Armin is probably the single most important character in AoT (In my opinion). His decisions/actions have directly impacted the plot and every major character in the series more than anyone else. Annie not killing him during the "Female Titan Arc" was the biggest "mistake" any character has made in the entire series.
Because Annie only attacked those who attacked her and she wasn't mindlessly killing everyone she was there to finish her mission ( but FUCK NO, I AM NOT SUPPORTING HER ACTIONS )!
That’s nothing. As a grown man armin has killed thousands of innocent men, women, and children. Eren as a child couldn’t comprehend the magnitude of his actions and they were “evil” in his eyes and the eyes of many.
I 110% agree! I see a lot of people misunderstanding and quick to judge Armin as a “useless” character but he really is more complex than that. I love all the main characters (Armin being my favorite followed by Eren then Mikasa) but Armin always stood out as one of the most realistic, from the point of view of someone who no matter what, does not loose his morality. Even when *SPOILERS!!* he destroyed Marley as the Colossal, he was still unsure if this was the right thing to do (the line where he mentions Bertholdt shows that). Eren is on the opposite of that spectrum who lost morality in the sake of change and freedom while I believe Mikasa is set in the middle. I love Armin’s character so much and I hope people start to appreciate him more!
The best part about Armin's character is, he is genuinely willing to sacrifice his own life to protect others (unlike a few other important characters) and maybe that's the reason he's been saved multiple times from dying. That part of the manga when he was about to sacrifice himself to save Falco.... He's THE BEST character in Attack On Titan.
@@stronzius9327 yeah they said Erwin would support Eren's action and how sure they are. When Hange died and meet Erwin in the afterlife, he even compliment Hange a job well done😂
The newest chapter just completely established Armin as my favourite character in the whole series. He's just so interesting to watch. While being one of the most conflicted characters there, he still tries to pursue the right thing. He's the encapsulation of what humanity is imo. Pursuing something greater than himself, wanting to explore the world around him. To find the beauty in a cruel world
I am absolutely sure also Armin survives. He is the narrator of the story. In the anime both in English and Japanese the narrator is Older Armin and he sounds older than his 19 year old self. I don't think it's chance that in all languages he is the narrator plus in OVA 3 he speaks while narrating in first person, confirming he is telling what happened. The fact that from the very beggining they made him sound older, while in S4 his narrating voice is still older than his current self tells us that he narrates the story post rumbling. Also he tells it as if speaking to someone who didn't live those moments. To someone who didn't know what Titans are. So he lives to tell the tale. My theory is that it is told through a book. Because Armin was seen writing something in a diary the first time grisha appears.
SPOILER He becomes the GOAT at the ending. Turns out to be the real protagonist, gets best girl as canon girlfriend and becomes a world hero and Ambassador. Armin wins in life
He really is the secret main character. He's an orphan, he was bullied as a kid, his first and last name start with the same letter, he has blue eyes, I mean, how do you make him more main character-ish than that? And the whole time until recently I didn't even notice lmao.
Armin's character development is beyond all heights in AoT. I will never stop saying that Eren and Erwin were right for calling him the humanity's savior and strongest weapon. He was my fav since the very beginning and as I've finished reading manga, he has never disappointed me. Armin deserves all the love of this world and even more 💗
The reason Armin wasn't actively strategizing in the beginning of the *manga S4 spoilers* Marley arc except for planning to attack the port was because Hange is the commander at the time.
Unfortunately, Armin is hated for 3 reasons. Reasons in which I personally believe are very stupid ones, but I wanna discuss them anyway. 1. He is physically weak, but has an extremely sharp wit. It's no secret that AOT fans love to see the action that the show has to offer, which is most likely why Levi is still one of the most popular characters. A lot of fans turn a blind eye to Armin because he doesn't have any badass action scenes like the other characters do. But they fail to understand that Armin is far from useless, even if he isn't the best fighter. After all, his plans are the reason the Scouts were able to get this far. 2. Erwin stans and Bertoldt stans don't like Armin for obvious reasons. However, both of their deaths were beyond Armin's control, so I really don't think he deserves the backlash for that. If anything, Levi does, since he's the one who gave the injection. 3. He's so far "useless" in season 4. Well... he's actually not, but I don't want to spoil anything for the anime watchers, so I'll have to discuss that one later. Personally I don't think Armin deserves the hate he gets. But hey, at least he doesn't get as much hate as Gabi does. Anyway, I'm going to defend Armin till the day I die :)
Those who says he's completely useless in season 4 are fast readers. In fact, he is one of the reasons why Eren and Zeke are able to make contact in the Marley assault.
I don't think it's really that. I feel as though Armin is my personal favorite - I see the best aspects of myself in him - but that's also why I can't understand his choices in S4. He was always a moral relativist, why would he not accept the trampling of the world?
@@ST-ly8uf From a standpoint of moral relativism, wouldn't it be better to just let all the Eldians die (or like in Zeke's plan, to just stop them having children), than to SPOILERS commit mass genocide genocide on 80% of the entire world's population?? Neither of the options are good, but one's clearly worse than the others. Yes, the Eldians have hopes and dreams. Yes, they're people. So was everyone who got killed.
@@olived9560 No, you're confusing Utilitarianism with relativism. From a relativist perspective, genocide is only wrong if the subject believes it to be wrong. Armin has no reason not to see the survival of his country, race, and probable descendants as a negative. It's the same with Annie really, Armin doesn't consider her evil because he's a relativist: yes, she killed a fuck ton of people to save a single life, but that life was her father. For Armin, her actions make sense, she was willing to sacrifice her sense of morality to save the thing she loved. He was ALSO willing to do exactly that in Liberio. As others have noticed, there is a rightwing undercurrent to AoT, and this perspective on morality is a good example of that. Morality becomes "beyond good and evil" so to speak. Mind you, BG&E is not about relativism, but its rejection of "slave" morality in which all lives are equal is a facet of Armin's worldview - at least going off his actions.
Armin was my favorite almost from the outset of the anime. I've never been a flashy character type of girl and Armin's growth really made him stand out to me. Seeing him out himself on the line, even though he lacked the skill or presence. Seeing him capable greatness and some questionable manipulation tactics. He's the whole package nas far as I'm concerned. Smart, brave and passionate. Watching him take the helm at the end of the series was so rewarding. I've been cheering him on since the beginning. Armin was my ride or die, no one else came close.
I’m surprised that you called him whiny and incompetent even though he’s you’re favorite character, weird. He was never whiny or a crybaby, he’s human. I hate it when people call him that, they expect everybody to be Levi. You’re not secretly an Armin hater are you?
When you think about it he was more emotional than the others ( not that there's something wrong with it) but he used these words to describe how much of a character development he had because when we see eren and armin talking before they become friends and how armin didn't lose because he didn't run away he is now in a whole other level so yea no hate to any one here of course everyone have there opnion of viewing it
I agree I don’t like when ppl complain abt characters who are “crybabies” or “physically weak” like in the world of aot how would u fare? Disliking/Hating someone for being mentally unstable or emotional in situations where it’s perfectly normal always appalls me lmao. I’m sure there were many other characters who panicked like him or worse, I mean we also got that one guy who shot him self in the head rather than deal with the Titans outside the building. He’s just a curious child who joined because of his friends and wonder beyond the walls. I mean when many people walked away and decided not to join, he stayed firm, albeit being terrified. Armin says “because I don’t run” and his actions emphasize that. Throughout he is terrified but continues on.
I don't think he's a hater :D Maybe he was just referencing the way a lot of people talked about Armin at first. Or maybe he really didn't like him at first but changed his mind later. Either way it's fine, isn't it? It's just his opinion, and he did make a whole video praising Armin's character. That being said, I agree with what you said about people judging the characters for showing fear, sadness and other "negative" emotions. Personally, I think those who only like the characters who can fight well and are mentally stable in all kinds of situations miss out on one of the reasons this manga (and its anime adaptation) stands out so much among other shounen series. Which is showing the ugly sides of human nature, not just the good sides we all appreciate and love. Don't get me wrong, there are other great shounen series and I also love the typically heroic, strong characters, I can totally understand why fans usually prefer those. But Shingeki no Kyojin's characters are different and it makes them interesting... and well, maybe even more relatable? Also let's not forget that many of them are just kids for most of the series. Armin is not a perfect character, but he somehow manages to be a perfect combination of human weakness and human strength. None of us are 100% strong. But all of us have some strengths to offer. And Armin has plenty. His intellect, compassion and bravery to name a few. However, his bad sides: the constant self-doubt, deeply rooted self-loathing and anxiety resulting in indecisiveness are something I'm sure lots of people can relate to. It is perhaps that balance of ugly bad sides and admirable good sides that I find inspirational about him and makes me want to root for him all the more. I know it's just my opinion so others might disagree. Still, I don't really know why he isn't more popular. I wish more people could see how great he is. I'm just glad Isayama gave us such a variety of characters to like or dislike.
@@M_JackOfAllTrades i completely agree! Although I wasn't saying he was a hater, I was just agreeing that I hate when they call Armin weak, useless, etc. I also do think he may have been describing how ppl saw Armin at first. Though ofc, not everyone.
Spoilers (kind of) for anime watchers I would also like to point out that Armin and Eren have 100% fulfilled the "Decoy Protagonist" trope. I think it's become clear by now that Armin is the True Protagonist and Eren is the True Antagonist, and I am living.
I agree too. Most people who are watching the anime or reading the manga won't even remember the scene where Eren said ''The one who's gonna save humanity isn't me or the commander, it's Armin.'' That is said by Eren for a reason. I believe that Isayama already chose Armin to be the hero, not Eren.
Really good video. I never understood why ppl hated him so much. He is the heart and brains of the shows, he still sticks to his values all throughout the show even though he had to lose his humanity.
I found Armin kinda ok I guess for seasons 1-2 having Armin be ridden with guilt over the death of someone who was gonna shoot his friend helped show that he wasn’t just a weakling he’s compassionate, and having him sacrifice himself showed the he was willing to do what need to be done for humanity. And after s3 I read the manga and Armin stepping up as to the lead the rest of the group made me fall in love with him.
Armin is also my favorite character because of how he changed from weak to a strong and never giving up person, without him and his mind the scouts would be dead, and he is needed by the scouts because of him being exceptionally smart and a motivating person
I feel like Armin's personality is soooo similar to mine. He wants peace, he puts others first, he tries to find the best solution for everything and he loves his friends so much that he can sacrifice himself. I am just shocked cuz I never thought that I would feel so close to an anime character that much. He is so clever and he has done so much for the Survey Corps but still he is underrated imo. Haters gonna hate but I think they are just stupid lol. Armin was, is and will be my favorite AoT character. He also has my favorite titan ;)
everything you said just that for me adding that I also always had the same dream as him and I understand perfectly how he feels. He always caught my attention and when the third season arrived he became my favorite by far
I love armin. He has some trait that i also have and i want to be. I love his physical weakness, it makes him humane. Some people dislike a character and its acceptable. But for me why you really, really hate a character while you can learn something from a characters personality/development😑
Mine too since season 1. There's something so real and endearing about him. But many do not understand him and raised their eyebrows when i told them he's my most favourite character.
Armin is favorite. He has been helpful. Not to be mean but Erwin is smart but he is not sure about the plan or his gambling something. Erwin and Armin is my fav. Armin is one of the major characters especially because on how many people he lost and it all ended with him knowing that the best friend that saved him in season 1 was the person that will also end there lives. That is a very hard thing to take but he took it no matter what and he got stronger and stronger to the person he is. That is why he is my favorite.
I think why Eren adored Armin so much was because of how the latter had an inherent zest for life and knowledge, wisdom beyond his years and intelligence. He saw the light in Armin's eyes when he spoke about his dreams and he wanted that for himself, but he twisted the dream into something completely different. In my eyes, he's the true protagonist of the story as he represents what it stands for in all senses.
Manga spoilers! Baby boy Armin is my favorite too but I disagree with a lot of your analysis. He’s more useful to the world than Hange or Erwin because he seeks more humane resolutions to problems than either. He’s arguably done a lot more than either. He identified the female Titan, found Reiner’s hiding spot, helped kill the colossus, and smashed the port at Marley.
Smashed the port of Marley isn’t valid. Anyone could’ve done that if they were the colossus. More humane resolutions? Erwin is a commander, that’s what commanders do in war. He led his people (who Willing joined the scouts knowing fully that they will DIE) for the better good. “He’s arguably done a lot more” what was Armin’s dream again? He wanted to see....Exotic landscapes? (Lol) while Erwin wanted to seek the truth. Erwins dream benefited humanity a lot more.
I agree with, Armin pretty much a superior character to them, Hange is good with technology, but makes only military purposed tech. Erwin has stupid monkey brain plans and even if is inspirational and a Hype Man, he doesn't care about what he has to sacrifice. While Armin has smart plans, cares about the people close to him and even if he had a selfish dream (just like Erwin), he sacrificed himself so that his friend could make it and not let his friends to die just to se the ocean.
I feel like all the hate that this character gets is unjustified. I understand if don't like femboys, or neerds or maybe phisicaly weak characters. But it's still a great character even if he has flaws. If he was just a perfect NPC like a lot of Anime protagonist, then it would be a boring show.
i feel people only hate armin because he was chosen over erwin. and thats a dumb reason, and just because of that many people underappreciate him just because he doesnt measure up to erwin (i mean NO ONE can measure up to him lets be real here). those small contirbutions he makes that ends up impacting the outcome of battle, fans dont even notice that... erwin believed in him for a reason.
5:47 That is pretty much wrong, I enjoyed Erwin as character but never understood why people liked him. I get it he is the Hype Man, but all his plans are stupid and always fail, while Armin's plans always work and are based on logic. It's true that Erwin is a Monster who doesn't care about the sacrifices he has to make, but I still feel like the choice between Erwin and Armin was pretty clear and wasn't that big of a deal (Except for the characters).
I'm probably the only one who fell in love with armin when he was a "whiny little bitch" aka a traumatized boy who just saw his camarades die in front of him. I just loved how realistic and relatable his reaction was.
As someone who doesn't read any manga, I was just as shocked as Armin when Eren got eaten.. I was so devastated that I got involved in his story just to make Armin the main character of the story, at least that's what I had thought at the time.. I have thought about getting into some manga, since just like people say about the movies made about books, it's the same thing people say about anime and manga..
This guy is literally saying everything I do about Armin and him being my favorite!😂. I HATED him in the first few episodes lol. He didn’t become my favorite until season 3
Manga Spoilers for s4p2: . I forget what chapter, its literally right before the end, but you called it. Armin in colossal titan form vs eren in his. He does stand up to eren. He finishes his development. He sets everything up for mikasa to finish eren off. And its beautiful
I think he's probably my favorite as well. But Mikasa and Eren are close. What's really odd is that, as much as I love Armin, I still respect - of all people - Floch. Probably because I encountered 40k before AoT.
If I'm being honest, I feel like Armin should've been a yeagerist, because it would line up with his philosophy in season one. But he probably changed a lot so idk
Armin the worst bastard Like really "spoiler's" Eren killed his mother father the whole world for this bastard and for this reason armin understanded eren like really even when they need power when Zeke's titans were in the walls at the rumbling he didn't transform even when every thing is going to die he leaves everything because miss annie has woke up and after all that defending eren who's technically worst than "hit*ler" I don't say he's useless or Evil he's Just ain't worthy and he is in the wrong place

Really good video. I never understood why ppl hated him so much. He is the heart and brains of the shows, he still sticks to his values all throughout the show even though he had to lose his humanity.
Because he opposes Eren. And Eren has a cult behind him that simply don't understand AoT at all.
Finally, someone love Armin
ME
I found Armin kinda ok I guess for seasons 1-2 having Armin be ridden with guilt over the death of someone who was gonna shoot his friend helped show that he wasn’t just a weakling he’s compassionate, and having him sacrifice himself showed the he was willing to do what need to be done for humanity. And after s3 I read the manga and Armin stepping up as to the lead the rest of the group made me fall in love with him.
Love you man. Armins also my favourite bruh he's so inspiring much respect
Armin died, resurrected, and saved humanity afterwards. It is human instinct to hate the saviour.
Armin is also my favorite character because of how he changed from weak to a strong and never giving up person, without him and his mind the scouts would be dead, and he is needed by the scouts because of him being exceptionally smart and a motivating person
He did not waste no time to call Arman a b****
I feel like Armin's personality is soooo similar to mine. He wants peace, he puts others first, he tries to find the best solution for everything and he loves his friends so much that he can sacrifice himself. I am just shocked cuz I never thought that I would feel so close to an anime character that much.
He is so clever and he has done so much for the Survey Corps but still he is underrated imo. Haters gonna hate but I think they are just stupid lol.
Armin was, is and will be my favorite AoT character. He also has my favorite titan ;)
They're mad because he's against eren's genocidal plan😂
everything you said just that for me adding that I also always had the same dream as him and I understand perfectly how he feels. He always caught my attention and when the third season arrived he became my favorite by far
@@camin7307 My dream was the same too. Idk why people hate him so much. Maybe he is "too pure" for an action anime cuz people want chaos 🤣🤣
Same with me! I never thought I would relate to an anime character, but here we are!
I love armin. He has some trait that i also have and i want to be. I love his physical weakness, it makes him humane.
Some people dislike a character and its acceptable. But for me why you really, really hate a character while you can learn something from a characters personality/development😑
Aot tip: have Armin as your favorite character because, since he is the one narrating the story, the chances of him dying are low :,)
Posting the video in Armin's birthday was brilliant too, nice vid
I think why Eren adored Armin so much was because of how the latter had an inherent zest for life and knowledge, wisdom beyond his years and intelligence. He saw the light in Armin's eyes when he spoke about his dreams and he wanted that for himself, but he twisted the dream into something completely different. In my eyes, he's the true protagonist of the story as he represents what it stands for in all senses.
Armin is adorable 😭😭😭😭
Manga spoilers!
Baby boy Armin is my favorite too but I disagree with a lot of your analysis. He’s more useful to the world than Hange or Erwin because he seeks more humane resolutions to problems than either. He’s arguably done a lot more than either. He identified the female Titan, found Reiner’s hiding spot, helped kill the colossus, and smashed the port at Marley.
Plus his strategies were not really that fatal compare to Erwin's.
@@johnlemuelllacuna7873 I guess you don’t know what War really is..
FINALLY SOMEONE ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND ARMIN CHARACTER
Armin my boy 😭💜 love you
i feel people only hate armin because he was chosen over erwin. and thats a dumb reason, and just because of that many people underappreciate him just because he doesnt measure up to erwin (i mean NO ONE can measure up to him lets be real here). those small contirbutions he makes that ends up impacting the outcome of battle, fans dont even notice that... erwin believed in him for a reason.
I agree every word you said
plus.......
WHY ARE YOU SO UNDERATED?!???!!!
Much appreciated 💪💪 only up from here!
Eren and Armin taking down the Colossal Titan in their hometown was brilliant pay-off to their entire journey!
I’m gonna need a part two of this video after 139 is out please
Finally! I met people who loves Armin😍

Armin was my favourite since they first introduced him
YESSS finally i am not alone I always see people like levi but Armin isn't not that popular
He will be now for sure
i am here just to see and hear my thoughts be validated
Armin= 🐐
@@aniessays exactly! great video btw keep up the amazing work😳
5:47 That is pretty much wrong, I enjoyed Erwin as character but never understood why people liked him.
Btw😂 they said, Erwin will support Eren's action how sure they are about that😂
@Chicken Tendere yeah too bad I like both Erwin and Armin can't choose who's the one to be revive i can feel levi's pressure upon choosing
@Chicken Tendere yeah too bad I like both Erwin and Armin can't choose who's the one to be revive i can feel levi's pressure upon choosing
I'm probably the only one who fell in love with armin when he was a "whiny little bitch" aka a traumatized boy who just saw his camarades die in front of him. I just loved how realistic and relatable his reaction was.
Chapter 137 had so much room for characterization and just so much potential overall. If only it wasn’t rushed.
Armin's my favorite character because his personality reminds me of me a little.
Armin💚💚 great video!
Armin is best Boi ❤️
Yoooo this is fire
🔥
As someone who doesn't read any manga, I was just as shocked as Armin when Eren got eaten.. I was so devastated that I got involved in his story just to make Armin the main character of the story, at least that's what I had thought at the time.. I have thought about getting into some manga, since just like people say about the movies made about books, it's the same thing people say about anime and manga..
I love Armin he is my favorite character
"I'm not losing....because I don't run." And this was Eren's REAL beginning.
Armin aka the Umi Da Titan, dattebayo.
This guy is literally saying everything I do about Armin and him being my favorite!😂. I HATED him in the first few episodes lol. He didn’t become my favorite until season 3
Other than the sort of spoilery message at 9:22, the video was great! Well done :)
Yeah, I always wondered why armin is narrating
@@TiredMonarch I meant sort of up to 9:22 where he said about eren destroying the world which is kinda spoliery if youve read the manga.
Don’t forget Armin’s hella cute too :3

Manga Spoilers for s4p2:
.
I forget what chapter, its literally right before the end, but you called it. Armin in colossal titan form vs eren in his. He does stand up to eren. He finishes his development. He sets everything up for mikasa to finish eren off. And its beautiful
It really is beautiful! Armin fans flourished with the ending
I think he's probably my favorite as well. But Mikasa and Eren are close. What's really odd is that, as much as I love Armin, I still respect - of all people - Floch. Probably because I encountered 40k before AoT.
Arumin Aruriruto
Armin the real bad bitch here
Armin my baby🥺❤
𝙎𝘼𝙈𝙀 Armin are my favorite character too and the Voice dubers too i know her name
wow that was beauty
Love Armeen❤️great edits👏👏👏
Because he simply the best character
this is hilarious considering what happens with the ending lol
He’s my favorite too
TH-cam algorithm knows what I like.
Yes he is de best no doubt
If I'm being honest, I feel like Armin should've been a yeagerist, because it would line up with his philosophy in season one.
But he probably changed a lot so idk
Can’t agree more.
My 4 favorites r eren mikasa armin eren and hange but i like armin the most
I like Armin cause he reminds me of myself

I like Armin but he’s not my favorite. He’s like tails from Sonic. Like he’s cool but not as cool as the other characters
Armin the worst bastard
Like really "spoiler's" Eren killed his mother father the whole world for this bastard and for this reason armin understanded eren like really even when they need power when Zeke's titans were in the walls at the rumbling he didn't transform even when every thing is going to die he leaves everything because miss annie has woke up and after all that defending eren who's technically worst than "hit*ler" I don't say he's useless or Evil he's Just ain't worthy and he is in the wrong place
