    Welcome to our special live stream exploring where and how each of Jesus' disciples died!
    In this livestream, we’re going to be looking at the stories of where and how each of Jesus' disciples was killed. You may know from shows like The Chosen that life was difficult for Jesus' disciples after his death. They were scattered around the world. Many were martyred.
    But you will be surprised to learn the stories of where they actually ended up, how far they traveled, and how all of this fulfilled Jesus' Great Commission to take the gospel to the ends of the earth!
    Thanks for joining!

    John had to have grieved the deaths of his brother and fellow Apostles. But oh the goodness of God, while in the Patmos prison, God gave him the vision of all the martyred saints in Revelation 6:9-11 in their white robes, resting with Jesus. He got to see them all in heaven!!!

      @lynnettemiller1658 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I was watching a long video about the death of the Apostles. What I don't understand is that the gentleman narrating the video indicated that all the Apostles , prior to their executions, were teaching that women should be celibate, even in marriage. Of course the men did not like this and that was a big part of the reason that the Apostles got killed. I don't understand this teaching of being celibate in marriage. Does anyone have any idea where the person was getting this idea from. I don't know the name of the gentleman but he is that guy that watches the Chosen and I have seen him many, many times throughout watching The Chosen. He is bald. I don't know his name. I am just a bit disturbed by the teaching that the Apostles would teach celibacy in marriage. Anybody have any ideas about this????

    • @lynnettemiller1658
      @lynnettemiller1658 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi my name is Lynnette. I think I'm trying to speak to Brandon? The person who went over all their deaths. I was just curious about their teaching. You indicated that they were teaching women should be celibate even in marriage? Even the Apostle Paul said, pretty much if you can't control yourself then get married. Not getting married would be better because God always comes first, but if you had to then marriage was better then basically messing around. So there was a reason for marriage. Of course people fell in love and I don't mean to make it sound so impersonal. That not what this is about. I'm more curious about the Apostles teaching that women should be celibate in marriage. I have never heard that nor do I understand it. Gosh if you wanted your husband to cheat on you that's a good way to start down that road. God gave us marriage for a reason. Why would God take away such a beautiful gift?

    The Arm of St. Jude also passed threw my town on its tour through the U.S. Which is why I learned about his story, as they had boards of his relationship as cousin to Jesus, through Mary's side of the family. My thoughts on the teaching of celibate wives: if their husbands were Roman and not Christians, they could have been participating in many ungodly acts (such as temple prostitutes, affairs) which I would think Christian leaders and Jews would find inappropriate for the women to continue to have relations with them after they became Christians. Wouldn’t that be a purity/ holiness issue? Just a thought.

    • @JT-hl7fh
      @JT-hl7fh หลายเดือนก่อน

      Refraining from ungodly acts does sound like a reasonable explanation. A word from historians at the time would have brought clarity for this strange teaching. Maybe they felt people in that day would have known why. Interesting.

      An account by St. Clement of Alexandria (150-215 AD) says that she was martyred in Rome.
      An account by St. Eusebius (283-371 AD) says that she was martyred at the same day in Rome, just shortly before Peter was crucified upside down.
      Here's a quote from St. Eusebius:
      "They say, accordingly, that when the blessed Peter saw his own wife led out to die, he rejoiced because of her summons and her return home, and called to her very encouragingly and comfortingly, addressing her by name, and saying, ‘Oh thou, remember the Lord.’ Such was the marriage of the blessed, and their perfect disposition toward those dearest to them."

      @@dannyyoung4810 Not to take anything away from them, as they did more to spread the gospel then I have, undoubtably. It is also good to be discerning and speak truth, and if you re-read the gospel account of Matthew 28:16-17, It literally says that some still doubted, on the mountain while being given the commission. Don’t know exactly what that means as I only noted this just yesterday, other than the Holy Spirit giving them (and us) the strength when our own strength and faith are lacking. Notice the change in all of them in the book of Acts after receiving the Holy Spirit, compared to their lack of faith and wisdom in most instances in the gospels.. God bless.

    Hi Brandon;
    I an impressed you have “James the Less, son of Klopas,Cleophas Proper Aramaic Halfy (cousin of Yeshua and Ya’qub Bar Yahosef (“James the Just) Yeshua’s brother sorted.
    First as a “Jesus” historian, I tend to use their real Aramaic names and I peel away the myths composed by Gentiles to support teachings that would have horrified the historical YeSHUa Bar YaHOsef, 70 years of Teasing out the historical elements, the family of YeSHUa would have been:
    Ya’qub (Grandpop - Aram. saba)
    His sons
    1. Yahosef Bar Ya’qub (YeSHUas’ abba=father); 2. Halfy Bar Ya’qub. Known as Alphaeus/Klopas/Cleophas (YaHOsef’s brother and YeSHUa’s aHAba=uncle)
    1. Yahosef Bar Ya’qub and Maryam barat Yehoichim (if Yehoichim and Hannah are historical)
    children:
    Yeshua Bar Yahosef (Jesus)
    Ya’qub Bar Yahosef (“James the Just/Righteous,” grandfather’s name according to Jewish naming praxis)
    Yose (Yahosef) Bar Yahosef
    Shymeon Bar Yahosef (Simon, most common 2nd temple name)
    Yehudah Bar Yahosef (Jude)
    At least 2 unnamed daughters, perhaps:
    Maryam Barat Yahosef
    Shalomzion Barat Yahosef

    If there was a third daughter, I lament her loss to history to the misogynistic Marian theologians and will step outside of the historical for a second and give her a name, Yohannah.

    2. Halfy (Alphaeus) bar Ya’qub and Maryam (“other Mary”)
    Children:
    Mattay (Levi?) Bar Halfy (“Matthew” the disciple) Yes, Matthew was Yeshua’s cousin.
    Ya’qub Bar Halfy (also after saba=grandpop) disciple called Ya’qub Zaore (“James” the Lesser)
    Shymeon Bar Halfy (probably youngest). Succeeded Yeshua’s’ brother “James” the Just) as Nasi of the Jerusalem yahad in 62 CE.

    Yeshua’s aunt (Mary’s sister) Shalomzion (Salome) married the business partner of Yonah as owners of a fishing fleet and three of their sons, Yeshua’s cousins, Ya’qub, known as Ya’qub gadola (“James” the greater,) as compared to the other cousin above, the “lesser/younger”) and Yohanan (“John”) and Yehudah Thadday (“Thaddeus”) were all Talmiddaya/disciples of Yeshua. “Jesus” aunts Mary (the “other Mary”) and Salome are mentioned in the Gospels as accompanying and supporting the group. There is another woman accompanying the group and helping to support them. She is the wife of Antipas’ steward Chuza, Yohanna. The fourth of the older supportive women was Shoshanna/Susannah. Whether these two women were relatives of Jesus or one of the other disciples is not known. A number of the disciples were relatives so chances are they are kin of Yeshua also.
    Apocryphal gospels like the Protevangelium of James were composed at the height of the highest, and largely mythological, Christology of the 2nd century and given the pseudepigraphic titles of disciples for authority, to support developing Gentile Christian doctrines.
    I thought it prudent to get the family out of the way before discussing the Talmidda.
    Shlama

    Being celibate in marriage? That is apocryphal indeed!!!😂 How would people take that out of a preaching of salvation. I knew about Peter being crucified in Rome, but because of stop doing the duty of marriage!!! Paul would be appalled!!!!

    I find the fact that many of the disciples were preaching celibacy in marriage so odd because God said to Be Fruitful and Multiply. And also that God said not to withhold relations for more than three days. Relations within a marriage are certainly allowed and expected. Very odd indeed…

      All I recall reading was Paul saying celibacy is good if you can but it wasn’t an admonition. I understood he was meaning to marry or not; not celibacy within a marriage. The OT advised no sex during menstruation.

    I appreciate your assessment. It wasn't easy to follow the chronology. I wish a list of the apostles' deaths was provided, with each of them, their cause of death, and, if known, where they were buried. The video is really about your wonderful trip rather than how the disciples died.
