Not only in the UK. I'm from Russia, and this episode was the cause of the longest tearing, sobbing and crying in my life. The interesting thing is, despite "Doctor Who" being a very good TV series to get really emotional, I'm usually not the person to start weeping watching TV. So next time after "Doomsday" I was openly crying happened during "The Time of the Doctor" and the third time hasn't happened yet.
I think both the writing and Billie's acting gives such a great plot, she's gone from a naive 19 year old to basically another doctor, the way she talks to the Daleks, the way she talks in general it's so like the doctor, really showing her character coming full circle, beginning as a companion and ending as a doctor, being so smart, so brave yet stuck alone in the universe
I do love that the Daleks and Cyberman argue like toddlers about who will identify first, and then when the Dalek says "Daleks do not take orders" the cyberman does "(ha ha, you said it first) You have identified as daleks"
Murray Gold, the composer, absolutely nailed the music for the end (Entitled Doomsday). I cry every time, and even gives me goosebumps when the music pops up on my playlist. Fantastic acting from everyone; David's single tear breaks me... I'm so excited for your Torchwood reactions - a lot more "adult" but equal levels of adventure! I can't wait!
One of the few shows that rips my heart out constantly. This one crushed me at the time and still does. No spoilers, but the heart rip-outs keep coming and coming, haha
This is probably RTD’s best finale ever! Before this story, Doctor Who fan fiction would have always thought how cool it would be to have a battle between the Daleks and the Cybermen in the show, and thankfully in 2006 the production team had the budget to finally realise this and make it happen! Heartbreaking for the Doctor and Rose to lose each other, but realistically this was the only way the two would ever be separated from each other, such was the love and devotion Rose had for the Doctor! All of the other open strands, going back to “Father’s Day“ in season 1 and the two part Cybermen story early in season 2, finally came together. Jackie and Pete got their own versions of each other, Rose got back with Mickey and everyone’s (sorta) happy, except the Doctor, who as always, loses out on love and happiness. The Doctor doesn’t have time to mourn Rose though, with Catherine Tate’s character now on board the TARDIS, giving the Doctor another Christmas he (and she) won’t forget! Glad you enjoyed this finale and I just know you’re gonna love the Christmas special too.
@@Tayvin4042 it certainly has some elements that can be a hard watch, and it might be something I only watch again every few years, but... Man, it's good.
Great reaction!! For me, this next season is probably one of the best! Some of the stories are considered absolute classics and in many peoples top 5 ever! I GUARANTEE your gonna love it....
I legitimately cry every single time I watch this episode. No matter how many times I’ve seen it. So glad you’re enjoying the show and looking forward to some great episodes coming. ❤
Daleks meeting Cybermen, one of the most iconic interactions of the show. 10 and Rose at the wall, one of the most iconic shots. "Rose Tyler, I-", one of the most iconic FUCKING HEARTBREAKS, OH MY GOOOOOOOOD.
Your videos popped up on my home page 2 days ago and I'm finally caught up!!! Have become addicted to these reactions and it's been along time since I watched the show. So glad you're enjoying it and we've got to one of my favourite companions!!! Enjoy! 😁
Rose is one of my favorite characters in television. Bad Wolf. Such a good story weaving that in throughout her stint. I cried so much over Billy Piper and David Tennant as Rose and Doctor Who, forever my favorite tv couple even though they never got to experience it.... 💔
It’s an emotional one this episode! No matter how much I watch it I always cry. But you’ll hopefully love the next one! I mean I love every episode so I’m bias haha. But I loved your resction to this one’ ❤
I've been waiting for you to react to this for a while. I feel like there's two key milestones in being a Doctor Who fan: the first is the first time you go through a regeneration of the Doctor, and the second is the first time you go through the loss of a long-term companion. You've now experienced both of them. Doctor Who is such an odd show, in a ship of Theseus way, going through so many actors and actresses over its long run, yet the core heart of what the show is has remained through it all.
Army of Ghosts and Doomsday were my introductory episodes to Dr Who. So on one hand, when Rose was lost, I didn't have all of the context to feel the wieght if her leaving. On the other, watching the first two seasons while knowing what was going to happen was tantamount of agony!
This episode is such an emotional rollercoaster! Terrifying, funny, back to terrifying, absolute tragedy then comedic right at the end. When this first came out Catherine Tate was best known for her very successful sketch comedy show full of OTT characters, so seeing her in the Tardis was a surprise that left the audience going "What!" along with the Doctor. The next two series are almost flawless - no more dodgy aliens. The series after that are also really good, but have a different vibe to them.
Indeed! I think I got it, at least I worked out my calendar through Series 6 months ago to get it right and then not have to think about it during it's run.
The most emotional and brilliant episode of any program i have ever seen , tears in my eyes every time i see this one. But the future is still yet to come ... :)
This episode always reminds me of the song "Who Put the Weight of the World on My Shoulders" by Oasis. So now she's gone, all alone in her own universe...
The scene with the dalek "suckerss" was probably to kill the joke that they were just sink plungers for cureing blockages (don't think this dalek power has been ever used since)🎩
Great reaction once more, I would suggest checking out Cathrine Tates Nan, Drunken Bride, Gay Son and Offensive Translator seris of sketches from her self titled comedy sketch show, these are some of her best characters but could maybe offend some people.
17:18 Hey, CNR. Used to be Open Maw Productions. All new channel here. Well, as has been said on previous videos... Everybody has their favorite era, favorite doctor. From Classic Who I would absolutely go with Hinchliff era Tom Baker. In nuWho I would be very hard pressed to pick between Chris, David, and Matt... BUt I do really love Matt Smith's first season. Lots of really loveable stuff in it. But I think most NuWho fans will probably agree that Season 1 was just gettin gthe show back on the air, Season 2 was them stretching their legs, and Season 3 is where the show really starts to run. Keep the tissues handy. It's easy to forget but Rose isn't the first, she's one of dozens and dozens of companions. The Doctor is an ancient man. He's seen a lot, he's known a lot of people. Those tears at the end don't come easy to the ancient eccentric Time Lord from Gallifrey.
For me, the difference between this era and the matt smith (and onwards) is the feels.... ecclestone and tennants era is more about the feels and emotion (although some clever twists too as you'll find out).. matt smith onwards is less about feels and more about complex stories which are rewarding in a different way.... which u prefer of course depends on what u like....
Some amongst you will note that the Cybermen upgraded on this Earth wouldn't have Void stuff on them - this group is dealt with in series 3 kids book 'Made of Steel'
Matt Smith is going to be Awesome, Capaldi is my Favorite Doctor... but yes, we have some Major Episodes and Storylines coming up until than and I can't wait :)
That would have definitely been interesting! Perhaps too similar to Torchwood. I feel like it would be Torchwood stories with the lighter tone of Sarah Jane Adventures (so I’m told)
We almost got a spin-off called Rose Tyler: Earth Defence, which would've followed Rose on Pete's World. Looking forward to seeing the *Torchwood (2006 - 2011)* reactions. *The Sarah Jane Adventures (2007 - 2011)* is also pretty good. Less essential, but there is also less of it. The first episode is full length, but then every other episode is half length, but two episodes equals one story, so you can watch two episodes together. So, while Series 1 is 11 episodes, it's only 6 stories, for example. So, while another spin-off might seem like a lot more to watch, The Sarah Jane Adventures genuinely will be a lot less demanding on your time.
Catherine Tate is a comedic goddess - her appearance on Doctor Who led to a great friendship with David Tennant, the two have worked together many times since ... If you haven't seen her character Lauren Cooper (Am I bovvered?) there is a great Comic relief short with her and David that spoils nothing that you should watch. th-cam.com/video/YHAJ4VFStUE/w-d-xo.html
ok I actually forgot this was her last ... ok well let's say last appearance as the current continuous companion. gotta leave you hanging in case she comes back. I can never pick a favorite companion, they all have such awesome parts and actors/actresses. I love Donna Noble and hopefully you already love her, too, since you're 5 eps ahead of me
Glad to hear you're doing Torchwood, around the time you get to season 4 of Who, I'd reccomed, if you have the time, the Sarah Jane Adventures, it's a CBBC series so it's a bit lighter, but it's still quite good, there's an hour long pilot, 4 series comprised of 6 stories each, each consisting of 2 30 minuite episodes plus a final series comprised of just 3 stories, due to the passing of Elisabeth Sladen.
The one thing I can't overlook in this epic finale is the rescue of Rose. I mean, how did Pete know she was falling into the void? And how did he even catch her without getting sucked in himself. I don't know why, but that scene has always bothered me.
Oh, you’re doing Torchwood too? Nice! It’s a great show, however, fair warning up front: It gets quite dark in the latter seasons. To reference a different fandom - You might be too much of a ‘sweet summer child’ for it and might want to stop after season 3.
Eccleston is great, David Tennant is my favorite Doctor with some of my favorite episodes, Matt Smith has some of the best story lines, Capaldi is the most talented actor of them all, the first female Doctor does a really great job and the most recent Doctor is just amazing! The quality of some aspects of the show may vary but it's still better than most other shows...

Did I mention, so begins one of the most important characters in New Who.
