These people do not have a live read. They’re just terrible. When you’re playing against bad players, it pays to go all in on the river with your solid hand because they’re going to call. You can’t bluff a fish.

To start I am a full time poker player and I want to say nice vlog man. I think the play was very good overall and the humor was great! almost like a brad owen. Keep it up man!
Keep you head up kid! Gate city use to be Boston Billiards and I remember when a young Asian kid would be playing $1-2/$1-3 at the tables. That young player was Ethan Yau, better known as “Rampage” on You Tube who now plays in million dollar games. I don’t know if you have a tell but one bluff novice players make is jamming as soon as it gets to them. Even on a bluff, take your time like your thinking about it then jam. Best of luck at the tables and your Vlog!
Just came across your vlog, as someone else said I can see you following Rampage footsteps as he started in NH and Springfield. Love the $15 blocker bet on QQ hand, if they raise there on river they always have the goods at a 1/2 game
The KJ is absolutely a punt. A SB open with a button straddle is going to be a stronger range than UTG. With the other caller in between, the SB is incentivized to 4-bet so they don't have to play out of position to two players. I think calling is fine, but the 3-bet is a punt. Also, the 22 bluff is bad in a 1/2 in a smaller pot. Most 1/2 rec players don't look at bets in terms of the size or percentage of the pot; but rather the monetary amount. If you were playing 2/5 or 5/10 I like the bluff.
KJ o is an instafold in early position, and is a limp with position against multiple limpers. Raising into a field is asking to get scrambled. Raising an early position raiser with KJ suited is also roughly insane. CALLING in position requires a deep effective stack and the ability to outplay the raiser
for the KJ hearts hand, its usually a call or fold in your spot. especially at gate city where players are generally much looser there. i can find a call for 20 in your position though. personally never a raise there with the button still to act
Just started watching yr vlog...great content liked it a lot...Now as far as you mentioning that you should have not bluffed with some of the hands u showed I for one think it was excellent bets and the poeple calling you with 97 are just donkeys...there is no way they should have been calling with there holdings and with bet sizes u made...I been playing at chasers in salem and I can tell you 90% of thr time yr bluffs would have gone through I promis u tht at 1/2 table def donno if 1/3 plays more wild but 1/2 won't call you also when I saw the 50 dollar preflop calls with 8 8 and 9 9 you won't see tbt at 1/2 preflop bets..After seeing this vlog I gotta get to gate city now lol wow I had no idea there tht many bad players there jeesh lol...keep up the vlog love the content
I very much agree with your analysis on the 3! with KJs, I think against tight live opening ranges (SB with the button straddle should be super tight, even using a GTO range) it’s way better to go multiway with a strong hand that’s pretty straightforward to play post. Having to fold the equity pre is a disaster and we aren’t going to play perfectly post-flop which will make KJ less profitable in a 3! pot for us than it is in theory.
Yesssss. Love it! Nice Vlog! Glad to see some live casino content. YOu seem invested in this. Cool to see someone playing the stakes closer to me for now. Any live streams coming from the tourneys online? I know theres a delay but I like the MTT's you do.
Thanks for the nice words and supporting the channel since the beginning. It hasn’t gone unnoticed! In regards to live streams, I’m really don’t enjoy doing the live streams as much as creating vlogs. I also don’t enjoy playing online much. But maybe in the future!
Gate City is my home casino and this is pretty par for the course.. the 97o is a wild call.. you can make a lot of money here but there are days where people just do not fold and bluffs do not work... keep makin the vids man
Enjoyed the video very much. I'm not too well versed in gto poker, i generally just play by feel of the game. There were a few hands in here that you lost where I question the reasons you played the hands the way that you did. Specifically the q 10 hand from the blind. I understand raising it up with all the limpers, but with how loose some of these players were i think just limping in yourself from that position is fine. I know gto says "no limping" but to me in this spot q 10 is a marginal hand especially against that many players that probably won't fold for the raise. And then when the two aces were on the board why bluff all the way? You said yourself that the man in the pot with you was a very loose player, so wouldn't his range include a weak ace in that spot? Either way, i enjoyed the video. Keep them coming
Just a typical live $1/$2 idiot that can't fold when they make a pair on the flop lmao. Nothing high level about that. It's monkey brain poker "DURRR I MAKE PAIR I CAN NOT FOLD DUERRRRR"
11:52 Did you put the actual structure of this game into the solver? i.e 60bb effective with a 4x raise and 4bb rake? I think KJs might just be a fold here as nitty as that sounds.
On that hand with the 88, 99, and your AQ, I feel one of them would have definitely called your all in. The table was pretty loose, you're on the button, by the turn there was $300 in the pot already, and you've been on the downswing the last several hands. So I think you did the right thing, not losing any more.
A decent amount of people (typically older gentlemen) buying in for the min in attempts to hit a high hand, but for the most part action was very good!
On the last hand, your bluff works better if you bet pot or 1.2 pot on the turn instead of the 60% pot that you did bet. Over betting turns in rivers with hands like your as well as nutted hands is a better play. In general, bluffing is tough in low stakes, but I think it works in this hand with a 100-120 bet on the turn with the nut blocker and draw.
13:40 obviously a terrible flop call. Fancy play syndrome. But once you make the bad call and the hand runs out the way it did then you’ve gotta bluff.
Gate City player here. I’m not a cash guy I’m a tournament player. If you play tourneys they are some of the best New Hampshire sees. They have a multi day coming up in august.

Forget the block on the river with QQ, the turn is more interesting. I would go close to or pot on the turn, reasoning is that we look like we are full of crap when not betting Kx and we can assume there is little to no Kx in the field as it checked through to you right to the turn. 10x is likely to call off more liberally knowing we don't have many kings. x/f river tbh, as Tx will check behind almost always.
I think betting less on the river with the pocket 2s hand would have got the job done. He probably thought it was fishing since you bet pot. 30-35 probably would have been fine. Also that way if he calls you’re not betting 1:1. You basically bet $50 to win $50 which probably isn’t too profitable of a bluff.
19:00 still punting! You ran good in the beginning of the session. You did nothing special. You won some money. Then when your run good runs out you take the confidence you got from your run good and you assume it was skill and you’re just going to outplay everyone now. Wrong. The old man who has never studied a day in his life has never heard of a solver, just caught your 100bb punt. Save that QTo SB raise for a tight game where everyone over folds. That’s not this game this table has proven to be loose.
At 18:00 it was a good fold. Newbies playing at $1/$2 tables are often too dumb to read the situation and call too much, likely not folding with pockets even though they should, so folding is just better in many cases unless you're playing against more experienced players. Edit: And now as I see the hand at 20:30, and your conclusion at the end of the video, everything I assumed when originally writing this comment is exactly what I'm talking about.
With one limp in the pot already you should be making it 15$ with queens in a live cash game like this but regardless that wouldn't have effected this particular hand, i dont think. I really think you are supposed to bet 1/3rd the pot on that k106 flush draw board, you should run that in a solver but im almost 100 percent that its a bet there unless you had some kind of read or that guy was insanely tight.. even then if he was insanely tight the only way you find out more information on his hand is by betting the flop to see where he is at.
QTo just complete sb from OOP. JJT board with AQ once turn checks probs dont want to go for it on river wouldnt check turn with a Jack or evena baot might bet small so story wouldnt add up just take equity maybe bluff catch river beat all the missed draws spades 98, Q9, KQ.
As you said, bluffing in these low stakes games is basically a waste of time. These guys will play terrible hands, chase, and call when they shouldn’t.
Im confused on the preflop action for the King Jack of hearts hand. How does the button have a straddle and the small blind is first to act with a $20 raise first in?
you are playing so good that you're bad. either got to move to the 1/3 game or dumb yourself down. the other players are pure calling stations with no intentions of folding ever.
Thanks for the compliment, however I don’t think that not adjusting to opponents over-calling tendencies is playing good! Poker is all about making mid-game adjustments and I clearly did NOT do that. Wouldn’t say I played “too good,” but learned some valuable lessons from this session!
16:00 ready. Set. Punt! You’re playing with a bunch of fish you either have to make that 3B bigger or just call and try and make a hand in position with great implied odds. Flop. Bet. Punt! What are you doing bro? You’re multi-way in a 3 bet pot vs fish. Why would you bluff into that situation? To keep your range balanced? How many punts until you learn you’re not playing in a real poker game? Adjust accordingly. ABC gets the money.
Ur squeeze with KJs was too small. Regardless tho, against a UTG open in live low stakes, idk if they can have anything worse than AKs. So I’d prob just flat and take it multiway
11:31 I would have probably just called 20 to at least see the flop... The guy that called All In probably ripped it because he looked at the value that you put in and thought it was good enough for the risk... Like one of your other Commenter said... these guys are pretty bad... this is kinda the curse of going to a casino... you never know what you're going to be playing against 😅
11:20 KJ 3bet vs SB in straddled pot seems pretty bad. Guessing you were on winners tilt and feeling a little too confident for your own good. That’s a standard call imo. And if you’re relying on a solver for 1/2 you’re wasting your time. You’re worrying about your range instead of worrying about the situation at hand. It’s 1/2, nobody is paying attention to if your range is balanced or not. You should be playing exploitative poker.
These people do not have a live read. They’re just terrible. When you’re playing against bad players, it pays to go all in on the river with your solid hand because they’re going to call. You can’t bluff a fish.

Thanks for the compliment, however I don’t think that not adjusting to opponents over-calling tendencies is playing good! Poker is all about making mid-game adjustments and I clearly did NOT do that. Wouldn’t say I played “too good,” but learned some valuable lessons from this session!
Loving the content lately
Thanks Gavin, go Dawgs
16:00 ready. Set. Punt! You’re playing with a bunch of fish you either have to make that 3B bigger or just call and try and make a hand in position with great implied odds. Flop. Bet. Punt! What are you doing bro? You’re multi-way in a 3 bet pot vs fish. Why would you bluff into that situation? To keep your range balanced? How many punts until you learn you’re not playing in a real poker game? Adjust accordingly. ABC gets the money.
Bad raise with the 3 bet on KJh despite the hindsight
Yeah I agree. Thanks for the comment!
KJ punt.
thanks for the feedback!
Think u played fine if was like higher lvl game. But with them 1-2 1-3 bluffs nvr go through
Haha fair enough! thanks for the comment!
What day of the week did you play here ?

@@DukeyBets Word, I usually play at Twin River in Lincoln, RI. Pretty soft players there at the 1/2 games.
Ur squeeze with KJs was too small. Regardless tho, against a UTG open in live low stakes, idk if they can have anything worse than AKs. So I’d prob just flat and take it multiway
Yes ur absolutely right!

Thank you!
You only have to get caught bluffing once to be called by everything later, overbet your big hands only 😁
Yessir, thanks for the comment!
No. You should be overbetting premium and some bluffs
Gotta check out chasers
Have played there a solid amount. Probably my favorite room in NH
You absolutely no way to bluff in 1/2. Just play TAG and wait for a hand.
Yes! Thanks for the feedback!
11:31 I would have probably just called 20 to at least see the flop... The guy that called All In probably ripped it because he looked at the value that you put in and thought it was good enough for the risk... Like one of your other Commenter said... these guys are pretty bad... this is kinda the curse of going to a casino... you never know what you're going to be playing against 😅
just call the $20 and see the flop
Got it. Thank you!
