One of my favorite parts is when the cyberized head of Torchwood turned on the other cybermen. Her sense of duty was so strong, it was able to override the cyber programming. " I did my duty for Queen and Country ", to me that was moving.

Man watching David Tennant screaming reminds me how good he is at acting, and why he is my favourite Doctor with his emotion and dedication to the role.

That Rose POV shot of him screaming as she gets pulled in, not only destroys me, it wrenches my heart from my dead body and throws it into a collapsing galaxy like the mother of the Family of Blood from Series 3. Sends shivers down my spine.
Man this show was my childhood, and Tennant being the Doctor made my childhood awesome. My Doctor...my lonely god...it’s been nearly a decade since The End of Time Part 2...

I know the show is about accepting change/regenerations and that, but Tennant was so perfect that the show wasn’t the same anyone without him, and the BBC kinda thought so too, they did think in all seriousness about ending the show after TEOT Pt 2 because Tennant was that good.
As much as I simply like Eleven, he’s too much silly and too little anger. I understand that was his whole schtick, but Tennant had that perfect balance for me, a more angry serious Doctor with humour as an added bonus but not the complete front and centre of his tenure. There were exceptions to that at times, but he’s just a better *actor* to play the character, he nailed absolutely everything, unlike Smith, who nailed the humour, but the anger wasn’t quite on par with Tennant, and for most of the time, didn’t buy into Eleven’s serious moments, BECAUSE he focused too much on the humo- You probably get my point, I’m digressing...
Bottom of the line, Tennant was better.
@@tarantulaguy1998 I agree, though I think David Tennant was only half of why the doctor was so perfect during his run. The other half was Russel T. Davies as the showrunner, and when both of them left (not to mention Rose), the show never regained it's heart.

Yeah Tennant is obviously amazing, but how are you not talking about Billie Piper's acting? My heart breaks a little every time I see her crying at the end of the episode.

Daleks talking shit about the Cybermen, probably one of my favorite scene in the entire show. The roasting and the sass are real there.

Oh dear. Here we go again. Here are the tears (I'm glad Calvin joined me on that one too).
So, when I first watched s2, I knew that Rose was going to leave, but I didn't know when. And for some reason I didn't figure out that it would be much more sensible for her to leave at the end of the series, so every single episode of s2 I sat and was tense with a horrible feeling in my stomach, just waiting for it to happen. It was kind of awful. Then when it actually did happen... Wow. I watched it in the middle of the night (way later than I was allowed to be up back then) and cried all the way to school the next morning. I was really affected. And Rose isn't my favorite companion, but back then she was, much like Eric and Shane, my ONLY companion, and I loved her. And I had such a hard time letting her go.
This episode is brilliant even without all that though. As Eric said, the pacing is great, they manage to squeeze so much in there. And I'm so glad at how emotional (both good and bad) they got in this episode. PETE! YVONNE CYBERMAN! JACKIE AND PETE REUNION! And yet, when you get to that scene with the magnet clamps and Rose is holding on but you know she can't... My stomach still hurts and I hold my breath, even though I know how it's going to go. Every time, that scene brings back those feelings for me. That's some good storytelling.
That being said, I'm so excited for you to go forward in this show (even if we have to wait a week), and I think there are many more emotional moments to come. Or rather, I know there are. Doctor Who is a show of constant change, and part of change involves letting go and moving forward. But you can still look back on the past fondly, as long as you don't get stuck there. As someone very wise once said "Everything begins again too, and that's always happy", and we're about to begin again with Doctor Who in a big way. Can't way. I think it's going to be amazing.

I've always wondered how Pete knew. But I think it made sense, that when Rose needed saving, her Dad would come to her rescue. Even if he is a parallel version. Nice touch.
Calvin was just like me when I watch this episode, I was crying like a baby.

Yes, I would never have thought it possible to judge anyone as being the best companion ever, but Catherine Tate's Donna Noble (from season four) changed that, probably forever. She was just phenomenal.

If you pay attention the music that played when each of them were trying to listen through the wall is the one TFS used for the death of Gohan in the History of Trunks movie. Most of the music they use for Trunks is doctor who music.

Excellent reaction! I felt your pain Calvin. This episode is so emotional even when rewatching. Loved Eric and Shane's reactions too. Mickey developed greatly, Jackie and Pete are together and The Doctor losing Rose. Man, what an emotional ride. I hope you'll grow to love Donna! She's a great character! You can now start watching Torchwood alongside Doctor Who. Looking forward to the Christmas special reaction. Should be great! :)

hey guys. i know this is super old but i'm rewatching DW for the first time in years and after each episode i come to y'all's playlist and watch your reactions. i was really looking forward to this one and you guys DID NOT DISAPPOINT. calvin's tears made me cry all over again! and i saw shane and eric getting teary too, don't think we didn't catch that. thank you all so much for doing these - i'm going to keep going with ep-reaction-ep-reaction etc, but i especially wanted to make a comment on this one since it's my favorite ever episode (except for Blink, but that's amazing in a different way).
Fun fact. Torchwood is an anagram for Doctor Who and what they titled the project to keep it a secret before it aired.

i might be 5 years late but wow what an episode! currently re-watching the series for the first time with my girlfriend who’s never seen it (we’ve been together a while so now i’m allowed to show my nerdy side lol) we were both in tears when this finished. watched it live when i was very young so i couldn’t remember much, so glad my favourite reactors watched this!
I just realized that scene with Jackie and Pete reminded me of Journey's End....that scene.
the actor who plays mickey is actually incredible at playing a bad guy (kidulthood & adulthood for example) so seeing him as mickey is always really fun to watch, i also love how much he changes as a character, no longer scared of everything and can now protect himself

Loved the smack talk between the daleks & cyberman. This was the battle that fans have been waiting for since the two villains were introduced in the classic series. If I had seen this two-parter as a kid it would've been the best day ever.
The emotional thing is something Dr.Who is really good at.
And many more episodes to come guys and even more tears.

I remember watching this in 2006 when it first aired as a kid here in the UK. The ending broke me man 😞was the first of multiple times from that point doctor who made me cry
There is a story called Made of Steel where it deals with Cybermen around a year after the events of this two-parter and it does mention Cybermen made in the main universe (N-Space) not going through the void.
