It just feels so good to see companies like One Plus enter the competition and make it tougher for the other flagship companies and force them to make their products better

Thank you for addressing the PWM issue / flickering of phone screens ! The community that is experiencing these eye strains and headache is awaiting more attention on this topic, and awaiting a high end phone resolving this, as it might have health impact for many users without them even knowing !
Flickering at lower frequencies can immediately lead to eye strain and headaches. If the pupil has to open and close very fast you can get permanent damage.

I didn't know that the flickering is common issue, I thought my unit is broken.
This was the first review i saw for OnePlus and since then I've looked at more than a dozen OnePlus 12 reviews. None of the others have as clear and complete a review as this review from this English fella. I found myself compelled to come back and check again.

@@omariephipps5347 Good luck man. Still using my OnePlus 7T from 2019 as the daily driver. Still with more than 90% battery health, as snappy as the day I bought it, not a single burn-in on display, and a camera system that easily competes with today's flagships. A good choice can last you a lifetime.
I have a OP 8T (still an amazing phone for being almost 4yr old) and I find myself using the alert slider all the time. It's honestly one of my favorite features of the phone. Edit: I have the OP12 now, and it's absolutely incredible.
I also have the 8t and love the slider but the way they replaced oxygen OS by color OS is a dealbreaker for me, I could not buy a OnePlus phone again because they messed up the software so much
This channel has become my go to for reviewing new phones. Accompanied with extended detailing, my man goes to the next level of explaining things in laymans terms, and not to mention the incredible animation and editing. Kudos to your growth.
Its sad to these legends selling out. Jerryrig can now be invited to events and sponsored for a influenced review. MKB was always in Apple's back pocket. But this guy Aaron is now clearly paid by the likes of OnePlus and presents biased influenced reviews. Half of the review he was reading word for word a script OnePlus PR team gave him in exchange for money. The script was to the side of the camera you can see him constantly glancing lol
@@PeterPing I had a 5T and changed the battery after 2 years, expecting a big difference. It didn't really make a difference, which makes me think, probably the software played a role in it.
I'm getting my S24 Ultra but I seem to really like what OnePlus is doing with these phones! Used to love them and had a OnePlus 7 Pro but they started getting more expensive and became less worth it over other brands. But these seem priced very well and I'll have to keep an eye on them.
Almost all games basically 120fps in this phone wtf. And the UI seemingly matched with iPhone UI optimizations because of hardware to software "communication" (whatever that was). OnePlus 12 is outrageously so powerful and ridiculously cheap for a flagship. January isn't even over yet we already get flagship phones this weirdly powerful. Like what will happen for the next 11 months??
This is definitely a phone I’m looking forward to try! I’ve been an iPhone and Samsung user, and this one is definitely looking like a flagship of the year!
I wouldn't go for the 1+. Its still unpolished in my view. It looks ugly and that camera nah. I can't imagine not using Samsung. The user experience on their flagships is just top tier for me personally. That said 1+ is really doing amazing work
9:22 You can get a circle but it's a bit hidden. When selecting the square icons, you can adjust the corner radius. If you turn it all the way up, it'll end up as a circle. At least that's the way it works on OxygenOS 12 - they might've changed it but I don't see why they'd do that.
The better question would be why WOULDN'T you want a square for your icons. It's the best utilization of your screen space possible. Ant it just looks better
@@nicolsson_yt8344 It IS better utilization because for the same radius/side length, the square uses more space (better usage of the space) than the circle (which will have empty area where the squares corners would be), which is exactly what you just said 😂
@@Rafaelinux I personally use circles as I don't want my icons to be too big. I don't even think the hitbox matches the shape anyway, so there is no real disadvantage to using circle icons. Comes down to personal preference. Wouldn't even say square icons utilize the screen space better as you get to see more of your wallpaper with circle icons.

I was looking for a new phone and I considered getting S24 Ultra but a lot of their improvements is focused on camera. That's just a thing that I really don't use that often, I have no interest in capturing every moment of my life. However, this phone looks amazing for me - great performance , great battery life, cheaper than iPhone and Samsung... And if the only worse parameter is camera, well, it's not really a competition anymore. Thanks for this review!
OnePlus Cameras will receive updates as usual thant many revivers don't mention an lack common understanding. Every year same thing. They never learn. The Camera is awesome. Those small annoyance is will disappear in 2 month period. The phone just lunch today for Pre-ordarly Globally. Also, One Plus 12 has slightly bigger Sensor than iPhones an Samsung Cameras.
I have a OnePlus 8t, been using it full-time for 3+ years, I'm still so impressed with this phone, it's not even funny. I bought it for ≈$360 and I swear it still works flawlessly, the battery lasts all day, and it charges up so fast. The screen looks good, the OS is almost identical to what you're showing me here. And the only thing really that I'm missing out on is the way better camera, and if I opt for the op 12 I'd get wireless charging. The most computer heavy thing I might do is play Cod mobile, and I play it on this phone at Max settings, so idk I guess I have to wait for this one to actually break to replace it. It's just still a really great phone. PS, a family member of mine bought one 2 weeks before I bought mine, and theirs is still flawless and running and charging beautifully. I used a OnePlus 5 for 4 years and had to replace the charging port on it 2 times...
As someone who has been retired for several years, I can only say that I so wish phones like this had been available 15 years ago when I traveled for a living. The devices we endured back in the day were so filled with compromise I'm amazed we bothered with them at all. Today, my day-to-day driver is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, but I am so grateful for the smartphone features that have migrated to it from device manufacturers like One Plus. Additionally, your talent for keeping me aware of which new features to keep an eye out for is greatly appreciated. Your channel is one of the few tech channels that gets the full ring of the TH-cam "bell." My compliments.
I'm not a huge camera guy. I only take pictures when needed. I don't take selfies and upload them to instagram or anything. So this phone seems right up my alley! (Plus, I currently have the OnePlus 10T)
Same here, Oneplus 10T had worst reviews on internet, but i still love it, And this 20 min fast charge 0-100% still helps me alot. (12 Looks amazing, maybe if my battery life goes wild im gonna change it. But looks like i will give him a chance for 1-2 years more. Lets see what's gonna comes up next year... For now 4800 mAh/5400 mAh, still not big jump for an upgrade.
Wow i didn't expect to see such unique improvements on fundamentals on smartphones. I figured we peaked that and now we're onto 'new bleeding edge' stuff of possibilities with pixel's ai processing and such. Glad to see there's so much to do in the base pillars of a phone. This made me want to buy the phone
The OnePlus 12 is surely turning heads with its killer price and top-notch features. The trinity engine, epic battery life, and sleek software flow. were all compelling points. Despite the shortcomings in the camera segment, it’s still quite a catch overall.
You still get me excited to watch your reviews, man. It's been like 6,7 years now and you get better and better. Video quality, humor, you name it, you are absolutely genuis.😊
Bought this phone after watching this review. Just happy to see OnePlus finally make a flagship that can go toe to toe with the competition as a OnePlus user since 2017.
I find it odd when OnePlus HAS already fixed some of the camera problems in the OP12 in their OP7 Pro, that phone had laser autofocus and a crazy good pop-up front facing camera
@@sohammangle1100 as an ex owner of OP7 pro i can say it's true. I've never felt the urge to upgrade to another OP phone and ended up getting Vivo instead.
Just pre-ordered mine, they are offering the 16gb/512gb model for the same 799.99 as the 12gb/256 model if you preorder, plus they gave me 300 for my old OnePlus 9 (which I only paid $300 for during a black Friday sale ) so only ended up costing alittle over $500 bucks for the Top spec OnePlus 12, well worth it. Can't wait for it to arrive the week after my bday, gonna be a great birthday present to myself lol
1:40 The alert slider has proven to be exceptionally advantageous in various situations for me, it demonstrating its practicality when you use the phone for long term rather then just for few weeks.
as a oneplus user I want to add I also find this feature ingenious. Changing environments home->work->home->sports->free time->sleep always used to be pain in the ass, cause I had to go through so much navigation in other phones just to mute/unmute my phone. But with this it's way easier and intuitive
@@elchupacabra3055 exactly 💯, i am a student so it's extremely convenient to just mute by just sliding the slider without taking phone out of the beg or pocket. None OnePlus user will not understand its convenience 😀🙈
As a happy owner of the OnePlus 11, really happy to see the OnePlus 12 absolutely killing it. Welcome back, OnePlus :) Phones like this are exactly why tech enthusiasts fell in love with you guysss
But how is this phone killing it when the IQOO 12 is killing IT lol, the Oneplus 12 is a good phone, no, a great phone even. But the IQOO 12 is an astoundingly great phone that got overlooked back then but compare this phone with that and you won't find much to complain about. That phone has better performance and a better screen (more brightness but lower resolution) for a far lower cost. Cameras are a toss up and speakers are better on the Oneplus and that's it. Vivo is the one that has been slowly but surely killing it for the past few years. My next phone will be a Vivo or if the Oneplus 13 has a better display than the S23 Ultra (peak brightness that is higher than 1250-1300 nits) then the Oneplus 13.
I've been using Oneplus Phones for a while now and I still enjoy them. I tried switching to a Pixel but had to switch back to Oneplus. I don't know, it's something about the fluidity, feel in the hand, and just simple little features that makes it so hard to switch away from. At this point I won't even consider a phone without an alert slider as I use it all the time. It's just a damn good phone for all around!

I think you hit the nail it he head here compared to the noise a lot of people make. A lot of people ignore how a particular system/setup/hardware becomes more useful to its users over time. This is why I'm always infuriated by TH-camrs are and people of forums when they say shout about the best phone everyone should buy that year, be it iPhone SKU, Galaxy S SKU or Pixel SKU. I aways feel like they ignore the fact that phone users are not reviewers, it's not just about new features, phone users actually use phones to make their lives easier and have developed a certain workflow. After that, the best device for them is the one that comfortably fits in that workflow and improves it. But I guess, these videos are for making money at the end of it all as much as they help to keep the manufacturers a bit more honest.
Forever heartbroken that they experimented with the pop-up camera with the OP7 Pro, got massively positive feedback from it, and then never implemented it again 😭 still might have to consider this 12 given how insanely great it is otherwise
Probably because the massive number of broken pop up cameras that ended up in service centers. (Broken can include physically breaking, dust/sand getting into the motor gears,) and also it would not allow them to make it fully waterproof.

Hopefully they fix that with next updates but aside from that every other thing is wonderfull and it is an incredibly powerfull phone.
Thanks for talking about PWM. There are communities of people that talk about this problem. Some people like me can't look to an oled phone more than 5 minutes. But Chinese companies are improving this problem. My Honor 90 is more than 3000 PWM and Xiaomi 13 as an option to turn on Anti flicker. The only two phones I can use for a while. I'm fine with LCDs

With OnePlus implementing the four major OxygenOS/Android OS updates and 5 years of security patches policy for 1st tier models (since 2023), this is looking like a better bargain amongst flagships. 💯 Though Samsung is starting the 7-year update policy with the S24 series just like the Pixel, we don't know yet how and if the hardware would hold up flawlessly (compatibility issues).
@@upvoter8163 Hardware holding up according to OS updates i mean. I have an S9+ i keep as backup that also works decently with Android 10 and OneUI 2.5 too aside from the overheating Exynos chipset and the degraded battery.
Nobody still uses their 7 year old phone. For reference, 2017 launches were the Pixel 2, Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8 More security updates are welcome, but OS updates will make your phone worse. Any new OS update will never be designed specifically for older chipsets, so they will be increasingly inefficient for your older devices. I still keep my One Plus Nord 2 , and it's going for 3 years old this year and I've got to hand it to them: I really don't have something to complain about. The battery is still like new, even tho I really pushed it at times, the software is not lagging, updates are coming now and then, and the general experience feels very individualized because this phone looks and feels like it's owner, thanks to the phone's capability of understanding it's owner. Superb review! Wow. You really know how to discuss details that people might otherwise not understand. Really great review. I got my Oneplus 12 a week ago and I'm extremely happy with it. I discovered that the Oxygen OS 14 has "Transitions" in it so there are like 5 or 6 different transitions to choose from when moving between screens. I chose "roll" which makes all the icons turn into a 3D tube and spin as I move from one screen to another. Love it! My wife's Samsung S21+ was upgraded to Android 14 and with all our searching, could not find Transitions on it. So Oneplus opted to add the feature into their version of Android 14 on the Oxygen OS and give it to their customers. Would have been nice to see it demonstrated for people in this review. Transitions are located at the bottom of the screen when you hold your finger on a blank spot of a screen and cause Widgets and other things to be displayed. I'm also super impressed with how excellent the new WiFi and Bluetooth are. As far as I'm concerned they are perfect. The signals connect way better than my previous devices, and without hiccups. And the stereo speakers are really good, too. I'm a musician and so music listening is something my ears are always honed in on. I concur with all the things MrWho'sTheBoss said in this review.

Glad to see OnePlus back to what they started with, flagship killers. I own a N20 and have been pretty happy with it after owning Motorola and Samsung phones, kind of miss the moto gestures but oxygen, lack of bloat and the battery life mostly make up for that. I believe the recent update fixed some of the camera processing. I have beenn using the phone for 3 weeks and I am absolutely delighted by the cameras. I also have a S23 Ultra and oh boy, at times it has surprised me so much in comparison to the Galaxy. Absolute beast of a phone!
Excellent review! I currently own the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and I have no interest in upgrading to the Samsung S24 Ultra for a lot of reasons. I am seriously considering the OnePlus 12 based on the features and price.
Sounds awesome on paper especially for that price. And if anything sounds too good to be true, there usually is a catch. The catch here is, some features and hardware are region specific. The 6GHZ wifi 6e/7 for instance is disabled for CN/IN models. The esim too. Multiple users after mere months of usage have complained of fast battery drainage with non hyper usage by day end. There also have been reports of software issues(though unverified). Earlier this was an easy decision. But now with more real world reviews coming in, considering the Honor magic 6 Pro and others alongside this.

OK. My 16GB RAM/512GB Storage OnePlus12 is in my hands already for 10+ days and I took it to more extremes I could - Still having a great experience all around - biggest surprise being the high quality of the 3x zoom camera, even in low light. As for the rest, speed, screen, battery life, 5G and Wifi net power, speaker sound quality, reasonable weight, and, of course, battery charging speed, I can't but wholeheartedly endorse this phone to everyone... even with all these high specs, I paid only 1K€ for it, which is hundreds of €€€ less than a high grade Samsung or iPhone (for example, my iPhone 15 Pro 256 GB Storage (not Pro Max) costed me almost 400€ more!). Definitely a good deal!...
Great detailed review. I'd wait a month or two and revisit the camera part. OnePlus usually gets the camera system done just enough for launch and then works on improvements shortly after. I have had 3t,4,5t, 7pro, 7 pro McLaren. I can't wait for my 16gb version to come!
I am still on my 8T and had a 6, 2 and 1 before that. But after seeing their efforts up to the 11, i planned on switching to Nothing or Asus to replace this. But, after the Open and now 12 reveals, I'm very impressed.
Same here had my first OnePlus by purchasing 8t in 2020 still didn't changed after seeing 9, 10 and 11 series but after 12 my mindset has a bit more convinced to give it a try
Those 4,500 nits are probably for just a small portion of the screen at a time and for short amounts of time. The actual, day-to-day HBM would be 2,600 nits as noted by OnePlus.
I am impressed with the wireless charging, there is one thing I enjoy is fast charging wirelessly and that sounds powerful! I would get the charger that goes with it! 6:00
It is great to see them adding the baterry charging optimization! With my OnePlus 9 Pro 5G after 2 and a half years my baterry is at 1866 mAh from 4500 mAh so at around 41% of original capacity..... :(

9:23 in icon style section there's an option named "custom"
Select it and You'll see rounded corner slider there just slide it to max and you'll get rounded icons :)
That’s good to know, still seems wired there isn’t an immediate toggle for it since that’s most people’s preferred shape for android

Still with we had that old stock android look from the pre oxygen days. But still looks amazing with all the customization
Love the way you dimmed the video brightness when you were talking about dimming.

Me too with one plus 7 pro
I miss the slider and warp charging after moving to pixel 8 from the 8t, but unfortunately 8t is unusable without custom roms
Same with my 9 pro, and the 6 before it!
With my 6t i don't even use the slider much because i just always keep my phone on silent, still a nice touch though.
I also have the 8t and love the slider but the way they replaced oxygen OS by color OS is a dealbreaker for me, I could not buy a OnePlus phone again because they messed up the software so much

It works, I'm on OOS14 OnePlus 11.
The better question would be why WOULDN'T you want a square for your icons. It's the best utilization of your screen space possible. Ant it just looks better
@@Rafaelinux but its not? a circle is smaller than a square if the diameter is equal to the squares side

I still have an S6 that works decently,...Samsung's hardware has always held up. They don't purposely slowdown their phones like Apple does.
For reference, 2017 launches were the Pixel 2, Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8
More security updates are welcome, but OS updates will make your phone worse. Any new OS update will never be designed specifically for older chipsets, so they will be increasingly inefficient for your older devices.
Bottom line, don't fall for the number of years of updates advertising thinking you'll keep the phone for that long

Compared to my other Huawei P30 Pro which was more expensive at launch, it beats it at almost every aspect except the screen, which is lagging behind . The features mentioned of quick startup, fingerprint animations, power consumption feature that track background, one handed mode and many more are already present in Realme phones. I still get these features in my old Realme X7 Max . Very cool
I have a oneplus 6t, i have all those features. he is just finding them out now
yeah, i have all theese features in my 3+ years old oneplus nord
Yeah my 2 years old Realme GT neo 2 has all these things.
They're a direct port over from previous iterations of OnePlus phones. Oppo and Realme also have them, since they run the same/ similar software.
I have all those in my midrange oppo a78, Color OS 13.1
You should have run some benchmarks with Samsung S24 Ultra, iPhone 15 Pro Max and OnePlus 12 - curious to see what the numbers come to.
Oneplus 12 highest AnTuTu score its very impressing 2.3 m
Benchmarks don't tell the daily experience of phones at this price range, like the responsiveness of opening an app or how the software behaves to keep apps running in the background
I concur with all the things MrWho'sTheBoss said in this review.
i read all of it 😭
8:10 finally someone understood, I was saying from a year ago that my Xiaomi's POCO F5 at 256$ has display better then Samsung S23U or an iPhone 15 Pro Max coz of 1920hz PWM dimming and 12bit (68B) colours and Dolby Vision(absent in S23U), everyone was laughing, but finally he understood 🎉🥰
Ah fellow POCO F5 user
I don't know why samsung and apple still ignore those things
Not that it's ever visible to the casual eye.
@@Oussama.DJ1Because iSheeps and Scamsong users will defend their favourite brands always. So why Apple and Samsung going to care about that?
@@D1smantle eye records in infinity fps, recognise 60fps and able to process only 16 fps in second, so even if it is not going to be visible through a naked eye, unconsciously it adds strain to eye to an eye sensitive person. And is not recommended to use for long term to any person, flagships must have these coz they are made for long term, but iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung S23 Ultra (or even in S24U), they are missing like they we are missing charger in their box 🎁 🙂, it is more important then Dolby Vision or 2k resolution in display.✅
Glad to see OnePlus back to what they started with, flagship killers. I own a N20 and have been pretty happy with it after owning Motorola and Samsung phones, kind of miss the moto gestures but oxygen, lack of bloat and the battery life mostly make up for that. The shelf like you mentioned is one of the thing that doesn't make much sense and the N20 not being one of the higher end phones doesn't get android version updates like the others but for the money great phone for my use.
Watching on my oneplus 7 pro i bought in june 2019 and original battery life is still great. Havent had to replace it yet and still get 6 hours screen on time. Popup front camera still working like new. I remember all the journalist questioned the front camera mechanism. I would upgrade when the go back to a popup camera i cant get over the hole punch or iphone notch.
I bought the oneplus 12 because of you so thank you❤️❤️❤️❤️ i looked for a alternative to the oppo find x7 ultra and than i find the video. So much love and thank you❤️
The feature at 10:18 where he talks about one handed mode is available in my one plus 7 as well so i don;t think its new but is quite handy and quick launch as well
Iykyk
😂😂😂
You only found one feature?
Actually most of the features he is talking about are already present in my old OnePlus 8.
Looks like a paid promotion by him as he is talking thoroughly about all OnePlus features instead of just sticking with OnePlus 12 new features.
Imagine New Samsung and iPhone launched and a reviewer started talking about old OneUi and old Apple software features...
I've been following OP12 since it was announced, but your video was the best explanations I've seen.
I totally agree.
And you buy it?
Loved the thorough review of the phone. Finally feels like OnePlus is serious about their phones!
20:14 aside from these WHAT??!?!?
Don't cancel him 😂
Excellent review! I currently own the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and I have no interest in upgrading to the Samsung S24 Ultra for a lot of reasons. I am seriously considering the OnePlus 12 based on the features and price.
Amazing explanation on the brightness and pwm dimming. I love that. Please keep stuff like that in reviews, important to know for me!
But now with more real world reviews coming in, considering the Honor magic 6 Pro and others alongside this.
first tech review video that was unrelated to anything I was currently looking to buy that i watched til completion. Learned quite a bit about new tech. Subscribed.
1:50 Gotta love that Arun acknowledges that Ttar's carrying the whole Pokemon Hype season
I loved the alert slider on my phone. So glad Oneplus brought it back.
12:20 Is it actually a cool idea though? Coz like ur front camera is going to be on looking about everytime theres a notification then?
Great detailed review. I'd wait a month or two and revisit the camera part. OnePlus usually gets the camera system done just enough for launch and then works on improvements shortly after. I have had 3t,4,5t, 7pro, 7 pro McLaren. I can't wait for my 16gb version to come!
4?
Crazy how the video reduced its brightness at 8:28 while mentioning about PWM dimming feature top notch editing
12:02 Did anyone else notice “ Subha hone na de “ 😂
I am still on my 8T and had a 6, 2 and 1 before that. But after seeing their efforts up to the 11, i planned on switching to Nothing or Asus to replace this. But, after the Open and now 12 reveals, I'm very impressed.
omg are we the same person?? I have an 8T, had a 6, and 2 was my first (because my dad got the 1!).
try Nothing, its fun af
Same here had my first OnePlus by purchasing 8t in 2020 still didn't changed after seeing 9, 10 and 11 series but after 12 my mindset has a bit more convinced to give it a try
Damn I hated the 8T so much that I decided to never buy a oneplus again (that was my 3rd), but now seeing this I’m really considering switching back.
@@nondescriptusername3665don't, oos is awful
@14:39 Didn't know you were a Pritam fan 😁. Thanks for the fantastic review, btw!
This phone costs the same as the regular s24 but its specs blows the s24 ultra away. That screen brightness is crazy!
Those 4,500 nits are probably for just a small portion of the screen at a time and for short amounts of time. The actual, day-to-day HBM would be 2,600 nits as noted by OnePlus.
@@smansab59 yeah I know. But still, the price is a steal compared to the s24 ultra
@@doodskie999 the price may actually be the best selling point for this phone. I mean, it's a bargain at $800
LOVE THE VIDDEO!! Also love the casual TyranitarTube shout out by having him on the screen as you describe "Aqua Touch"
Facts lmao 😁😁
Noticed that too. Pretty cool
I am impressed with the wireless charging, there is one thing I enjoy is fast charging wirelessly and that sounds powerful! I would get the charger that goes with it! 6:00
Dude. Your reviews are ultimate. The video itself is inspiring. After watching this video, you just feel like going outside to get one. 😂
Bro gives phone reviews faster than even the fastest news reporting channel's 😂💀
Me watching 2x🗿
FR
It's called a review embargo lift.
🤣🤣🤣
News channels fast!! 🙄🤧
No one beats @omaragamy on speed
It is great to see them adding the baterry charging optimization! With my OnePlus 9 Pro 5G after 2 and a half years my baterry is at 1866 mAh from 4500 mAh so at around 41% of original capacity..... :(
Replace the battery
If it's acubattery u need to double that
1:50 Nice to see TyranitarTube get a shoutout, always love to have the homie in more stuff.
