You don't realize how good of run this is unless you've been playing the game and try to get good runs. If you've never played you see this and think "oh okay I guess that's what it's supposed to look like". Absolutely unreal.

Sonic Generations modern Green hill: Fast paste and beautiful to look at, awesome section in a tunnel and a giant fish that chases you. Sonic Forces modern Green hill: Just add in some sand and a worm that doesn’t affect the stage. Boom, done.

I downloaded the demo once, and I thought I wouldn't like the modern gameplay that much because the classic sonic games were already some of my favorite games, but man, I like the modern gameplay even more than the classic one.
I think it's a mark of how good the level design was in Generations, especially compared to Forces (may we never speak of it again) that even at this ridiculous pace, it still took over a minute and a half to beat the level. On Forces there was like nothing to it and even taking your time you'd be done in like a couple of minutes
You know people say that Sonic forces is proof that the modern formula sucks because It's just a k a "boost to win" :/ Yeah I never understood when people say the modern formula didn't really greatly represent Sonic or something like that. That's just a matter of opinion and it just comes down to your taste of gameplay and not to the formula at all. Simply it's just not their type of game but it greatly represents modern Sonic as he's grown and is a lot more older. That's like me saying Sonic one is just press right to win. If these people just are expecting for Sonic to run through loops from Millennials that's not gameplay progression or world-building at all. Say what you want about Mario but you can't say the Mario 64 is the same thing as Mario Sunshine. But Mario is a different game and I digress.

Forces and colors and even unleashed all fall victim to having zones split up into more than 2 levels. Especially since you only get one modern level per zone in this game, so it needs to be top notch
0:11 Sonic turns to the left, 0:16 turns to right, 0:17 jumps to go to a faster pathway, 0:30 jumps to go to a faster pathway, 0:40 jumps to go to a faster pathway, 1:13 jumps to go to a faster pathway,1:15 wall jumps,1:16 makes two jumps, 1:18 slide, 1:33 slides twice,1:38 stomp. This is all the sections that require sonic to get to alternate pathways. That isn’t a going a straight line if you have to hit other buttons to go to higher pathways.
My best time in Modern Green Hill is exactly 1:35... Ive never been able to get that time again. Closest ive gotten is somewhere in between 1:36 and 1:37 My best Classic Green Hill is somewhere between 0:57 and 0:58
1:40 narrow sections like these where you’re meant to boost need to be more common. This part is only in here because green hill was letting you get a feel for the boost formula and letting you have some space to practice but I genuinely like empty sections like this where you just run and get a feel for the speed. This should be a thing more levels should have and not just be limited to green hill.

Yeah, i hated the boost in Colors and Forces, you had to find wisp capsules to fill your boost, you couldn't just hold the boost button because it would be over quickly
@@D00DM00D Tbf those wisp capsules aren't that rare either. Enemies sometimes drop them so you'll be in stock whenever you need them. Just know when to boost because that's what makes the game stand out differently from other boost titles in my eyes
