Just tried this, after debating for a while, and girl. this is the most clearly intuitively explained video out there with little tips throughout. loved following it, and it's scary at first but it just gets easier! my hair looks and feels great, and i'm a 100% gonna come back to this in 6 months! i'm so impressed.
I totally agree! I’ve followed Brad Mondo’s tut before, but he assumes too much. For him it all comes naturally, since he’s been working w hair forever. But for me it didn’t. so a lot of the little tips she gives here, I skipped involuntarily following Brad bc he moves forward very quickly. quick, quick cuz it’s easy, right? Well not so much for someone who’s never done it before
I had to smile watching this, remembering when this haircut became popular in the '70s when I was your age. Everyone wanted Farrah Fawcett hair, and that is exactly what kind of hair you have, too! You're blessed with fabulous hair and a beautiful face as well! Lucky you!
Farrah’s haircut was more extreme, I still have a tutorial from a magazine with the technique which is basically putting all the hair up and doing one big straight cut.
I did it! My mum was skeptical to start but it worked out so well and she likes it now. Incredibly easy everyone says it looks professional. If you're thinking about doing it, DO IT.
i comment very rarely but i just have to thank you soooo much for your awesome videos! last time i went to the hairdresser i had to spend 60 bucks for a haircut that made me cry for two whole weeks, had to hide my hair for three months under a cap and she almost fried it off with a blow dryer.... i used your tutorial about six months ago and I LOVE IT! i was so anxious but i was never so happy with my hair and everybody gave me compliments for it. it boosted my confidence incredibly! i'm planning to cut it again today that's why i'm back watching this video and felt like i just had to comment this time. thank you so much! i hope you are having a great time. :)
Ok.. my hair is 52 inch it’s on a little below my knee and I never had the courage to cut it but after seeing this I cut it right away and I don’t regret it! I’m never going back!! thank you! It looks amazing complements my face shape and gives off “preppy (old money)” style that I like.
My hair lady had shoulder surgery and is still recovering, so I'm DEFINITELY trying this one tonight! Worst case scenario, she gets to do a big, big chop when she's back. Thank you for being so thorough AND concise!
just cut my own hair for the first time, had zero practice, i'm left-handed so scissors were always a problem lol ever and i'm obsessed with the results, literally everyone asked me who did my hair so they can have the same cut, thank you so much for this video!!
Wow, just last night I cut my own hair for the first time in my life and today I accidentally watched your short video. Unexpectedly I did it the same way you showed. It's Amazing! 😍
I always struggled with how much hair to use for the triangle. If you struggle too, I suggest starting with a triangle the size of three fingers from your hairline :) in my experience, it seems to be the easiest way to start and it looks great right away on most people. You can add more hair later if you want :D
I've been trying to cut my hair like this for ages! I've followed a dozen different tutorials and somehow the front pieces always looked horrible. I don't know if I did something different while washing or the planets aligned or this method does some step the others miss but I've never loved my hair as much as after this haircut! Thank you!!!! ❤
this is y’all’s warning that if ur hair is not as thick as hers, UR SECTIONS NEED TO BE THINNER!!! i fucked up and then went to a professional today and she actually said i did really good (so i ain’t shitting on this tutorial, actually just the opposite. it’s amazing and it’s very very well done. if a professional said i did perfect besides the amount of hair in the sections, then u know it’s the shit bc im bad at following directions lmfaoo) but my issue was that my hair is finer than hers! just be careful and when in doubt, put down the damn scissors and take the L. even tho the stylist was as nice as can be, i know she was thinking it was a good thing i put down the damn scissors 😂. anyways, just wanted to put a reminder for all my fellow impulsive girlies that maybe doing this at 10 o’clock at night when you have classes at 9 am is not a very smart idea lmfaoo
What a great tutorial! My hair is very similar to yours, thick and long, and I used to really take my time styling my hair and it looked great. The past couple of years though I just haven't bothered and just tie my hair in a bun, but I'm going to start cutting it myself again and getting my big rollers out like I used to. I use to get so many compliments for my hair and you've reminded me how nice it can look if I make a little bit of an effort. I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more tutorials.
I used this to do my hair and it was so helpful and clear, have never cut layers in my hair before but I’m soo glad i did ,i followed this video and my hair looks amazing now 😭 I will use this video again when it grows out and I will take a look at your other videos too now x thanks girl ❤
I just tried this over the weekend and.....it came out great! I have super curly hair so I was a little nervous how it would look when my hair was curly. Both straight and curly, my hair frames my face nicely. This was also my first time ever cutting my hair, other than trims. I liked how she explained every step and didn't speed through it. ❤❤❤
I've been wanting to cut my hair for ever and I showed this to my bsf who wants to be a hairdresser I told her to follow this tutorial and she can cut my hair and she did absolutely amazing we both love the results of this tutorial and it was her first time too!!
I always come to see this video after a few months to cut my hair like this. I never been so obsessed with my hair before like I am now! Thank you for making this video! It's absolutely perfect.
hey! i have a question. as mentioned in the video she didn’t layer the back part of her hair, so without layering the back part does it look ok? does it blend? did you only do what was explained in the video?
Tip for my girls with wavy hair! First of all I wanna say I've been using this tutorial on myself for a while now, and i wont get tired of it Secondly, I will suggest y'all to cut the shortest bit of hair as long as your jaw. This mostly bc I used to do it as short as her and in huge quantities but whenever i wanted a ponytail I couldnt control it and always ended up being a mess. Especially when it was too windy. Now, to get your hair like it had been styled you dont need to use a hair iron, I used to do that and as Im terrible at it I would damage my hair and take forever So that's a NO for me. I found a solution for a lazy person like me, which is, as soon as you get out of the shower comb your hair, give your curls/waves some form (however you do it) and then just comb the upper part of your hair, from the roots to your ears, and leave your bangs combed behind your ears until they dry. When it's already dry you will realize that your bangs take the shape they had behind your ears, your hair still looks curly and it looks like you just came out of the salon. Idk if this will work for everyone, but I've struggled with hairstyles my whole life and this definitely made everything easier and now I get lots of compliments on it So I really hope this helps someone!
Thank you soo much for this! I have been cutting my hair for years like this at home, but I didn't know the logic of it so I couldn't always get the same result. Tonight I followed your instructions and my hair looks like it was cut in a salon. Can't thank you enough !
hey i have a question, as mentioned in the video she didn’t layer the back part of her hair. so without doing the back part does it look okay? wouldn’t it look weird or does it blend ok
I struggled a bit with my thinner hair while parting my hair and cutting all the layers. Unfortunately my hair was too short to do it all the way. So I really just did the front of my hair. And it looks amazing! It's cute, fluffy, and curly! Thank you for the tips in the video, you really helped me out. ❤😊
Hi im still 12 years im gonna be 13 this August. Well i tried this layer Cut Tdy By Myself.I hv Wavy Hair. I just Can't Believe This Cut Went Soo Good With My Hair❤️❤️❤️. And It Was Even My First Time Cutting My Hair By My Self. Thnx Rachel For The Video. Luv ya. I Highly Recommende This Video

I recommend washing your hair before because if it’s greasy it’ll be slippery and hard to work with. This is a really good tutorial and I was kinda tired of my hair being plain, might use this!
Thhank yooouuuu💗💗💗💗,I did it. I cut my hair at home forrr the first time and it was really nice. I was very slow because I was scared. The reeeeesult is amazing however let me say this the left side looked better than the right one although I'm right handed I think twisting it on both sides would be much more better.
I read the comment ab how i should do it so i did! Thank you to the person who commented about thinner sections for thinner hair! THIS LOOKS SOOOO GOOD

Love your video. For curly thick course hair this isn’t going to work so well though, we cut it dry and coily hair cut curl by curl . Special techniques, depending on hair/curl type and also special scissors needed for best results. Im a hairstylist but cut my own curly thick super long hair cause most here in my location don’t know what to do with my thick hair, its ridiculous but sadly true. My friend had 3 salons but now he teaches at the school for hairstylists, he told me the quality these days is to cry for, that bad. Aspecially comb cutting, from nothing to something instead of using a trimmer or creating a thick blunt contour. This is why so many people cut their own hair these days! Luckily there are people like you helping them❤. Manes by Mell is also awesome btw! So much knowledge and she and her sister share tutorials as well, for curly hair mostly but I really enjoy her content.
Hi! Awesome video as always. I like these retro hairstyles, I think they are far more interesting than modern ones. You mentioned something about filming the blow dry. Have you uploaded it cause I can't find it on your channel? Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work you do!
You know l wanted to crop my hair because i thought its not beautiful but after watching this l want to try this beautiful haircut and take care of my hair more🥰😃 Thank you so much for this amazing video 😍🤩🙏🏻
Oh my gosh, that looks AMAZING!!!! At the end after you shook it out & the layers sat naturally - WOW! I want to do this to my hair but im so scared I'll mess it up! ❤
Are you an angel? Seriously, I don't mean to sound weird lol but you're so beautiful. Clearly, you're beautiful on the outside, but I mean like your whole vibe is radiating. 💜

Luckily there are people like you helping them❤. Manes by Mell is also awesome btw! So much knowledge and she and her sister share tutorials as well, for curly hair mostly but I really enjoy her content.
Excellent tutorial! I wish my hair was thick like yours - my front layers would end up so stringy lol. Beautiful result!
Hi! Awesome video as always. I like these retro hairstyles, I think they are far more interesting than modern ones. You mentioned something about filming the blow dry. Have you uploaded it cause I can't find it on your channel? Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work you do!
You did a really great job. Your hair came out so cute.
Thanks
