That means you should consume 500 calories less than your X amount. This is X-500. Does that make more sense to you then someone using 3,500 as an example? The X can be different for different people, the 500 should remain as a constant.

@@JillianMichaels My BMR ( resting calories ) is 1610 kcal a day. Im 164 cm tall and weight 80 kg and i have about 36,4 % fat. So far i went from 93.5 kg to 80 kg from the 1.of january to today :) ( so in a little more than 2 months ) I eat 1300 kcal a day and do circuit training 3 times a day. I burn about 500 kcal every day ( not counting days when i exercise cause than i burn more -500/700 kcal ) im losing about 0,5 - 0,7 kg a week. Am i on a right path? My goal is 65 kg :) i would be so happy if you see this message and give me some advice. I watched your caunting calories video and i just wanted to ask if i understood it right. Thank you! ❤

I have lost about 30 pounds in the last year, and I want to lose 15 more. I am 5'6" and around 170 pounds. I have been as low as 135, but I feel 155 is more realistic to maintain at 41. My body has decided to sit at 165-170 for the last few months, ugh. So I started counting my calories and getting 10k steps every day, one mile of which is jogging. I am also drinking 80-90 oz of water and getting a good night's sleep. My next step is adding a strength routine. It seems like I have already lost an inch off my waist, so things are looking up! 👍
I am so glad you provide the content you do! It is purely pragmatic and a realistic approach vs. killing oneself with standards that aren’t likely going to be maintained. I’m a size 12. I’ve been 10 lbs lighter prior to now, and working to lose those 10 lbs off again. I will still be a size 12 once these have shed. I stand a tall 5’9 with a curvey frame. What I know is I will look healthier, I will be healthier, my clothing will fit better, I will feel better. But, you are right, it is those vanity pounds that are slower to shed. I consistently work out 5-7 days a week regardless of my weight. I already eat healthy. It is like my trainer said, I had the luxury of gaining weight over holidays, now I will work it off. What would be optimal for me, is if I would keep it off and keep a good balance on eating and intake. Rather than roller coastering back and forth between these 10-15 “vanity pounds” over and over in a lifetime. Thanks for the continued videos! They are helpful!🙏🏻👍🏼💗💫

Ok. No lie. You want to take off about 6-10 lbs in a week? Do this: Bkfst: 1/2 orange, coffee (black no cream), 3 egg whites (use cooking spray lightly in pan or boil eggs n throw out yolks) with non-salted spices (optional), a pinch of salt (don't over do the salt.) Big glass of water. Lunch and Dinner: 1 grilled chicken breast (flavor/salt as with breakfast eggs above), 1/2 cup boiled/steamed non-starch veggies and a mountain of leafy greens (flavor as eggs above, use lemon juice and/or a tsp of olive oil.) Drink tea (no sweetener) or coffee (as above). Have a big glass of water with Lunch and Dinner. *drink plenty of water all day* Plus (don't skip this part) 30 mins cardio/brisk walking each day. Work up a real sweat. It's tough, but if you're just trying to get into a dress or swimsuit for vacation or something for a special occasion, this will do it!!
Exactly where I’m at as well. I did 9 weeks of cutting where I did everything right in terms of effort. 1 hour of walking per day at least 5-6 days a week. 3-4 times a week I’d add to that 40 mins of cardio (cycling). I started around 180lbs with a 39 inch waist. Now I’m 160 with a 36 inch waist. Best shape since I was in college. It’s amazing! But, the last 2 inches is so slow to come off, I took a break as I was mentally wore out. So much cutting calories and exercise, eventually I was getting fatigued when the progress slowed. Only reason I’m determined to get to 34 inches is because I’m going to lean bulk to put on muscle and want to limit the fat gain. I’m now back to cutting and have eliminated cheat days (as per Jillian’s advice). But, perhaps I should scale back the 1000 cal cut per day at this point. It’s hard to do as I’m always thinking I can do more lol.

I’m 5’8” 57 this year, I’ve had 6 kids, I work at McDonald’s cleaning, we live off the freeway so it’s super busy, I sweep, mop twice+ do windows, bus tables, Scrub bathroom toilets, walls, clean play land, keep drink Station stocked and wiped down, pick up parking lot, sweep sidewalks, I’m super ODC.. I’m the only one that cleans it so day after day I start over, I only work 5 hours Straight nostrils flaring lol!! it kicks my ass, my shoulders and arms are trashed when I get home, but I love my job because people come in and tell me daily it’s the cleanest fast food Restaurant they have ever seen, we get our local high school kids plus 3 Asian tour busses come in our full busses filled with basketball teams I’m the only Lobby girl they have. I’m the oldest one there too!! I eat a plain salad with apples and raisins and egg and a quarter pounder meat patty with no seasoning on it lime, I’m not super skinny anymore but very muscular, I’m weighing 170 right now but want to lose about 20 lbs , I used to be 120 lbs after 3 kids but my kids are super big!! Sons who are 6’6. 6’5. Daughters 6’1”. And 5’11 I was 38 when I had my last son he’s the biggest, he was 8 lbs 11 oz a month early.. lol .. my Daughters played college basketball we own a gym hubby and family have competed in body building! I've went from 228lbs to 160lbs in 8 months by simply doing low carb/high protein diet with intermittent fasting, it's not for everyone but I suggest you find what fits you best!!

This speaks to my soul! Toiling away to lose what is probably about 5-7lbs extra and it’s SO HARD (doesn’t help that the older you are, the less your metabolism has your back)!
As I understand it, devices like the Fitbit tend to overestimate calories burnt. How can we compensate for that? If in theory I should be aiming for a 3,500 calorie deficit in a week, and I can accurately count intake calories but the output calories are potentially rather inaccurate, should I aim for a weekly deficit more like 4,500 to cover myself?
This changed my entire perspective I have 15 pounds to lose on my body doesn't want to budge the smallest I got to was a size 3 and now I'm a 7 and I want to get back down to at least the four I am 5 5 and was 133lbs no I'm about 149-151 and I just keep fluctuating in the 140s I do not have my two days but for some reason I just can't get these last pounds off I'm going for it in the next 60 days summer is right around the corner best of luck to myself LOL...🙏👏
I only eat 1,200 -1,300 calories per day. I can’t cut that by 500. It would be too low. Is it okay to cut by 100 calories? This is while simultaneously increasing my step count. I currently do 10,000 - 12,000 steps per day. I’m thinking of bumping that to 15,000 steps per day. I’m 5’2” at 123 pounds. My goal weight is 110-115. I also strength train once or twice a week. My husband is recommending bumping that to 3 times a week. Any other suggestions? I’m kinda frustrated here. Thanks in advance.

I haven't been exercising or getting enough sleep because I'm stressed and trying to fit studying for class. This summer I'm not taking any classes and solely focusing on exercising and resistance training. I'm eating 1200 cals a day. I've been experiencing plateau for a couple months. Was 189 lbs june 2020 now I'm 157 lbs june 2021. But I've been plateauing since january from 155-158 lbs. Do you think my plan for summer will work if I stick to 1200 cals/day. Hey Jillian, I'm thinking this video maaay apply to me?? However, I turned 40 semi recently and I gained weight I can't seem to get rid of. Prior to turning 40...actually around 37/38, the weight started coming on, and then when I hit 40, PLOP! IT hit hard and won't seem to go away. I'm up to about a size 8 now when I used to be about a size 2/4. I eat very healthy, drink lots of water, keep low sodium, am very active and work out, but the weight won't seem to budge. It's not necessarily just in my belly, but all over. Which is how I gain weight when I do, all over. Any tips woukd be greatly appreciated bc I'm at a loss and the added weight doesn't look healthy on my 5'3" body and it's really depressing me and bringing down my self esteem. Thank you so much!

I don’t want to be skinny just tones and healthy. I have no cartilage in my knees and that keeps me from doing a lot of my activities to the level i would like to enjoy, i get bummed out by this and eat! 😢
Just eat less - for example, skip dinner eat a strong breakfast, eat "light" food, no empty calories and exercise regularly. It worked for me.
This speaks to my soul! Toiling away to lose what is probably about 5-7lbs extra and it’s SO HARD (doesn’t help that the older you are, the less your metabolism has your back)!

As I understand it, devices like the Fitbit tend to overestimate calories burnt. How can we compensate for that? If in theory I should be aiming for a 3,500 calorie deficit in a week, and I can accurately count intake calories but the output calories are potentially rather inaccurate, should I aim for a weekly deficit more like 4,500 to cover myself?

This changed my entire perspective I have 15 pounds to lose on my body doesn't want to budge the smallest I got to was a size 3 and now I'm a 7 and I want to get back down to at least the four I am 5 5 and was 133lbs no I'm about 149-151 and I just keep fluctuating in the 140s I do not have my two days but for some reason I just can't get these last pounds off I'm going for it in the next 60 days summer is right around the corner best of luck to myself LOL...🙏👏

Pretty good advice, or just match your calories in fruit/sugar. High sugar, low fat, low protein is king for fat loss!
I only eat 1,200 -1,300 calories per day. I can’t cut that by 500. It would be too low. Is it okay to cut by 100 calories? This is while simultaneously increasing my step count. I currently do 10,000 - 12,000 steps per day. I’m thinking of bumping that to 15,000 steps per day. I’m 5’2” at 123 pounds. My goal weight is 110-115. I also strength train once or twice a week. My husband is recommending bumping that to 3 times a week. Any other suggestions? I’m kinda frustrated here. Thanks in advance.

I haven't been exercising or getting enough sleep because I'm stressed and trying to fit studying for class. This summer I'm not taking any classes and solely focusing on exercising and resistance training. I'm eating 1200 cals a day. I've been experiencing plateau for a couple months. Was 189 lbs june 2020 now I'm 157 lbs june 2021. But I've been plateauing since january from 155-158 lbs. Do you think my plan for summer will work if I stick to 1200 cals/day. I'm 5'4" female age 31 y.o. Thank you.

Hey Jillian, I'm thinking this video maaay apply to me?? However, I turned 40 semi recently and I gained weight I can't seem to get rid of. Prior to turning 40...actually around 37/38, the weight started coming on, and then when I hit 40, PLOP! IT hit hard and won't seem to go away. I'm up to about a size 8 now when I used to be about a size 2/4. I eat very healthy, drink lots of water, keep low sodium, am very active and work out, but the weight won't seem to budge. It's not necessarily just in my belly, but all over. Which is how I gain weight when I do, all over. Any tips woukd be greatly appreciated bc I'm at a loss and the added weight doesn't look healthy on my 5'3" body and it's really depressing me and bringing down my self esteem. Thank you so much!

I don’t know how much calories I should take in. I’m 1.58/5 ft 2 and weigh 55 kg/120 lbs. I’ve felt and looked best when I weighed 50kg/110 lbs. I work out, eat healthy but maybe too much?? Anyone have any tips?
