer gaps with the shield down. Don't fire immediately either and learn their pattern. It will take time, some health and maybe a few losses and the fight will be absurdly drawn out but that's just how it will be.
Alternatively, you could just fire half charged or near full charged shots instead of fully charged shots. Most Ions will get messed up by the timing as they will be expecting a fully charged shot instead.

Advice for Ronin mains-close the distance with ion then mix your attacks ups. Usually, ion players go for vortex shield because they anticipate you to primarily shoot your leadwall. E.g; Throw an arc wave, then a melee, then a shot of the lead wall OR two shots of the lead wall, arc wave, arc wave (I use thunderstorm kit), melee.
Really just mix your attacks up to just overwhelm the ion.

As a gen 10 ion main still learning the ins and outs of the game, I'm really practicing those pilot picks and flicks. I've gotten to where I can hit about half of them, but I hope to get to the point where I'm reliable with popping pilots.

Legion main here, I’m going to be honest unless you get a sneaky power shot on an ion there really isn’t much you can do. Legion is just too sluggish to get out of the way of a vortex shield and laser core becomes just a test of how much damage legion can dump into the ion before he gets killed or ejects. The ideal strategy against an ion is to play around your team, try and catch the ion low on her vortex shield and time power shots for when the shield will go down. Longer rages is where legion vs Ion shines since because her vortex shield is similar to a shotgun blast legion can mag dump into a long range ion as long as her shield isn’t pointed at another teammate l. Just make sure that you stay out of her laser shot since that damage adds up real quick. But… other than those small victories a good ion can make the legion unable to get almost any damage with that pesky vortex shield.

Monarch Main here your how to win against her is accurate except for 1 glaring flaw....Just Run up and punch Ion in the face. Yeah that's it Once you're in Ions face there's not a whole lot she can do the Vortex Shield is Useless in CQC because you can punch her in the face or if slighty futher out than melee range just stop shooting so it's just a waste of energy Energy Siphon Trades with laser shot which also wastes energy tripwire is too slow to deploy in near point blank range and without zero point tripwire also wastes half your energy the XO-16 and rockets means you out damage her and rearm means you just have higher uptime on all of your abilities than Ion (including dashs meaning the Ion also cant run away effectively) due to her energy requirements the only thing that you may have a problem with is the laser core but with 4 dashes thanks to turbo engine and rearm you should be able to avoid a good chunk of the damage. This is without upgrades btw which just makes Monarch win harder.

Can’t ion just punch him back? Or if they have zero point tripwire they can spam it with no drawbacks? Also if they don’t have that, refractive lens makes her split shot out damage monarch pretty easily. But that’s just my experience it just Varies on player play styles loadouts and other shenanigans

yeah monarch for sure wins over ion most times, most people use arc rounds and it makes me want to kill myself 🥹

      Monarch dude here
Arc rounds core vs laser core is a joke. I won't be able to shoot my arc rounds when I'm dead.
Punching does pathetic damage. A laser shot to the face criting you is horrible.
If the Ion uses the 35% thing against you, you're toast.
And lastly, the vortex shield, it's pretty much infinite. Even if it turns red, the Ion will only remove it for 1 second and then it's back again.
Aegis Ion is perfect. Infinite energy, forever lasting laser core, and laser shot does more than fully charged rail gun shot. If you Monarch, you stay away from Aegis Ion.
All the "patience beats Ion" crap doesn't work in reality, when you're facing a tough Ion player. Weak ones, sure, but the tough ones, no.
Ions are only killable if they get out numbered. Other than that, they dominate every encounter. Which is why I always walk away from Legion and Ion.

Also, arc rounds shorten the vortex shield time, not instantly remove it. It's not like when Ronin arc waves a tone shield, instantly making it disappear.
Arc rounds on vortex, make it last shorter. So if the Ion uses the 35% return thing, you'll still eat A LOT of damage.

One thing about ion that I always try to keep in mind is that if you’re fighting experienced players try to not to lead with your vortex shield. Since its color will show them how much energy you have it can determine whether they push or retreat. Try to keep your energy total hidden to them because everyone fears the laser shot. Keep them guessing and they’ll never know when it comes. Ion has to metagame a lot when it comes to getting in your opponent’s head to come out on top with the most health.

It’s kind of ironic that scorch is outclassed by every titan in speed and long range potential. As scorch doesn’t really benefit being alone, 1v1s can really eat up an inexperienced pilot. I like to use pilots map terrain knowledge against them and set quick incendiary traps to where they will most likely retreat to. Scorch’s main play style is training pilots to either retreat or get up close. Against ion, I don’t use my thermite launcher a lot just my shield and abilities. Knowing also when to time a core is key against any other titan unlike the other titans where they can activate it whenever they see another titan at range. Papa scorch always on top😍🙏
