the "too big =/= oversize" is so real whenever i say something looks too big on me people are like well you can wear it as an oversize fit IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE THAT
Agree except for sweaters. I've been wearing my brother's sweaters for years and I love how it looks and feel on me. It's not "too big" but still a little bit bigger for my body for sure
I realized that fit plays a huge role in my confidence. I used to thrift and collect super cool pieces but they were either too short or too baggy so I would never wear them 😭
making a pinterest board of my desired style also really helps with being more cutthroat with what i buy and stops me from buying into trends that i wouldnt actually want to wear otherwise
something that’s helped me a lot with buying the right thing is to upload it to my digital wardrobe BEFORE i buy. Obviously things can fit differently than expected but you can still see it with your current wardrobe, check if it would work well with it and build outfits in advance! love the video btw, I’ve binge watched your entire channel recently
so so real about the pink lady theory - a charity shop addiction will lead you too own a few to many almost perfect but not perfect pieces xx also fave little evenings spent watching you chat
To help with the resenting online purchases that don’t fit how you imagined… I personally use the “purgatory bin” where I toss things Im upset or disappointed in so a few months later I can return with a new mindset. I find this often lets me forget what I wanted the piece to be and learn to appreciate what it actually is. For example I bought a vest off of EBay I imagined to fit snug to my body but it ended up being pretty loose. I put it away for about 4 months and later went back to it to discover I actually really enjoyed the fit it had! Now it’s one of my most worn items
you’re so right about needing clothes to be interesting! i was always the same and i don’t like wearing lots of clothes but having interesting pieces while all the fashion people say that you should have all neutral basics for layering but i think thats just boring, and wearing clothes that are already cool is just so much better. ❤
trying before buying is so important ! i think that a lot of knee length dresses with straight silhouettes look beautiful on hangers but the moment i try one on i wanna puke (i am short and bottom heavy so i should probably just give up on those) matching is also a problem for me. i am always drawn to statement pieces but rarely think of ways to style them beforehand. but the pink lady theory + someone buying for you surprisingly doesn’t work in my case. i may not like a piece but buy it since my mother thinks it’s cute; i end up wearing these clothes often (2-3 times in a week)
@@ashleighcallaghando you take exact measurements of your body and the ask the seller for exact measurements of the item? This has been life changing for me lol
I’m kind of the opposite I’m actually lacking plain basic pants in my wardrobe lol. Also, maybe that’s just me but every year I somehow seem to always forget how to dress for colder weather in fall.
I forget what my clothes look like on. I cant wait to wear them then it gets cold and I get to wear them and I don't like them anymore bc they aren't how I remember hehe
Ive gone through most of these issues too. Here are my tips -Don't buy clothes that look too old (if thats what ur going for, then fine). But I realised that buying clothes that look faded, stretched and loosing its shape don't make you wan't to wear them more often -Find your seasonal colour palette. This has been a game changer for me tbh. Knowing what colours bring out my natural characteristics and the best parts of myself, instead of making me look ill. -Finding what shapes look best on your body. This is a huge game changer and made me feel confident in the clothes I wear -Fall in love with the item. The item is supposed to cater to you, not the other way round
this might sound strange but you are the first youtuber i’ve seen who has the same accent as me, and it’s honestly making me feel less ashamed of it ty 😭💗
I just want to say.... you are the beautiful girls you talk about in this video respectfully. i feel like your look is so fresh an inspiring and entirely matches up with your philosophy about clothes. In a lot of ways I wish I looked like you! So maybe it is all a game of the grass is always greener, but I just wanted to say that to maybe shed light on a different perspective. Always sad to see beautiful and some of the most stunning (inside and out) people feeling down about themselves (but we all get there). Love your stuff been watching it this past month and it's been cool to have some of my opinions echoed and others challenged by someone who maybe says they don't know what they're talking about, but has some thoughtful and interesting takes on fashion (esp modern fashion) anyways, big love to you Ash and hope the SAD isn't bogging you down too much
yayyy so happy u posted again babes xx the thing with dupes is actually becoming a rly discussed topic, i definitely feel like i'd prefer to own the real thing over a dupe, even though it may be hard to find (especially vintage pieces!!). also looking for some more unique jeans and can absolutely relate to so many things in my wardrobe being too big instead of oversized- the number of XL tees i had was overwhelming. also, hope u feel better abt the seasons changing, i feel it too, and a special sun imitation light really helped me :)) until next time diva xx
Wait the seasonal affective disorder hating your clothes thing is so real. I live in the desert and all summer I want to trash everything. The weather cools down and the sun gets less intense around now and suddenly it’s fine again!! Lol
But we love your massively big clothes!! ..... Ok but yes it is true there's a difference btw oversized and too big - best of luck on your sorting! Omg yes, the best thing I've ever learned about fashion is inspo photo > figure out what you like about the piece > Thrift something similar, not buy the exact thing or a dupe.
I think you need to hit up cheaper charity shops. You said you live in south, my friend and I went on a charity shop stroll from elephant down to Camberwell and Peckham and there were loads of good stuff on the cheaper end. Usually buying online the fit is never perfect, and it’s easier to say no in person when it’s not exactly what you want.
U are so opposite from me in ur dedication to minimalism as I am such a maximalist in life and fashion but I like your thoughts and opinions just the same
6:15 no they actually buy me clothes that doesn't suit me or what i like they buy me alot of oversized clothes just because i give them that vibe they just try to match the way they see me in their head but it's kinda my fault cause i buy clothes i like i buy clothes that less horrible like local shops are horrible in my town 7:37 that's what i meant
Hey, I've been searching everywhere for your glasses, they are so cute!!and suit you so well btw! Could you tell me where they are from? Finding cute glasses is so hard:'(
I have another problem.. i have too much clothes, but i love almost every single piece, i feel like everything i own is me, because i altered most of them to be more me. But, ive gained too much weight and now a lot of items dont fit me anymore and i would be really sad to part with them..
