    Cpt_Foxyloxy did some testing and a S2 competition powerplant gave him 21 pips so that in SCM he was able to fill all pips including weapons (C1). I think there may be a component health tradeoff and there are probably other factors but he was just demonstrating that more testing is needed and what was previously the go-to component may no longer be.

    Trying to shut down and board a capital ship is gonna be intense.

    This is one aspect of how ship combat is still very much in flux and will change tremendously in the future.
    People getting all whiny over MM really need to understand that everything about ship combat will change greatly with big ships, engineering, maelstrom, armor, etc
    Getting emotionally attached to light fighters or really anything super specific about ship combat right now is just setting yourself up for disappointment.
    Buy ships based on looks and role only, never stats.

      You could easily say this about every aspect of the game. Hence the phrase, game not there yet.
      BUT if they release something and a lot of people don't like it, that is feedback for CIG. Not always constructive but that doesn't invalidate everyone's experience with it. Combat leaves a LOT to be desired right now.

      @@androssthered1157 I agree. Feedback. But that feedback is only so valuable, especially when CIG has a much better idea of what the overall plan is than we do. And there's always going to be complaints that have very little merit though. To me at least, that's not feedback.

    I hope they will find a way for solo players to be able to join up within larger fleets through events and incentives for it.

    All I will say is, players need to get to know their ships and componet locations better. Everything is changing obviously, and it will continue to change. in today's game session I was running around the hammer head on hurston, & a random C2, I thought to myself, there's no way a person desires to solo the Polaris lol. But yeah, capital ship battles will be epic I beleive. My max ship sizes are the Spirit C1, Syulen, Zeus. and Nomad minor. I think I can manage those alone thinking of my playstyle being a solo. High end componets are pretty much mandatory for my style of defensive playing so I think I'll be good. I practice with those ships in arena commander a lot though. All in all though, we'll see.

    To be more specific, each ship will have their specific role, strengths, and weaknesses.
    If I were yall, I'd start looking at fighters like support ships. They're good against smaller ships, other fighters, and bombers.
    Bombers are good against larger ships. It's pretty cut and dry.
    Medium to large ships are good against other medium and large ships, and fighters. They can take out bombers too, but that's their weakness.
    When you loop all of these ship types together, it makes a type of food chain. Thats the chain we're missing.

      I agree and when armor is a factor my guess is that a lot of people are going to be pissed again. The hypothetical example that comes to mind would be if you want to primarily run cargo the C2 is amazing for that. But if you want to tank enemies and haul some cargo after armor becomes a factor the M2 would be the way to go because it's a military ship and will potentially have better armor.

    Capital ship combat and Maelstrom will together rip apart the existing combat meta... If done right.

    The challenge is if this is designed poorly it will dissuade people from wanting to serve on a ship. Most will want to be a captain on their own ship.

      Yes at times, but i believe being an engineer will bring a new experience we havent seen before. I think it will be fun. Some people like to tinker and min/max in real life and engineering will be right down their ally. I also know some people who don't care for piloting at all.

    Problem with this is, fighter combat became EVEN more simplified and arcade-like. So that MAY be what they're doing but the result is less than satisfactory.

    • @durtyred86
      @durtyred86 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      I hate to be the one to tell you this but, in order for you to get that combat, they're going to have to make fighters nearly useless against large ships. If they don't, it'll be the same old song...
      Light fighters taking out huge capital ships by dodging their fire and tapping their health down to 0.
      That needs to be a thing of the past. We need to move from Checkers into Chess.

    • @androssthered1157
      @androssthered1157 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @durtyred86 there are more ships that are small and medium than large. Lot of combat to go around without pitching a Hammerhead against a Gladius. Doesn't change what I said. Combat feels more arcade- like and worse.

    • @durtyred86
      @durtyred86 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @androssthered1157 you think because there are more fighters or small ships, that'll make a difference???
      You got two choices, hear me out and brace...
      Or stay with the current mindset you have and end up being mad as all hell.
      Don't say you weren't warned though....

    • @androssthered1157
      @androssthered1157 2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @durtyred86 you're obviously not picking up on what I'm saying.
      I never said a Gladius should solo a Hammerhead.
      If a group of light fighters attacks a Hammerhead yes I expect the outcome would be favoring the light fighters depending on the number.
      This still doesn't change a thing I said about combat between smaller ships.

    • @durtyred86
      @durtyred86 2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @androssthered1157 combat between smaller ships is ever changing. The best thing you can do is report your thoughts on spectrum, the sh*t show that it can be sometimes, it's still your best bet..
      That said, you're still missing the freight train headed right for your face.... There's a huge chance fighters, especially light fighters, will be nearly useless in taking out a Hammerhead. They might be able to target the turrets if they can survive the barrage, but I suspect that after that, they're going to be hitting a steel wall that they can't penetrate. So again, if I were you, I'd remove the whole idea about any number of light fighters going up against these larger ships with the intent of destroying them. It likely will be a thing of the past. The right tool for the job is the future name of the game.

    i wonder who are gonna crew the big ships. No one wants to not fly their own ship most of the time. I wonder if NPC crew is their solution.

    • @danielfeuling4162
      @danielfeuling4162 2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Can't do that. You don't get to say what other people want to do or make blanket statements. I've heard plenty of people tell me they don't want to fly, that they just want to be crew.

    • @kazer4040
      @kazer4040 9 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      @@danielfeuling4162 Do you expect most players to be able to find 6 players to crew their Polaris regularly? I find that very hard to believe.
      Friends might be able to, but what about the other player base that wants that capital ship experience and doesn't have people to rely on?
      Regardless, it is an issue that CIG needs to look into.
