A lovely little piece. When I first saw the oil on the finial, I thought it was much too dark, but the final piece looks great! Carl, you're inspiring me!
Try and try again! Love the way it came out finally. I am still learning to use my offset chuck. Haven't had a lot of time due to holiday pressures but I will get there! Thanks Carl.
What do they say - "Third time is the charm." It worked for you, and beautifully I must say. 👍👍 Carl, it's been a wonderful year with you and Robin. I am looking forward to another great one in 2024. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Really enjoy your video and especially that you show how Easy Woods tools are so good at what they do. I hear turners say they’re scrapers as if that a nasty word. When I get kind curls, I’ll take it! I know the following is a nit pick, but, it’s RPM, NOT RPMs. I hear this often. Mentioned with great respect.😊
Gorgeous! Love the finial as well, turned out beautiful! This is the first time I've seen monkeypod turned, tuned out stunning! Great job Carl! It's always nice to show us sometimes it doesn't come out perfect the first time. :) Also, I have to laugh every time you have to explain the mustard! LOL
Merry Christmas to you and Robin. Great piece and thanks for showing the first two attempts as it will make me feel better the next time my piece explodes on the lathe. Love the finial, currently turning some finials for Christmas ornaments (I know I’m late) will try an off center finial using my Joyner. Lastly, you donated some items to Wood Turners of North Texas at SWAT and I was the lucky one to take them home, thanks for supporting our club.
Merry Christmas and looking forward to seeing you in 2024. We've celebrated quite a few years together. No idea how many but a lot. Remember the sandbags to hold the lathe down??!!
I always enjoy your videos and often watch them several times - so I may have already commented on this video. Do you let fellow turners visit your studio? If so, where is it? I am planning a trip to Lebanon, Oregon this summer to stay with a friend. Are there any workshops or seminars in Oregon this summer that I could plan my trip around ? You are a great source of inspiration, thank you for sharing your expertise.
Awesome box Carl. Love that maple burl and the shape. I really like the finial and the technique you used to shape it. Appreciate the perseverance it took to get a good box -- I guess that's one of the limiting factors with burl, running into punky spots. Merry Christmas to you, Robin, and your family.
Thanks for showing the "almost good" ones. Makes me feel better about the ones I've had self-destruct.
Merry Christmas Robin and Carl! The only turning that I did today was turning 66 years old!
That's awesome Happy Birthday! Merry Christmas!
A lovely little piece. When I first saw the oil on the finial, I thought it was much too dark, but the final piece looks great! Carl, you're inspiring me!
Thank you so much!
The final piece looks great Carl! Definitely worth all the little challenges along the way.
Thank you!
What an interesting a beautiful box. I guess I'm not the only one that can blow up a piece of wood on a lathe. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you John! It's all of us 🙂
Try and try again! Love the way it came out finally. I am still learning to use my offset chuck. Haven't had a lot of time due to holiday pressures but I will get there! Thanks Carl.
Thank you Mark! You're going to have a lot of fun with it 🙂

What a beautiful piece! It's nice to know that I'm not alone in having things blow up occasionally. Happy holidays!
