Every single year I forget the combo contest exists, and I always get as excited as a kid on Christmas morning when I remember. Amazing show! Miss Prince though!
As much as i would have liked to see the combo, the cam switching to the judges faces at 37:22 was so much cooler to see. The elation on their faces was great.

That camera mistake was unintentionally the best decision they could've made. The rollercoaster of emotions everyone in the crowd individually takes is so pure, capturing that moment was perfect. You can recreate the moves done in game but the raw first time emotions is something you only get that once.

I normally dont watch the actual tournament very much just because of the schedule is kinda rough but I watched a bit this year and to see Isai win was incredible. But I purposely dont play 64 to keep some of the mystery of the game alive for me personally.
Cutting away before the combo was complete has to be one of the biggest mistakes in a combo contest. Not because we couldnt see it but because nobody there could see it at the big monitor either. Only the few that were able to see the small screen actually know how it ended there.
it was a blessing in disguise, we got to see the incredible crowd reaction and he did it later so we could see the full combo. if they don’t cut away there, him running down and watching it with them isn’t as cool from a viewer perspective

The thing about being 64 and not the other games is because 64 physics function in a way that combos like these can work really well and give the combo artist more freedom which is not as consistent in the other games.
There have been combo contests for melee and ultimate, you can find some on TH-cam. There's some cool stuff there because of the new characters, stages, and items but like the other reply said, 64 is the best suited for the format in general.
I wish we could have had cam on the competitors, and I also miss the score graphics. The combos were great as usual though, and it was nice to see most of them get completed this year.

Hbox is such a fucking awesome guy, I love that he plays a big part in the smash community. Most of the time, he pops off and goes crazy everytime someone completes a combo, what a loveable guy.
Huntsman really proving that 64 combo contests are necessary and how there are still so many things that this game has to offer and we are far from even cracking the surface of what is possible.
I've followed/played competitive smash since 2014. This is the first Combo contest that I have ever seen and how do you beat a dude using his hands AND feet??
64 has been run modded for years and years to add the 8 minute timer and the combo contest is running mods too for the modified training mode. Everyone just knows Nintendo is too retarded to know their own games well enough to notice this but would notice Goemon added. @@mrm64
I don’t think it’s a Nintendo problem. I think it’s more they want to keep it tradition as vanilla since most people know it. They also prob want people to be more creative and develop really cool combos further with what’s already available
