@@MaaFreddy quote----what is wrong with citing a Saint ?... unquote
The word “saint” comes from the Greek word hagios, which means “consecrated to God, holy, sacred, pious." It is almost always used in the plural, “saints.” "…Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints at Jerusalem" (Acts 9:13). "Now as Peter was traveling through all those regions, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda" (Acts 9:32). "And this is just what I did in Jerusalem; not only did I lock up many of the saints in prisons …“ (Acts 26:10). There is only one instance of the singular use, and that is "Greet every saint in Christ Jesus…" (Philippians 4:21). In Scripture there are 67 uses of the plural “saints” compared to only one use of the singular word “saint.” Even in that one instance, a plurality of saints is in view: “…every saint…” (Philippians 4:21).
The idea of the word “saints” is a group of people set apart for the Lord and His kingdom. There are three references referring to godly character of saints: "that you receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints …" (Romans 16:2). "For the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12). "But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints" (Ephesians 5:3).
Therefore, scripturally speaking, the “saints” are the body of Christ, Christians, the church. All Christians are considered saints. All Christians are saints-and at the same time are called to be saints. First Corinthians 1:2 states it clearly: “To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy…” The words “sanctified” and “holy” come from the same Greek root as the word that is commonly translated “saints.” Christians are saints by virtue of their connection with Jesus Christ. Christians are called to be saints, to increasingly allow their daily life to more closely match their position in Christ. This is the biblical description and calling of the saints.
How does the Roman Catholic understanding of “saints” compare with the biblical teaching? Not very well. In Roman Catholic theology, the saints are in heaven. In the Bible, the saints are on earth. In Roman Catholic teaching, a person does not become a saint unless he/she is “beatified” or “canonized” by the Pope or prominent bishop. In the Bible, everyone who has received Jesus Christ by faith is a saint. In Roman Catholic practice, the saints are revered, prayed to, and in some instances, worshiped. In the Bible, saints are called to revere, worship, and pray to God alone. The doctrine of Transubstantiation teaches idolatrous behavior. The Roman Catholic Church (RCC) teaches that the substances of bread and wine cease to exist and only the 'accidents' remain. Those 'accidents' are what can be detected via the 5 senses: the taste, the smell, the visible appearance (optical image), the texture, the alcoholic effect, the gluten effect on gluten-intolerant, the chemical properties, the molecular structure... all of these are 'accidents' and do not speak to the substance, which is now the whole Christ including His physical flesh, His physical blood, His soul, and His divinity.
      >>>>So, when you use the word "Saint". how are you useing it??? According to scripture?? Or Catholic?

@@mitchellosmer1293 If I were not a Catholic, and were looking for the true Church in the world today, I would look for the one Church which did not get along well with the world; in other words, I would look for the Church which the world hated. My reason for doing this would be, that if Christ is in any one of the churches of the world today, He must still be hated as He was when He was on earth in the flesh. If you would find Christ today, then find the Church that does not get along with the world. Look for the Church that is hated by the world as Christ was hated by the world. Look for the Church that is accused of being behind the times, as our Lord was accused of being ignorant and never having learned. Look for the Church which men sneer at as socially inferior, as they sneered at Our Lord because He came from Nazareth. Look for the Church which is accused of having a devil, as Our Lord was accused of being possessed by Beelzebub, the Prince of Devils. Look for the Church which, in seasons of bigotry, men say must be destroyed in the name of God as men crucified Christ and thought they had done a service to God. Look for the Church which the world rejects because it claims it is infallible, as Pilate rejected Christ because He called Himself the Truth. Look for the Church which is rejected by the world as Our Lord was rejected by men. Look for the Church which amid the confusions of conflicting opinions, its members love as they love Christ, and respect its Voice as the very voice of its Founder, and the suspicion will grow, that if the Church is unpopular with the spirit of the world, then it is unworldly, and if it is unworldly it is other worldly. since it is other-worldly, it is infinitely loved and infinitely hated as was Christ Himself. But only that which is Divine can be infinitely hated and infinitely loved. Therefore the Church is Divine."

@mitchellosmer1293 Good lord you need help. These questions are like entry level theology and the resources to answer them are widely available online by all sorts of resources. The fact that you insisted more than once that a Christian that has died is dead loudly announces your lack of any grasp on Catholicism or presumably your own understanding of your chosen branch of Protestantism.
These points may have worked a century ago on an elderly protestant congregation but with the invention of the internet and so much information available and the ability to watch a service/Mass of another denomination without stepping foot in their building should have ended questions like these years ago. There's no need to continue living in the dark. These pastors that continue to feed you this garbage have been exposed and yet continue to spread this nonsense to a naive audience in a helpless bid to keep their jobs and salaries. God gave you a good brain and a conscience, use it. If we end up in disagreement, fine. But at least know what you're talking about. If you can't accurately articulate the beliefs held by the side you're arguing against you're accomplishing nothing.

      @@mitchellosmer1293 St. Ignatius of Antioch (A.D. 35 to 107)
The Greek root of the term catholic means “according to the whole” or “universal.” Ignatius uses the term to refer to the visible and authoritative Church:
“See that you all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is administered either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude of the people also be; even as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church.”-Letter to the Smyrnaeans, Ch 8
Ignatius urges the faithful to submit to the authority of their bishop because it is the will of God:
“But inasmuch as love suffers me not to be silent in regard to you, I have therefore taken upon me first to exhort you that you would all run together in accordance with the will of God. For even Jesus Christ, our inseparable life, is the manifested will of the Father; as also bishops, settled everywhere to the utmost bounds of the earth, are so by the will of Jesus Christ… Let us be careful, then, not to set ourselves in opposition to the bishop, in order that we may be subject to God.” -Letter to the Ephesians, Ch 3,5
Ignatius recognizes the authority, or “presidency,” in particular of the Church at Rome:
“Ignatius, also called Theophorus, to the Church that has found mercy in the greatness of the Most High Father and in Jesus Christ, his only son; to the Church beloved and enlightened after the love of Jesus Christ, our God, by the will of him that has willed everything which is; to the Church wich also holds the presidency in the place of the country of the Romans, worthy of God, worthy of honor, worthy of blessing, worthy of praise, worthy of success, worthy of sanctification, and because you hold the presidency of love, named after Christ and named after the Father; here therefore do I salute in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father.” -Letter to the Romans, Intro
Ignatius indicates that the Church at Rome possessed the authority to teach others:
“You have envied no one; but others you have taught. I desire only that what you have enjoined in your instruction may remain in force.” -Letter to the Romans, Ch 3
Finally, Ignatius confirms-as do other Church Fathers-that this authoritative Church at Rome was founded by Peter and Paul:
“Not as Peter and Paul did, do I command you. They were apostles and I am a convict. They were free, and I even to the present time am a slave.” -Letter to the Romans, Ch 4.
On the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
“Take note of those who hold heterodox opinions on the grace of Jesus Christ which has come to us, and see how contrary their opinions are to the mind of God… They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the Flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, Flesh which suffered for our sins and which the Father, in his goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes.”-Letter to the Smyrnaeans, Ch 6.
Ignatius also explains that the Eucharist must be administered either by a bishop or one of his ordained ministers:
“Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is administered either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it.” -Letter to the Smyrnaeans, Ch 8.

Why did you mess with the English spelling of Petros? That is interesting you did that. IN the actual Greek that Matthew wrote, Peter is petros (which is little rock) and on THIS PETRA (BIG ROCK) Jesus will build HIS Church. Matthew makes a clear distinction here. The PETRA , the actual foundation is not in a human Peter, but the TRUTH of the Jesus Christ. That HE IS THE SON OF GOD The Messiah. that Peter recognized a few verses earlier. That is the PETRA the foundation. Not little petros.
If Jesus meant Peter would be it, He would have just said, You are Petros and ON YOU I shall build the Church. Why use the term 'on this' if Jesus referred to Peter? Jesus wouldn't. There are two words as the meaning are clearly different. petros and PRETRA.

The only Church Jesus has is the born again Church He died to save. God’s Word tells us that Christ is the only HEAD of His one body! This alone means that the pope of Rome is the head of a false church. If I were not a Catholic, and were looking for the true Church in the world today, I would look for the one Church which did not get along well with the world; in other words, I would look for the Church which the world hated. St.

What does Scripture say about false doctrine?
False doctrine, and those who promote it, should be rejected, rebuked, and exposed. This is demonstrated multiple times in the New Testament (1 Timothy 1:19-20, 2 Timothy 4:14-15, Jude 3 - 4, Matthew 23, Galatians 1:6-9, Galatians 5:12, Titus 1:9, Romans 16:17).

    • @vingitamsjr
      @vingitamsjr หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@mitchellosmer1293 It's a good thing that you just proved the specific term "Bible," like the term "Trinity," isn't explicitly found in Scripture but is still acceptable. Therefore, the absence of specific terms like "Purgatory," "Pope," or "Nun" in the Bible does not invalidate the concepts themselves. For instance, the term "Trinity" is not even found in Scripture, but the concept is clearly supported by biblical passages like Matthew 28:19, where Jesus commands baptism in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, reflecting the triune nature of God. Similarly, the doctrine of Purgatory is derived from biblical principles, such as the purification mentioned in 1 Corinthians 3:15 and the prayers for the dead found in 2 Maccabees 12:46. This is why the Catholic Church's understanding of certain truths has developed over time, guided by the Holy Spirit, as promised by Jesus in John 16:13. This development includes terms and concepts that help articulate the faith more clearly, like "popes" and "nuns." The Pope, also known as the Bishop of Rome, is the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church. The role is rooted in the ministry of St. Peter, who was given special authority by Christ in Matthew 16:18-19, where Jesus grants Peter unique authority, symbolized by the "keys of the kingdom," a sign of governance. This authority to "bind and loose" is a rabbinic term for teaching and disciplinary authority. Nuns are women who dedicate their lives to God, living in community under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. While the Bible doesn’t mention the term "nun," it does support the idea of consecrated life and the dedication of one’s life to God in 1 Corinthians 7:34, where St. Paul acknowledges that women who remain unmarried (including virgins) can dedicate themselves more fully to the Lord. This dedication is reflected in the life of nuns who live celibate lives for the sake of the Kingdom of God.
True Christians like us Catholics do not rely solely on the Bible (Sola Scriptura) but also on Sacred Tradition, as St. Paul himself emphasizes in 2 Thessalonians 2:15, where he urges believers to "stand firm and hold to the traditions" they were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter. The Church teaches that Divine Revelation comes through both Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, both of which are guided by the Holy Spirit and safeguarded by the Magisterium (the teaching authority of the Church). The idea of dismissing a claim simply because it is "written" ignores the importance of discerning truth through the authority Christ gave to His Church. The hypothetical scroll mentioned in your argument is ridiculously similar to various apocryphal writings or heretical texts that the early Catholic Church, guided by the Holy Spirit, rejected. The Canon of Scripture itself was determined by the Catholic Church, which discerned the inspired books from other writings.
Once again, the authenticity of Scripture is based on the authority of the Catholic Church, which compiled and recognized the Canon of the Bible in the councils of Hippo (393 AD) and Carthage (397 AD). The Church, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, discerned which writings were truly inspired and which were not, rejecting many false gospels and letters that contradicted the apostolic faith. The verses you cited about rejecting false doctrine (e.g., Galatians 1:6-9) highlight the importance of adhering to the true Gospel as handed down by the apostles, which ironically has long been upheld by the Catholic Church. Tracing its roots directly back to the apostles, the Catholic Church has preserved this teaching faithfully.
You're also ignorant of the fact that Jesus established His (Catholic) Church on Peter, the rock (Matthew 16:18), and promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against it. He also promised to send the Holy Spirit to guide the Church into all truth (John 16:13). This divine guidance ensures that the Catholic Church faithfully transmits the truth of Christ, not merely the "words of men," like your Protestant sects. You also don't seem to know that the Catholic Church is found fully in Christ and that it, as His Body, is the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Timothy 3:15).
Next, while it is true that some New Testament writings were recognized and circulated early among the churches, the full Canon of Scripture was not definitively settled until later councils. The Church Fathers, many of whom were bishops in communion with Rome, played a crucial role in this process. Additionally, the assertion that these authors were "not part of the Roman Church" misunderstands the universal nature of the early "Catholic" Church, which was united in doctrine and practice across different regions, with Rome (Vatican today) holding a place of primacy.
Last but not least, the principle of Sola Scriptura-the belief that Scripture alone is the sole authority-obviously leads to doctrinal divisions. This is because different individuals like you or groups like yours, relying solely on their interpretations of the Bible, can arrive at contradictory teachings such as Infant Baptism vs. Believer's Baptism, Real Presence vs. Symbolic Presence, Calvinism vs. Arminianism, Once Saved, Always Saved vs. Conditional Security, and many more. Without a central, authoritative body to guide the interpretation of Scripture, as provided by the Magisterium in the Catholic Church, Sola Scriptura has historically resulted and will continue to result in numerous warring denominations, each with its own distinct and conflicting doctrines, which further divide Protestantism and damage the reputation of Christianity as a whole.

What are the essential ingredients of a true church?
The essential ingredients were a place where the gospel is truly preached, the sacraments are rightly administered, and where there is true discipline and government within the church. That's where you begin. You want to make sure that the gospel is truly being preached.
      Does the Catholic Church qualify?

I was PCA too.. it was an easy transition to Catholicism. What really did it for me was reading John 6 as a Presbyterian.. and in my work at the church, monthly, throwing the “communion” cups . with traces of grape juice, and cracker crumbs in the garbage. That imagine routinely sent shudders through my soul, given what the Lord says He is in the bread and the wine.

"Super anti-Catholic" is a good thing! You're either a Christian or Catholic.
The guy in this video says, "I've got to be Catholic?"
    Really?
There's a difference! Christians trust in, believe in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Those who believe in Him receive the "living water," the "Holy Spirit."(Ref. John 7:37-39)
Catholics trust in the Sacraments for salvation. They believe one is "reborn" (Catechism 980) by water Baptism..."Yet the grace of Baptism delivers no one from all the weakness of nature."(Catechism 978)
Water Baptism "delivers no one!" It is a cheap, man-made "grace."
Only Jesus Christ is "full of grace and truth."(John 1:14)
The Catechism of the Catholic Church says, "the Catholic Church is necessary for salvation."(846) Also, water Baptism along with Penance are "necessary for salvation."(980)
And Peter, the so-called first Pope, said of "the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth" in Acts (v.10):
"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”(Acts 4:12)
Only faith in Jesus Christ alone is necessary for salvation.
Go ahead and belong to the Catholic Church and see where it gets you. By the way, this Church, the so-called "sole Church of Christ" (816) wants "global Government," a "World Authority." Yes, in 2011, the Vatican released an official Vatican document outlining the need for global Government. That is from the Antichrist.

You mean, you didn't allow God to work through you until after you left Catholicism. You never made it past the "purgative" step as a Catholic, one of the spiritual stages. Most Catholics don't. Getting past that stage as a Catholic makes the faith richer. Protestantism makes you stay poor since you don't have the Eucharist.

Catholic vs. protest when you come from being an atheist agnostic before is how Winston Churchill describes the difference between democrats and Republicans. If you aren't a democrat when you're young you have no heart if you're not a Republican when you're old you have no brains. Similarly if you if you're not a protestant when you come into faith you're heart isn't really into it. If after some time and you are learned in Scripture and are not Catholic you have not used the brain God gave you. Similar to the parable of the talents. Plus when I heard that The Eucharist was the Blood, Body, Soul and Divinity of our Lord, I knew it to be true instantly. As a former atheist agnostic I doubt everything of the jump but I didn't that Truth. It is what it is.

If I were not a Catholic, and were looking for the true Church in the world today, I would look for the one Church which did not get along well with the world; in other words, I would look for the Church which the world hated.

What is the true meaning of church in the Bible?
The church is the body of Christ-all the people who accept Christ's gift of salvation and follow Christ's teachings. It is much more than a building. In the Bible, “church” never refers to a building. It always refers to people-the people who follow Jesus Christ.
      >>>>"The Way" was the name for Christianity in the early church. Many believers today may not know that in the Book of Acts "The Way" was the most widely known name for the early Christian church. The first use in Acts of the name, "The Way," occurs in Acts 9:1-2.
      CHRISTIAN CHURCH!!!! NOT CATHOLIC!!!!
What is the meaning of Acts 9 2?
It can refer to Jesus, as "the way, and the truth, and the life" to attain reconciliation with God (John 14:6). It can mean the sect of Judaism that branches off into the religion Christianity (Acts 9:2; 19:9, 23; 22:4; 24:14, 22). The term "Christian" was not applied until later (Acts 11:26).

The Mass is the One Eternal Sacrifice of Calvary but here’s your problem. You assume time and space in eternity are under the same limitations as here on earth and they are not.
Heaven is one giant ongoing liturgical celebration of Calvary and God makes it present to us poor saps still stuck on earth. It’s not another sacrifice like it would be if time was only linear.
We couldn’t be with Jesus at Calvary so Jesus makes Calvary present to us! How wild is that!
If you could time travel back to Jerusalem you would do it in a heartbeat. But you don’t have to as He time travels forward to us.

If I were not a Catholic, and were looking for the true Church in the world today, I would look for the one Church which did not get along well with the world; in other words, I would look for the Church which the world hated.

On the contrary my friend; Protestant are Matt 24:4 let no man deceive you, yet Martin Luther and Calvin sure did , by promoting sola scriptura and sola fide.
Just do a little research on both doctrines.
Jesus didn’t just drop a bible from the sky with intentions for us to figure it out.
      He left a visible church.
The Bible talks about choosing church elders
What you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also”
Then Paul warns against “be[ing] hasty in the laying on of hands” (5:22), meaning don’t ordain just anyone-you must be sure the ordinandi are truly prepared for ministry. Notice the use of the terms “laying on of hands.”
Rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands” (2 Tim. 1:6).
We see it in Acts , Titus. No one just became a pastor and you clearly see. They describe bishops, presbyters, and deacons. So you have titles, Jesus left a church, not a big deal if you don’t accept it but to call it in biblical shows how much you know of the Bible.

Do you have any idea how silly your question is? The Church (ecclessia) is found all throughout scripture, but when the book of Scripture were written there was only one Church, so a name wasn't needed.
It wasn't until you had competing interpretations of scripture that you start seeing the early Christians giving a name to the Church to distinguish it from heretics.
The Bible doesn't give itself a name either. Here is a verse to chew on though: if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and buttress of the truth. (1 Tim 3:15)

The 110 date is an estimated date on the higher side. Ignatius couldn't be ordained by Peter as 2nd Bishop if he was "long" after Jesus. All NT churches were Catholic churches. They all taught and believed the same thing and they were all Catholic. We know the churches the Apostles were Bishops of. They were Catholic churches. That's historical and cannot be denied.
