I'm sure you guys have heard by now that Austin and I are moving houses, and you know what that means - selling our current one. In order to get the best bang for our buck, we need to make the house look desirable to a WIDE variety of buyers, so it's time to stage this place! This is so bitter sweet but I am excited for you guys to come along this moving journey with me! What do you think of the house now that it's all 'un-decorated'?

Staging when selling is an American/Canadian thing. In Argentina, Italy or Spain (where I've lived), you either empty the house or potential buyers have to use their imagination. Your style was so much more beautiful. Team fluff, the chopping is ridiculous to me

It's sad that styling for sale is just basically turning a home into a house... I kind of love the idea of seeing all the good memories a family had there, it gets me happy and excited to create some of my own!

When my cousin was selling her house they told her people don't want to see the hyper personalized life you've built in that house. They want to see the space for their own touch and the life THEY could build in that house. Which is fair because it's a selling tactic and you could ignore it but at the end of the day you're selling that house. Your goal is probably to sell it for as much as you can.

As someone who also loves the 70's/retro/mid century vibe, I am super partial to the way you had it styled. I work in real estate and see this simplifying of homes all the time when it comes to selling and I'm always a little sad to see a home stripped of its unique pieces.
Something I would recommend, remove anything small and valuable (like the Google Homes you have throughout your house) if you are planning to host open houses where there will be many people coming to view your home at one time. You never know who is coming in and often things like that can end up going missing. Just a recommendation to protect your valuable items!

I have no interest in ever moving from my current house, and I still found this video fascinating. Most of the stuff the stager brought looked like it came straight from Target, and I know I love my Target stuff with a passion for a year or two and then I'm ready to let it go. My vintage finds are the things that I continue to love for years and years.

Team fluff for sure. I loved all the personal touches that you had in the before version, but it's easier for buyers to imagine living there when the house looks more generic. The house looks uncluttered and spacious, and that's what buyers want. Good luck on a quick sale!

Oh my heavens! No contest! YOUR styling is FAB U LOUS!! The staging style is so without life!! It looks like a hotel not a home. I get the whole 'staging' stuff, but both homes we purchased were fixer uppers & disasters.
I personally would've had to deal with a bad attitude in hving someone tell me what to remove or leave in my home before selling.
You sure did better than I would've!
When we sold our 1st home, we had over 350 people in our home In 30 days because it was MY style, not staged. The realtors loved it. All the homes in our area, ( at the time the #1 buying neighborhood in all of USA), were all 'staged' in the neutrals, so the realtors sd showing my home md it unique.

It is the personal touches that make a home. I always loved how you decorated your home.
The style house did look amazing, it was a nice "blank canvas" and one can easily imagine adding one's self own personal touches and making it home - so I completely understand why they do it.

I’m more team pillow chop, but I adored your house before styling to sell! I love all of the details that make it you, and unique!

I moved 30 of my plants from Florida to Washington state. They all lived! Actually even thrived from all the sun in the car. 🌿

I like them both. I like how the stager did your kitchen, living room, & the basement and like your design on the upstairs walkway, your walk in closet (that room has alot of personality😎)

We had to do this 5 years ago ,so hard to undecorate lol. Can't choose one look cuz yours was personal and the after is just for selling. Just know its a lot of work and you did a great job 👏

I love your style so it was sad to see it go. But, I totally understand the reason for it. I can't wait to see your new house!!!!

I like both ways of styling. Becky's is actually how the home functions, and the staged version is more open to adding one's personal style. If I could include both versions I would.
The home I'm currently renting was purchased a month before renting, so I was able to find the real-estate photos and I was a little upset about some changes the rental company made. They took out ceiling fans! Air flow is so important! They took out mirrored shelves in a basement bar area! I still love my home, but it's not the choices I would have made.

Currently in the same situation, didn’t have to restyle so much but my realtor pushed my couch against the wall every time someone comes to view…that is just something I cannot get used to 😂
Also team cushion fluff! 🛋 and your gallery wall was actually dreams 🖼

I liked your styling, of course. I didn’t think the things the stager suggested looked bad, but it was just ok. Anyway, the point is for a buyer to see themselves in the space so hopefully this helps. Can’t wait to see your new house 😊

I really preferred your home styling. I do not have anywhere near the same style in my home (I'm all about pastels, florals and pompoms), but it was so tastefully done without being overwhelming. I didn't find the records cluttering. It was chic and brought life without being too crazy. The staging was very beige and cold.
