Field Find... Fantastic Finned Fury!

  • Hi! I just picked up this amazing 1960 Plymouth Fury 2 door hardtop that was sitting in a field for many years. Looks like she was last driven in the early 70's and has been sitting around since.
This Fury has been in the same family from new. The grandfather of the gentleman I bought the car from passed the car to his son in 1967 (when he bought another Fury) and the son drove it til the engine blew in the early 70's. Later, the boys put a 383 from a '62 Newport in the car and it is still there today!
The Fury is mostly complete, and will be getting a full restoration back to its original condition. I'll probably leave the 383 in it, as the original engine is long gone.
I am very grateful to the previous owner, Kevin, for saving the car until someone like me came along with the ability to restore it. He had many offers to buy parts from the car, but he didn't want to see his grandfather's car parted out and lost forever.
The Fury is in pretty rough shape... lots of rust and old collision damage to sort out, but I am already on the trail of a parts car and potential donor for the bottom of the car.
Thanks again to everyone who subscribed to our channel here! Thanks also for all of your "likes" and comments... I read them all and answer as much as I can!
Cheers and all the best from everyone here, especially me and my best girl Stella!

My oldest sister got married in 1961 and her husband had one of these. It was red/white and being five yrs old at the time I thought it was the coolest thing on the road at the time because it looked so different from everything else. It had those outrageous tail fins, cool speedo, oval steering wheel with the rear view mirror mounted on the dash. With twin rear antennas and dual exhaust it made my dads 1956 Dodge station wagon look drab, plus the fact whenever I went some place with my sister and brother in law he liked to put his foot in it. Sadly they traded it in on a new 1963 Nova wagon when my sister got pregnant.

Glade this girl's getting saved. Been watching its progress. Grew up with the Plymouths, Dodges, Desotos etc in New Zealand. Where in the sixties they were used to tow horse floats. Friends had a 2 door Ford Ranch Wagon and I had a 1947 Buick Super fisher bodied car which came from Singapour. Built in the USA right hand drive for the USA airforce and shipped to New Zealand in 1960. Its new owner has restored it.

Great car to save! Agent 024 has a helluva trailer, too. Good man to know, for sure.

Rare car, great save. Competitor to the 1960 Ford Starliner and Chevrolet Impala!

So cool to see that old car again, Glad to see that you are going to restore her. I'm a ford guy myself but still love it, the lines on her are so outstanding compared to today junk they put out today. Good luck

..amazing how far this car has come in 5 years...and how much better the video quality is now, too..this one made me dizzy with all the jerkiness and random panning around..made me think I was watching NYPD Blue..😆...this car looks so much younger now than it did 5 years ago!...the owner?...well....😲
