    I love the fact that you use Walmart, Ikea, and also do a lot of thrifting. That is real life. Sometimes designers on TV use all high end , good grief who has that kind of money these days?! I have used many of your ideas and love them, I find they make a house a HOME.

    I'm a landscape artist. Putting a mat around art is like adding lipstick after you finish your makeup. It pulls everything together.

      Totally. I’m putting up framed art for the first time and loving it. The mat says this art is important to me and I want you to enjoy it in the best way possible. My ex didn’t want anything on the walls. I can’t get enough of it, it makes me so happy and I’ve Photoshopped a lot of old architecture and landscape pics from the family’s travels. I love how the mat protects the art from sticking to the glass.

      How would you put a frame and mat on a canvas. They are so deep (1"-1 1/2") and I can't figure out how to do this affordable. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

    • @annanorth7997
      @annanorth7997 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Barbara Eaton I paint on thin canvas boards, so mats fit fine in regular photo frames. I believe you can Google "frames for canvas paintings" to find thicker frames and mats.

    Thank you for these great tips. One more really important idea is to layer lighting and use appropriate bulbs. Way too often people are using harsh blue light LEDs in living rooms when you need to feel cosy. Warm white bulbs are your friend people!

    Love these ideas. I am so tired of beige. I moved into a new house almost a year ago. I started out with nothing. Every piece of furniture I have purchased is some sort of beige to brown. I bought, at a designers recommendation, a natural fiber rug (off white) that sheds like crazy. The rug is way too big for my space. It’s 10x12 and I probably need the next size down. My couch is a cream color and I bought off white curtains and have drilled 3 different widths of holes (with anchors) to get the right width). Now I have decided that I will have the chairs recovered in a bright floral print and paint the pony wall a pop of color to the entryway, something to coordinate with the chair. I had a runner in the entry hallway but it was too short and I didn’t tape it down so the dog did some surfing as she bolted to the door.
    You are so inspirational and I appreciate all of your suggestions.

    • @HappyHarryX5
      @HappyHarryX5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’ve been watching decor videos for several years and as soon as I buy something that’s on trend, the trend changes. So now I’m buying pieces that fit several styles and can be incorporated into a neutral colour scheme but a pop of colour can be added throughout the year. I hope you squeal with delight as you enter each room!

      .....I agree.... It's like she just address tips that are already " known ", and things I've known about for Decades. But she's young, and since I'm older ( in my 60's) ...I've seen a lot of Design elements.
      She doesn't do in depth topics, I've noticed.
      I suggest maybe watch Julie Khuu, she does address certain things with layouts, as well as Feng Shui.

    Hi, I love all the ideas, ai actually used some already and didn't even realize what I was doing. Lol but I added the rug in the kitchen when we renovated it. I have leather furniture and added really pretty velvet and faux fur pillows. My kitchen light over the island space is rectangle like the island. The curtain technique I learned a while ago so I raised all of them to the ceiling and added an under layer. And my mom always had beautiful plants and flowers in our home growing up and she taught me how to take care of them so I just followed her footsteps on that. Thx I'll keep watching. I told my friend I remember when she first started just re decorating her parents house and her sister's house..keep up the good work!
