Two months later they played a cold barn in Lenhartsville, Pa to an audience of about 8. It was beautiful.
Audible beauty. How sweet. The instrument and human voices blend and make magic in the air. It lives.
Mandolin Orange you light my 5 month old grand daughter’s life up, too. She’s listened for months now, but tonight, next to me, she watched this performance. So content and grateful am I that she’s as mesmerized as myself.
Being from Nashville the "corn capital of the world" it drives me crazy that talent like this is not all over the radio. I can literally sit and listen to their music for hours. They did a love video in Raleigh church back in 2010, and it just tore me up. Every time I hear Darling Girl, I tear up. If there is a better contemporary lyricist than Andrew, I've haven't heard them. Hey, Nashville! Get your shit together and gives these kids a deal! Dammit!
Amen to you Ronnie. But that's the way the music business and corporate radio operate. Great new artists like these two put out 3 great country albums and they still remain obscure while the shit that passes for country these days are making it big. All style and no substance. Bittersweet is this old world.

I just herd a radio program the other day about how hard it is to be an upcoming musician these days.
Reason being mostly that people are not so willing to pay when it's "free" etc. Guess it's up to us to drop them a dime for their wonderful music :)
Please nasty Nashville never get involved with these two. They will big business choke their Tallent. But your right. These two are well worth the extra money i spend to Bluetooth my garmin and watch up and down the road
I never heard of "Mandolin Orange" until last week, and only then because I clicked on one of their youtube videos because their name attracted me.

Have you heard of Andrew Peterson? Amazing lyrics also. You can read them separately, as poetry. He is from Nashville. Milk Carton Kids are also a wonderful band I just discovered. They led me to Mandolin Orange. I wish I could have your radio station in Eastern Europe.
Truly is love at first sight with both of them. He's incredibly talented. There's no words to describe her. The kind of girl you want your daughter to be. Gives definitions to the word beautiful.

A friend from Cary NC shared a different video and I loved it - But This is the video that took me! This was NYE and on Jan. 24th 2011 I drove to my sons in the area and we went to see these guys play (with Sinful Savage Tigers - I Miss them!!) GOOD Memories, I made many many drives to Carrboro from Maryland to hear these guys! And then Labor Day this year I flew to Nashville to see them play RYMAN :)

I have to agree these guys are an exceptional talent and they love what they do. I can listen to them for hours too. I put on their you tube videos at night and listen for hours!
I was lucky enough to see then perform in DC many years ago. So glad they toured there. Their music is so real and so true to life!

These two are wonderful artists and beautiful musicians and human beings, if you give their music a listen it'll be apparent. Without them and otherslike them such as Bradi Carlile and and J.S. Ondaro, music today would just be sad and we'd be stuck listening to music from decades gone by. They're keeping great music fresh.

Oh, wow. I was there for this, up there up in the balcony next to the sound guy. Me and my girlfriend at the time just wandered in off the street, and they told us it was cool to sit up there as long as we were quiet.

Wow! This whole performance was incredible! For me the song Clover Tune at 1:28:45 is possibly one of the hest songs I've ever heard. I think The Rock of Ages is phenomenal also! Love these guys. They have rare talent.

I have lost track of how many times I have watched this, so beautiful. But seeing them live 3 or 4 times now in London has been much more special. Each time they are more mature both musically and as group, it is really a privilege to be on their tour path.

I lay in bed awake and I hear my beloved "Hootie" hooting right outside my window, letting me know that he's out there...
So...I pick up my phone & start scrolling. I cone to you guys set up in a beautiful church with the voices of Angels. What is really beautiful is, as soon as. I start listening you start singing about a wise ole night Owl. You are all amazing! Just beautiful!

During Wee Bird at 34:50, Andrew sings "that wee bird squawking *almost* wrecked my mind,” then flashes a knowing smile at Emily. I can only assume they had previously discussed altering the lyrics to sing in a church, and whether that was even necessary (it's just the word “damn”), hence the smile when he does it. But during the reprise of that verse at 37:40, he forgets and sings the original line “that wee bird squawking *damn near* wrecked my mind.” He doesn't show any sign of having committed a faux pas, so he either played it off well or just didn't realize it.
It could be Emily is the “wee bird”.
