    I know this video is 4 years old, but I just bought a "new" SXT (a 2004, with 40,000 original miles) with a leaking oil pressure switch. I wonder - if I'm doing the switch replacement from the top of the engine - if putting the REAR wheels onto the ramps would tilt the engine forward enough to help with access, as well as keep that small amount of oil from leaking out? Also, I'm going to pull my airbox, battery, and battery tray, in order to check the condition of the shifter bushings. I wonder if that will help with access as well?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can just reach down from the top and do it if you want to keep it simple. If not, you can access it from the bottom

  • @justingeturgun

    You just found your oil leak. It was leaking thru the connectors and down the wire that’s why it’s all wet under there but the block has no oil on it

    Great video thank you! Will a bad switch cause an oil leak as well?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brittney Knox it can, but you want to get under the vehicle and confirm where the leak is coming from. In a lot of cases it can be a failing oil pan gasket.

    Ey bro Nice video! My oil light comes on when I'm in ralenti and the car hot after some time, but when I trottle it the light comes off. The oil level is good and in the engine doesn't hear any knock or something that indicates a fault of oil. You think the problem is definetely the oil pressure sensor?

    • @PhillipsVision

      Phillips Vision well I’m finished. Mistake 1 was not thinking I needed a socket extension. 2 I took my coolant cap off to get it out of the way and it fell somewhere under the drivers side hood. 3 I’m not sure if the harness is on all the way, I see that it’s not flush and not sure how far the red switch needs to be pushed in to lock it. So now I’m afraid to start the car 😂

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shanna O you should be able to reach down along the back of the engine and tighten it. If the harness is on tight, the red lock should clip all the way and you can pull gently on the harness to make sure it’s locked

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This should fix it, unless there is actually an oil pressure issue and not a bad sensor

    • @justinmurray9369
      @justinmurray9369 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's a random light it's more likely a sensor, but if it's consistent and more commonly a low RPM occurrence it more likely is a drop in oil pressure, a cheap trick to raise pressure is to just run thicker oil

  • @TheBarbaranna
    @TheBarbaranna 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    would this part stop the car from starting?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Barbarann Adamo no, just cause the oil pressure light to come on, or if starting to fail would cause the light to go on and off.

    • @PhillipsVision
