    Totally agree that the riding quality improved significantly with earplugs and a cardo. Loop is also my choice! Fits comfortably and blocks the annoying wind noise a lot while the music from my cardo is crisp clear

    Thank you SO much! I've had a Tech Air 5 since I started riding in June, but I didn't always wear it. After watching this video and hearing about YOUR accident, I've been wearing it all the time. Today, I was driving through a 45 mph school zone (highway) when a car turned left directly in front of me. ABS brakes on my Z500 kept me in control of my bike as I swerved left, but I couldn't do enough and hit the right rear corner of the car - taking off the rear bumper. My Icon Storm Hawk boots saved my ankle and foot when the bike landed on it, full force. I got about a quarter-sized road rash through my Rev'It! Philly 3 jeans just above the knee armor., a very small scrape above my gloves and that's IT! I landed mainly on my helmet and shoulder. I firmly believe the Tech Air's immobilization of my head prevented me from serious neck injury and possibly death. It DEFINITELY protected me from rib injury as I high sided onto the car's trunk and probably collar bone and/or shoulder injury when I hit and slid on my head & shoulder. Hate that I wasn't able to get up to see you at Wow last week from Peachtree City. You're my hero, dude!

    Dude I run the tech air 5 leather vest when I cruise. You can't even tell its an airbag system, looks so good. I will not ride without it. It is so so worth it.

    I did a ton of research on airbag jackets/vests and decided to go with the Helite jacket using a tether. I got it over the alpinestars because AStars has very minimal neck protection, whereas Helite completely immobilizes your neck. Helite has an electronic version too, but I prefer the tether (no charging needed).
    Also if the helite deploys, you just pop another air canister in and you're good to go. Dainese and (I think) Alpinestars require you to send in the garment, where they evaluate it, and charge you to replace the canister. I've also seen cases where the jacket got a light scuff and they rejected it. Making you buy an entirely new one.
    Either way, get an airbag regardless of brand!

      100%! That's what I did with my TA5. I sent it in and they repacked it but I know Astars has a few models that you can re-pack yourself too.

    I love hearing about what other riders use! Thank you for putting together this video. Your reflections prompted some thoughts I figured I'd add down here in the comments.
    I've tried a whole heap of different ear plugs including the Loops and settled on EarPeace. The Loops case poorly designed in my eyes. It's so darn frustrating to get the ear plugs back in because the top of the case only opens 90 degrees. I found the case was constantly closing on me as I tried to put the ear plugs away and more than once had the case dump the plugs on the ground. The loop on the case is made from an unreliable material that breaks down within 1-2 years too. EarPeace's metal case is far easier to use. More meaningfully for my ears, Loops don't work when wearing a balaclava. The balaclava catches on the posts sticking out of my ear canal, causing the ear plugs to come out. EarPeace's ear plugs aren't as easy to remove from my ears, but the advantage is that they stay exactly where I want them to be the whole ride. They've very comfortable and both the ear plugs and case are reliable.
    I love Fanttik's devices. They are very well designed. Though, I own the larger of the two pumps you talked about and found that its PSI readings are all over the place. Sometimes it's close to accurate, but other times it gives a reading more than 2 PSI low, meaning that if I inflate my tires to the correct PSI according to Fanttik in reality the pressure will be over 2 PSI too high. To avoid this trouble, I have my motorcycle tell me where the tires' PSI is at, calculate the difference needed, and then add that to whatever PSI Fanttik reads. I might have gotten a lemon of a pump.
    When it comes to plugging punctures from screws and nails, I swear by the Dynaplug quick repair kit. Of all the other options I've seen, none comes close to being as easy and clean to use as Dynaplug's. All I need to carry on me is the tiny Dynaplug ice pick-looking thing and a knife to cut off the end of the plug. The tools take up as much space in my tank bag as a garage door opener. To this day I wonder why I struggled so much with flats in the past when Dynaplug was an option.
    If you're concerned about heat and humidity where you're riding, I recommend Helite's tethered airbag over the Alpinestars Tech Air 5. Pairing one of Knox's seasonless armored shirts with a Helite backpack was a game changer. The pairing allows significantly more air through than when wearing an Alpinestars summer jacket and the Tech Air 5. I still occasionally wear my Tech Air 5, but do so reluctantly. My upper body gets so hot wearing the Tech Air 5. I definitely enjoy rides with a Helite backpack more. The downside to a tethered Helite backpack is that I have to remember to tether myself each time I get on the bike. That action is easy to forget. I also miss being able to stand up on a long ride to give my butt a break. I've heard Helite's electronic airbag backpack isn't anywhere near as smart as the Tech Air 5. Hopefully one day it catches up because an untethered backpack sounds like the best airbag option.
    Thanks again for your videos! I hope the riding stays good down in Georgia as we head into the end of the year.

Just because it's for riders, it has to be marked up 200% because ppl just keep accepting and buying things for this hobby at whatever prices the companies want to charge. Ugh :/

  • @Skiliq

    Since you said that you will ride with the visor open in the summer, do those Loop earplugs block the whistle that you get when the visor is open on the Ruroc Atlas helmets? Not sure if EOX has the same loud whistle. I got an EOX, then sent it back because the change mechanism didn't work as well as other helmets with that same style, I could actually change the Atlas visors faster. And the EOX I received the visor wouldn't stay cracked open, at least in my living room. When they were showing the EOX locally they didn't let me take it for a test ride

    • @chaseontwowheels
      @chaseontwowheels  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know the whistle your talking about. My EOX doesn't make as bad of a whistle as my Atlas 4.0 did but regardless the loops are amazing at cutting out little noise like that. They are also really comfortable which is why I go with them over the smaller disposable ones.

    Why noone saying that Quadlock is one of the worst phone holders? 1. Absolutely no ability to to adjust it the way you want. There's no "360 degree ball" adjustment. 2. In order to adjust something that they give you - you would need pair of hexagon wrenches. Why not use something that requires only your fingers? 3. Amount of the bolts, required to adjust position of the phone is beyond normal. 4. Idea of using your double-sided sticky tape to stick it to your phone holder is ridiculous! How long it will last on the highway? And yes, they have their own phone cases, but did you see the prices on those? Not to mention they are not comfy to wear in the pocket or even to put it on the table. 5. Design of attaching/taking it off phone case to the phone holder is REAL bad. Had a lot of issues with putting it on with my gloves. 6. Overall crazy overpriced for what it actually is!... I wish I knew all this before actually spending my hard earned money on this piece of junk.
