Wow. A great sound for them with this cover. I don't think I could imagine two people being any more perfectly in tune with each other playing together. Got a few goose pimples from some if their instrumental and vocal harmonies. I think they should record this one. Love it
So good . So good. Their blend of instruments and voices into beautiful melodic cohesion, just blows me away every time. They are SO together! I would like to think that it is the pure love and understanding that they so evidently share, which infuses their music with a unique, almost ethereal quality. Bravo!
There's an irony in that when juxtaposed with the lyrics, but the harmonies you can have with voices of both genders are really distinctive in terms of sonority.
Sing Along now :D all inside our Amsterdam she hides watery-eyed that howling wind, she’s waving hi her other hand’s in mine oh silhouette she’s growing tall and fine she’s got my back she’ll follow me down every street no matter what my crime all inside our Amsterdam she flies hoarding the kites that howling wind, she’ll take everything but she’s easy on the eyes churches and trains they all look the same to me now they shoot you some place while we ache to come home somehow
it’s basically just Em, D, C and G through out the whole song, with a few variations of those four chords a few of those C’s might be Am7’s, it’s hard to hear the bass notes on my phone
This performance is beautiful. Very tight. As an avid fan of this song, I can’t help feeling like some crucial aspects are lost in this interpretation. First off, the vocal rhythm is just not as intricate and smart as Gregory’s. Second, the final stanza falls flat - it’s a great place to cathartically belt! Missed opportunity right there. The whole song is suppose to build to that section. Of course, this is your interpretation and you have a right to that. But those are my thoughts.
That little smile at @1:54 melts my heart
Thanks ...... we are Amsterdammers ...... as we say in in Holland. those who are born in Amsterdam.

I think I like this cover better than the original... It's definitely the female lead that makes the most difference.

Sing Along now :D
all inside our Amsterdam she hides
watery-eyed
that howling wind, she’s waving hi
her other hand’s in mine
oh silhouette

she’s got my back
she’ll follow me down every street
no matter what my crime
all inside our Amsterdam she flies
hoarding the kites
that howling wind, she’ll take everything
but she’s easy on the eyes
churches and trains
they all look the same to me now
they shoot you some place
while we ache to come home somehow
Anyone know all the guitar chords for this cover?
it’s basically just Em, D, C and G through out the whole song, with a few variations of those four chords
a few of those C’s might be Am7’s, it’s hard to hear the bass notes on my phone
