I’m a new two year new quilter, I had no one to teach me except TH-cam. At the age of 71 I could not understand what an HST was so many abbreviations to take in, I even downloaded a list of what they mentioned. I just ran across your quilting skills. They are so easy for me to understand the way you put them together is a breeze. I just wanted to thank you for this in helping me along so that I can do more than share my quilts with my family. I have watched many very skilled quilters and get lost. Just trying to figure out the Block. Your video on trip around the world ! OMG I cannot wait to do this having to piece each individual blocks was crazy, so I never wanted to take the chance. This Christmas tree quilt that I am watching now does not scare me and I cannot wait to try it. I subscribed to your channel and I do not want to miss anything. Thank you so much from this great grandma you made quilting for me a joy.
I am so happy to hear from you! This is exactly why I started making videos! When I was learning, all of the videos I found eluded to certain parts of quilting and they didn't show every single thing you needed to do to make the block. I started making videos so that I can show EVERY step so that there is nothing left to wonder about. I'm so happy to have you here! If you ever have any questions, just let me know!
I have watched other tutorials for similar tree blocks But Yours Is The BEST! Very clear & simple instructions that make sense. Thanks so much! Your designs & videos are Lovely!
I was just looking for a not too complicated christmas tree pattern, and yours was spot on! And not too much talking, just easy to follow, clear instructions. Thank you!
Thank you. This block has many possibilities. I think I will make the 18 “ size as a wall hanging. Put small buttons on it to hold mini ornaments. My grand kids will have fun with it.
Thank you for your beautiful, gentle manner in which you speak and instruct. Everyone is different and it’s a case of each to his own, but hI find the loud, rambunctious manner of some of your compatriots quite jarring to the senses. 😖🤯 Hence, your tutorials will become one of my favourites. Again, thank you Jessica. Best wishes from across the Pacific! 😌
Thank you for this tutorial!!!! I learned a lot! I have been wanting to make a Tree Quilt however I am fairly new to quilting and sort of teaching myself through You Tube.🤦♀️🥰
I absolutely love this block! Purchased it from your Etsy shop, but this reminded me to start making them! I also appreciate how you use your scraps. I have so many, and seeing them put together and look great encourages others to do the same! Thanks again! Still working on my Stargazer…slowly but surely!!♥️
Hi Jessica. Great video as always. I took the plunge and have started to not press my pieces and am finding, as you say, that my piecing is more accurate - thank you. One question, what is the pretty star quilt pattern on the ladder behind you? Many thanks, Lesley
I'm so happy that you are having great results! The star pattern behind me is called Two Step. It is in my book- Precut Parade. I will also be releasing it as a stand alone pattern in my Etsy shop soon!
You can purchase the pattern for the tree if you are interested in making it! My pattern gives instructions for 9", 12", and 18" finished blocks. You can find it here- jessicadayon.etsy.com/listing/1529832455/evergreen-quilt-block-pattern-tree-block?Copy&ListingManager&Share&.lmsm&share_time=1695232667508
I watched you make the Xmas tree blocks. Very cute and looks fun! BUT I didn't understand what lengths to cut the fabric strips before I start sewing????? Help!
I really love your tree block what a great way to use scrapes. Can you please post the sizes for the 12" block. I would love to make them. Thank you for sharing this and explaining every step so well.
That pattern was called The Essential Backpack by Annie Unrein. I was only ever able to find that pattern on Craftsy as a class, not as a stand along pattern from Annie.
Thank you very much for sharing Jessica. One way to find the mark where to sew is to fold down the top right corner of the top fabric (ie background) at 45 degree angle and then crease it either with your finger or iron to get the centre. Another suggestion is to do the marking ahead of time on all background fabrics to save time. Doing it in bulk rather than singular. You can choose either with the pencil or creasing in the event one does not have any other marking tape on the sewing maching itself.
I have said this before, you are an excellent teacher. Every time I watch one of your videos I think that. Thank you for your instructions.
Thank you very much!
Just purchased your pattern and it has excellent details. Thank you so much
Thank you!! I hope you have fun sewing it!

Elaine S from MI love the tree what are the measurements for strips.
You can purchase the pattern for the tree if you are interested in making it! My pattern gives instructions for 9", 12", and 18" finished blocks. Can you provide cutting sizes of Evergreen tree pieces? Thank you so much. I do love this quilt pattern.
You need to purchase the pattern- jessicadayon.etsy.com/listing/1529832455/evergreen-quilt-block-pattern-tree-block
I watched you make the Xmas tree blocks. Very cute and looks fun! BUT I didn't understand what lengths to cut the fabric strips before I start sewing????? Help!
Check the description box for link to pattern .
You need to purchase the pattern that is linked below the video to get the measurements for the block.
Seus trabalhos são lindos. Não falo inglês. Seria legal se você pudesse colocar as medidas em português.
Unfortunately, my patterns are only available in English.
Why don’t you iron after every section of the tree? Does it make a difference? Thanks for the video.
I prefer not to iron/press my blocks until they are in the quilt top. It is a very accurate and wonderful way to do it.
I really love your tree block what a great way to use scrapes. Can you please post the sizes for the 12" block. I would love to make them. Thank you for sharing this and explaining every step so well.
Thanks! This is a for purchase pattern. You can find it here- jessicadayon.etsy.com/listing/1529832455/evergreen-quilt-block-pattern-tree-block
Can I get a patten for the backpacks you made earlier this summer?
That pattern was called The Essential Backpack by Annie Unrein. I was only ever able to find that pattern on Craftsy as a class, not as a stand along pattern from Annie.
Would it be a bad idea to do this pattern in flannel?
I think flannel would be great!
You need to give fabric measurements
You'd need to buy the pattern for the measurements. jessicadayon.etsy.com/listing/1529832455/evergreen-quilt-block-pattern-tree-block
It would have been much easier if you had pressed your seams.
I disagree. That might work best for you but this works best for me.
