@@Snecho well all the source engine bugs in team fortress 2 are in titanfall 2. Like airstrafing, surfing, skieing etc. are just a bugs in the source engine. Thinking of that, titanfall 2 and team fortress 2 have such a good movment system because the source engine is a bugy mess lol.

Don't wanna be that guy but jumping first before sliding is faster than sliding first. Few kph faster that's noticeable. You can see the velocity stats if you use the custom launch option or test in the gauntlet. Otherwise great video :)
Watched this whole video then at the end you said "I'm paper, cut to you" and I realized who you were! lol It's been forever! I watched your stuff on Planet Destiny
Damn finally someone that has taken the time to put a video together to show and explain this stuff thanks so much as I have always wanted to know how to improve my mobility /me goes to look for your other videos :D
I’ve just started playing this game and it’s really demoralising to be destroyed over and over again by fast as fuck pilots so I’ve been grinding the fuck outta the gauntlet but this helped a lot.
I remember using Stim and a gravity star, as it exploded I jump slid while using the tactical, I went absolutely flying down the map, I know I went well over 50km/s
Your movement is almost as fast as the speed at which these videos run. Really enjoyable content and a good voice really does make your videos that much more enjoyable, so, well done. Love the work!
Grav star is great for: movement aim long range (taking people out of cover so you can shoot them) finishing off titans (you'd be surprised) Finishing off pilots catching projectiles, or at least sending them random catching ejecting pilots for an easy kill
Thank you for making a tutorial video like this. No one else I'm subbed to uses moves like you do, and I had wondered where your awesome moves and extra momentum had come from. I don't know if you have a recording device for physical video (like a phone cam) but being able to see what you were doing with your hands while seeing what you were saying would be an added bonus. As always, great video!
This was reaaly helpfull. I figured out how to travel really fast with ronins phase but you wont be able to do it on some maps, forwardbase kodai is the best map for it
TIP: When doing the bunny hop, instead of pressing jump crouch jump, slide first, you'll get a slide boost of speef, and don't try to hit crouch, then lift your finger to hit jump, if you run default controls, for Xbox, hit B to slide, then slide your thumb over A and then B, slide your thumb quickly over these 2 buttons, but dont slide over them again until you touch the ground, takes practice but really helps
I came up with a new one. I call it the slide jump. When your are in the air, and are about to hit a wall, but you want to keep falling without losing speed, you can crouch in the air and touch the wall, and you can go right past it, but you also get another jump.
i'm going to have to try this. It may explain why sometimes i'm trying to wall run but instead seem to slide down the wall while getting my double jump back.
This video was super helpful, but something that makes every new movement shooter kinda difficult is the terms each community uses, to me this look like quake live cpma, but you call it skiing like from tribes lol. Great video
A tip for you new players coming here from the new publicity the game has got from it being free on ps plus With slide hopping if u use claw or have a pro controller bind jump to L1(on PS) or LB(on Xbox) (or use the bumper jumper preset button layout) and change crouch to hold instead of toggle this way you can simply hold crouch while jumping instead of pressing it then jumping and then pressing it as soon as possible after the jump meaning there is less difficulty with timings (you only have to focus on the timings of jumps not crouches) this makes it much easier to slide hop if you don't use claw or a pro controller bind crouch to R1 or RB as well as jump on L1 or LB and you can do the same thing however you won't be able to cook frags so if that is something u want to do u may want to consider learning claw or buying a pro controller Sorry about the essay btw lol
I cannot do the bunny hop for the life of me. My timing must be horrible. I'm using Evolve controller setup on an Xbox controller. I also use auto-sprint. Could that be messing it up? Very awesome guide. Thanks!
Late reaction but anyway: I use bumper jumper pilot. I don't think it matters as long as jump is left bumper. Just try and tap LB right when you land and then immediately tap the crouch button, and then air strafe while you are still in the air and bring your right thumb back to the crouch button before you land. Then repeat
I don't find hold to crouch easier because you can't move your thumb away from the right stick (which is necessary to activate your tactical/jump depending on controls)
Yes it is, but I can't take credit for it. It's an official titanfall picture. I've seen it used by a few other people. Usually I use screen shots from in game but this pic just fit the mobility theme so well I had to use it.
You also have to drift the mouse in the same direction as the you are telling the key board to go. Press A (left) and drift the mouse slowly to the left. Switch to D (right) and slowly drift the mouse to the right. Its classic source physics.
Cut, great video, I have watched it a few times still can't get the bunny hop! I practice for 10 mins before each session and use a Cinch controller with the buttons on the bottom similar to an Elite or Scuff but they are buttons not paddles.
Are there any tips on easily strafing while slidehopping for like your hand position? When I try to turn when I do turn, my hand gets in a weird position and I can't respond fast.
Very helpful. I have the bunny hop down and can ski decent while bunny hopping but I'm having trouble air strafing to connect two wall runs or to climb a tower like you demonstrated in this video. I get with skiing you're holding 100% left or right on the left stick and guiding with the right stick. But for instance when you double jump and move straight sideways are you doing the same thing? Or when you have more speed and are trying to wall run a square building. If you're going slow enough you can turn corners but how do you air strafe around it with more speed? I tried the same method as when skiing and it's not working for me.
You have to 'carve' into the turn when trying to round 90 degree corners. It's hard to tell on the video but at times you press back on the controller as you get to the corner to slow your speed as you are rounding the corner. It's not straight left or right but more of a half cicle that starts turning you around the corner while also cutting speed.
The right stick doesn't play much of a part when running on walls. You can technically look anyway you want. While it's easier to do this looking at the wall you don't really need to. There multiple ways to round a corner (you can carve it by adjusting speed, you can carve with higher speed and then use a single or double jump to get back on the wall, or jump early and just use a jump as you reach the corner. I think it's important to know that there is different techniques you can use to achieve the same affect. Practise and see what works for you.
Is this half circle movement the same way that you can slowly carve left or right in the air? I see Gamesager do it all the time, he will jump off a building, bunny hop, and while in the air for a second or two he is moving left or right a decent amount and I can't mimick this.
Never understood how you're supposed to bunny hop and air strafe on something like a PS4 controller. Even with bumper jumper you have to push L1 and crouch one after the other continuously, while also holding the left stick in one direction and also nudging the right stick? I don't have enough hands for that lol. How do you nudge the right stick and push crouch at the same time?
I'm still trying to learn, but I thought you had to jump/crouch...then jump/crouch again. In the video you said jump/crouch...then jump again. Just confused. Also: how are you supposed to bunny hop, AND turn (using both joysticks), while also pushing the jump, and slide buttons. Not really sure how to resolve this using a regular controller.
0:30 once you have forward momentum (by running and jumping on flat ground, jumping off a wall) you just have to crouch before you hit the ground and then jump again once you hit the ground. From there repeat.
Daniel Ramos Also, go into your settings, then go into "button/stick layout", and change the button layout to "Evolved". I'm one of those people that prefers to use the default controls in my games, but for the movement in this game the Evolved layout is pretty much necessary to do this stuff if you're using a regular controller.
I hold the crouch button when I bunny but I use an elite controller so I use the paddles on the back which keeps my fingers free to do whatever on the topside of the controller. Is doing that as effective as pressing the crouch button every time or am I shooting myself in the foot by having the hold to crouch turned on?
If you already have the muscle memory it should be fine. To me it's easier to tap crouch and start shooting/using my tactical as i bunny hop. If you can ski while aiming, shooting, and using your tactical you are good to go.
Great video I'm a new player but I'm just wondering what controller setup do u use? Or do u have an elite controller? I play bumper jumper but in order to hit the crouch button I have to move my thumb from the analog to circle for crouch. I see you were bunny hopping and aiming the same time. Just wondering how u set up your button layout
I cant seem to get the slide hop right when im going straight. I just seem to lose all my momentum. Whenever i ski and make turns i dont lose it. Is this part of the game or is my timing messed up? I also have hold to crouch enabled could that be effecting it?
er1010ic see how when he bunny hops the gun lowers itself a little bit when it hits the ground, and raises it a little bit when it comes back up, just jump right when the gun lowers
It depends on your button layout. Currently the best one for mobility on console is the evolved setup. When the live fire update drops you will be able to map your buttons to whatever you like. You may just want to wait till then so you don't have to get used to different buttons.
Michael is right in saying that evolved is the best layout for people without a scuf or elite controller to bunny hop and ski. The down side is that your melee will suffer. My buddy switched to evolved but found that he couldn't hit ppl with his melee because he had to let go of his right analog stick. With the speed of the game and very little assist on the melee you will struggle to hit ppl with this button layout.
The hard truth is that there is a disadvantage to each layout because at some point you have to let go of the right analog either to melee or crouch meaning you won't be able to steer yourself or aim for a second. If you want to focus on mobility use the evolved, it will let you ski and aim comfortably . The only way to bypass this problem is with an elite (which is what i'm using) or scuff. If i didn't have an elite i would stay on evolved because i would rather be fast and be able to aim than relying on melee. I sure do like execution though.
Yeah melee is kinda broken in this game though so you're better of just trying to shoot people most of the time, but I do notice the difficulties trying to melee every once in awhile
Pete Kazmier look up "the claw" itsa way to holdyour controller and be able to b hop and aim at the same time(just hard to get used to, pro halo players use it)
papercut, on console if you use auto sprint, and push your joystick halfway forward you still walk as normal. does this make auto sprint usable on console? or am I hurting my mobility at the high end? also, with hold to crouch on and auto sprint, you can EASY mode bunny hop by just holding crouch and never ever letting go of it until you're done hopping, and simply jump each time you hit the ground. this is how I've been explaining b-hopping to my foot soldier friends on ps4. is this slowing me down at hiiiigh speeds since I'm not reinitiating the slide for each hop? can skiing correctly allow you to maintain, say, a good gravstar boost speed? so, hold hard left on left analog, steer left, when it's time to switch directions then both sticks, at the same time, switch to the opposite: hard right on left analog, and steering right on right analog? for my life I can easily and instantly get up to 45- in the guantlet, but for my life, without abilities, I can't figure out why I can't go faster. I've very new to this concept in a game. im hooked though.
In regards to auto sprint the reason I took it off is because when you are trying to ski and holding hard lefts or rights on the left stick there is a chance u tilt upwards which may initiate sprint when u hut the ground ruining your momentum. If u don't tilt up then u are fine. I took auto sprint off just to be safe. Not necessary just gives more control. If u tit to walk that's fine as long as it works for you. If you can hold crouch and activate abilities, aim, and shoot, then stay with what you use. I prefer to tap so my other fingers can activate abilities. It's muscle memory at this point so it's what works for you. In regards to maintaiming speed that is all about making sure your timings when jumping while skiing is on point.
hey i tried using a controller on pc against a friend who was using a xbox 360 controller too but how do you guys aim (use right stick) and at the same time use the XYAB buttons
so you pan left to right with the right stick, while holding left stick all the way left? if I'm understanding that correctly then my right stick movement has been wrong this entire time. thx.
Both sticks have to go in the same direction at the same time as you do your bunny hops. When you hold left on the left stick you are also tilting left on the right stick. When you are holding right on the left stick you are tilting right with the right stick. The reason you go back and forth between left and right on the sticks is so you can travel in a straight line. As you get better you won't always be going back and forth between left and right, but choosing the direction based on where you want to go.
Since I have an elite controller I practically hit both my jump and crouch at the same time. That is why my gun doesn't seem to tilt back to the original position. It's just a matter of getting into the habit of hitting both the buttons almost simultaneously if you want it to look like mine.
GameInReview PSA for folks having difficulty with bunny hopping and air strafing using stock PS4 controller, turn on the controller feature for "hold to crouch". Using the evolved controller layout, you can now just hold down R3, while jumping around! It's awesome for those of us not coordinated enough to time the jump and slide presses! I'm happy to say that I can now air strafe!

you're telling me I have to go to 100% with my left thumb stick? time to change my outer threshold. is it a true straight left or right with the left trigger? as in actually 90° left, or actually 90° right, not slightly forward?
so, for controller, hold to crouch is so... tasty when paired with auto sprint. oh no. auto sprint? yes guys. finesse. push the stick halfway forward to walk. this combined with watching this made me insanely fast. that being said, I've been having issues using evolved with clicking r3 to crouch and air strafing like that. now though? I'm moving in ways that I have never before. thank you
The right stick is what makes the the difference between skiing and bunny hopping. Skiing is just adding to bunny hopping (which is what u r doing with a and b in a straight line. Using the right stick is what let's you air strafe to go faster and make turns.
@@ionstriker3721 BTW i changed the crouch button to hold to crouch vs tap and it makes it way easier to bunny hop and ski. try it out i guarantee it helps.
It's a huge difference. It makes it easier to bunny hop while still being able to aim and use your melee which is what suffers without an elite controller. If you have disposable income I highly recommend it.
I changed my settings for crouching to hold to crouch and that made it easier for me, but how do i aim while doing it? Should i change it back to toggle?
Without paddles on your controller you are always going to be missing the ability to do an action. You can try setting crouch to r3 but that maybe uncomfortable to aim as well, and you also lose the ability to melee. Rock and a hard place. GL.
Hey fam you forgot a couple things. Stim straifting, bunny hopping (bunny hopping is where you don't slide, you do frame perfect jumps and you don't lose momentum, slide hopping is what you reviewed with the crouch and slide.) Wall skipping, skritting, frag boosting, gravity star boosting, satchel boosting, and perfect wall skips. If you ever want to hook me up so I can show you, my Xbox username is Kaleb 17x I will be happy to show you some more advanced movement tricks.
@Zetryox you're going based off my gauntlet run. Not to mention that i only do slide hopping, wall skipping, and a slight amount of air straifting. I can do all advanced movement tricks. Just because I don't use them in gauntlet runs doesn't mean that I can't do em. Just because you never hit a 400+ pt att game or a 83 kill PvP game with a full team doesn't mean you have to take it out on me. I understand 👌 Also, you have .3 seconds faster than me after a couple days of doing gauntlet, not to mention I guarantee I'd have a sub 14 by now if I didn't take a break, and I'm using an Xbox controller while you use m&k You slow😂
@Zetryox You're funny. First off I didn't mention you, second off I'm joking with ya. I'm not trying to offend you although if you weren't you would just ignore me. People who are childish bud in to conversations without a care in the world. For the record, my 400 att game was with a re (mostly) and a kraber. I got like 30-40 of my 50 something kills with the re.
I made my own sort of bunny hop, but there is no unlimited speed. You can also try grappling the floor and jumping so it throws you. Gives you a little more speed. I'm pretty sure you play on Xbox, right? I'll try and get one, I really want to see how we compare. If I may, how old are you?
I think my pilot has lead lined boots on and forgot to do up his laces because I cannot get the hang of this. I’m on Xbox One. Having watched this I will try again 🎮

I'm one of those people that prefers to use the default controls in my games, but for the movement in this game the Evolved layout is pretty much necessary to do this stuff if you're using a regular controller.
Daniel Ramos use the evolved button layout I just switched to it and I'm already getting used to it. not hard to learn
Whenever I try this it goes insanely slow and is fast for only maybe the first 2 slides, how do you keep the momentum?
What camo did u use in the beginning for alternator
How do you move, look, press a and b at the same time (bunny hol
Any benefit from having crouch set to hold instead of toggle?
you don't have to keep pressing it.
For ejection strafing i just strafe in a circle i get so much speed the issue is distance. I'm still not the best pilot but I'm still fast.
I watched over and over and I just started getting it but I don't go very far (bunny hop)
He plays evolve. most really good TF2 players do.
Yeah the grapple hook is the most complicated movement ability in my opinion
How did you jump in the air while in the crouch animation?
time stamp?
how do u make it not stand after jumping from a slide?
I cant seem to get the slide hop right when im going straight. I just seem to lose all my momentum. Whenever i ski and make turns i dont lose it. Is this part of the game or is my timing messed up? I also have hold to crouch enabled could that be effecting it?
er1010ic see how when he bunny hops the gun lowers itself a little bit when it hits the ground, and raises it a little bit when it comes back up, just jump right when the gun lowers
Is it possible to use X and Circle on PS4 controller or do u have to use L1 as your jump button?
It depends on your button layout. Currently the best one for mobility on console is the evolved setup. When the live fire update drops you will be able to map your buttons to whatever you like. You may just want to wait till then so you don't have to get used to different buttons.
GameInReview thanks mate 👍🏻
What console button layout do you recommend for bunny hop and air strafing?
Pete Kazmier evolved is definitely the easiest in my opinion, different than other shooters but it's really worth it to get used to
Michael is right in saying that evolved is the best layout for people without a scuf or elite controller to bunny hop and ski.
In regards to maintaiming speed that is all about making sure your timings when jumping while skiing is on point.
awesome. thanks man. I know that's a little over the top. but I'm gonna get good damnit.
How did you get 2 charges on phase shift
hey i tried using a controller on pc against a friend who was using a xbox 360 controller too but how do you guys aim (use right stick) and at the same time use the XYAB buttons
Claw, or a custom controller layout :)
thx i now use something called ninja layout
so you pan left to right with the right stick, while holding left stick all the way left? if I'm understanding that correctly then my right stick movement has been wrong this entire time.
How does he move right stick and a and b all at the same time? Or does he use the paddles?
Subject-038 if you use the evolved button scheme it becomes a lot easier
What are you playing on?
i dont understand how you stay in a crouched position while bunny hopping. i can sort of do it but i dont stay in the crouched position like you do.

Pete Kazmier Thanks for the tips dude, it worked wonders!
you're telling me I have to go to 100% with my left thumb stick?
time to change my outer threshold. is it a true straight left or right with the left trigger? as in actually 90° left, or actually 90° right, not slightly forward?
That's right. 100% left or right on the left stick, not forwards.
so, for controller, hold to crouch is so... tasty when paired with auto sprint. oh no. auto sprint? yes guys. finesse. push the stick halfway forward to walk.
this combined with watching this made me insanely fast. that being said, I've been having issues using evolved with clicking r3 to crouch and air strafing like that. now though? I'm moving in ways that I have never before. thank you
How do you eject from your Titan and go really high ??
What controller layout do you use?
He uses evolve
What standard Xbox controller setup do you use to achieve this?
evolve
I can go round the whole of forward Base Kodai slipe hoping, does that mean i air strafed?
Yeah, after that it's all about perfecting your timings so you don't lose speed. Good stuff.
0:01 warsch 3 sec and than 9:59
ALL mobillety tricks you can do and sill alott of other triks that you can do
How do you ski with the right joystick when I bunny hop with A and B?
The right stick is what makes the the difference between skiing and bunny hopping. Skiing is just adding to bunny hopping (which is what u r doing with a and b in a straight line. Using the right stick is what let's you air strafe to go faster and make turns.
@@PaperCut2UGaming but isn’t that hard? By right stick you mean the camera stick ie the ones closest to the buttons?
@@ionstriker3721 sorry wrong stick meant the left one.
@@PaperCut2UGaming ok thanks!
@@ionstriker3721 BTW i changed the crouch button to hold to crouch vs tap and it makes it way easier to bunny hop and ski. try it out i guarantee it helps.
Do you recommend auto-sprint, or manual?
STALKER953 ö
STALKER953 manual
So having an Xbox Elite controller can help me in bunny hopping?
It's a huge difference. It makes it easier to bunny hop while still being able to aim and use your melee which is what suffers without an elite controller. If you have disposable income I highly recommend it.
Does it require 1 1/2 A button presses
Does bhopping only work on pc I’ve been trying for months on xbox and it doesn’t seem to work
This is xbox and yeah it works just as good on console as it does on pc.
What are your controller mappings?
Memist Central I figured it out
@@saulgoodman9188 aight bro have fun on the frontier
I changed my settings for crouching to hold to crouch and that made it easier for me, but how do i aim while doing it? Should i change it back to toggle?
Without paddles on your controller you are always going to be missing the ability to do an action. You can try setting crouch to r3 but that maybe uncomfortable to aim as well, and you also lose the ability to melee. Rock and a hard place. GL.
Alrighty then, thanks
Hey fam you forgot a couple things. Stim straifting, bunny hopping (bunny hopping is where you don't slide, you do frame perfect jumps and you don't lose momentum, slide hopping is what you reviewed with the crouch and slide.) Wall skipping, skritting, frag boosting, gravity star boosting, satchel boosting, and perfect wall skips.
If you ever want to hook me up so I can show you, my Xbox username is
Kaleb 17x
I will be happy to show you some more advanced movement tricks.
I understand 👌
Also, you have .3 seconds faster than me after a couple days of doing gauntlet, not to mention I guarantee I'd have a sub 14 by now if I didn't take a break, and I'm using an Xbox controller while you use m&k
You slow😂
@Zetryox You're funny. First off I didn't mention you, second off I'm joking with ya. I'm not trying to offend you although if you weren't you would just ignore me. People who are childish bud in to conversations without a care in the world.
For the record, my 400 att game was with a re (mostly) and a kraber. I got like 30-40 of my 50 something kills with the re.
thanks for the advice ,but i'm still not sure how to bunny hop.i subscribed :)
Just found the video wondering if bunny hopping still working now??
Of course. Why wouldn't it be?
do you have to toggle crouch on/off every time you jump when Bhopping?
After you hit the ground and jump you have to hit crouch again.
what button layout should we use
evolved is your best bet if you don't have a controller with paddles.
does this require 1 and a half A button presses
What? Which part are you refering to?
the multi player would be awesome to see!
What control scheme do you use?
I know I'm really late it's just hard to ski with the default lol
