Honestly I don’t mind that, I know a lot of Amy Rose fans don’t seemed to like that, but for me unfortunately I don’t really care, cause growing up as a kid I was never a fan of Amy always chasing after Sonic, complaining about him missing their dates when it’s obvious that Sonic isn’t interested in dating, while Amy was written fine in the adventure games, but since then Amy was basically written to be just a simp towards Sonic, so of course Sega and Sonic Team had to make Amy a more mature and likeable character, sure she still has her usual crush on Sonic, but at least she's not as over obsessed to Sonic as she was in the early games, I get that people liked Amy fine the way she was, but sadly not everyone including myself were fans of Amy being an obsessive fan girl, cause not only do some fans find her annoying, but some fans even find her a bit unlikeable, so of course Sega had to change her character for the better.

One of the things about Ian Flynn's writing that bugs me is that he tries to make it so that Amy has as little romantic interest in Sonic as possible, which kind of removes the whole point of her being a fangirl with a massive crush on Sonic. And no, I'm not complaining that they made her "woke." I'm fine with her being capable of defending herself and being her own person. That's what her whole campaign in SA1 was about. But a big part of her character that makes her stick out is the fact that she's constantly trying to show some affection for Sonic, even if it gets on his nerves.

Man, what a glow-up. I remember seeing the original cutscenes, and just being disappointed by the awkwardness of it. I'm glad the new version is bringing some life to this game. Also, I enjoy that Modern Sonic remembers these locations this time, instead of the original, where he was like "hmmm, this seems... familiar."
Ironically these rewrites and voice lines make it way more awkward than the original. The lip sync don't match anymore and some of the lines straight up make no sense anymore.
Ima be honest, I don't like it that he remembers the names of these zones. By this point in the timeline, he's only visited these places once in his entire life. I find it kinda unrealistic that he remembers the name of Green Hill when, at this point, it's only one of several green biomes he has visited on his adventures. Unlike today where he's been to green hill at least 50 thousand times.
@@skrappothemonster1436 I mean, I get that, but all that does is have a couple dozen thousand people shouting "BUT YOU'VE BEEN THERE!" at their screens. Besides, Sonic and some of his pals technically live around Green Hill more or less, or at least that's how it goes these days, I think? Maybe it made more sense back then than what we realized, but nowadays, probably not that much, if anything him not remembering Green Hill of all places would be even more alienating.
"Glow up". This is just some desperate touches to "de-Pontaffize" Generations by adding references and changing the cringe jokes to niceties. But it's still a pathetic nothing burger.
My overall opinion on it is this: Starting off with the positives, the new dialogue is miles better than the original. Do I miss some of the lines from the original? Yes. Is that entirely because of nostalgia for when Generations first came out? Also yes. The dialogue itself feels a lot better than before. I remember really disliking the fact that Sonic and Tails couldn’t tell the locations like Green Hill or Chemical Plant in the original, so changing their questions from “what is this place” to “why is this location here” was a massive bump in quality for the dialogue. I’m also a fan of just showing that it was classic Eggman in the Death Egg Robot, because that was fooling nobody in the original. Both modern and classic Tails both seemed smarter due to the dialogue change, which I can always appreciate. And Sonic actually talking to his freed friends? Thank goodness, it was so awkward before. My biggest complaint is how the animation just doesn’t line up with the new dialogue. I feel SEGA was trying to be cheap so they put in the minimum amount of change into the cutscenes so they didn’t have to remake them, and yeah, the inaccurate lip-syncing shows. Also, because certain scenes had no dialogue before and do now (after freeing a friend) there exists a lot of awkward dialogue that either feels rushed or needless. My biggest example is after Sonic frees Vector, I feel like Sonic should say something more, or take what Vector says into account, but instead he just goes “Roger that.” Like, bruh? So overall, great dialogue change, I really wish certain scenes were changed along with it and it was lip-synced properly
Now that i think about it... I wonder what have they done for the Japanese versions of dialogues. Have they changed them to fit more in-line with the english rewrite, or did they keep it the same
@@oleevvwhat about classic tails interaction with classic eggman at the end? Amy does NOT have her original personality, she got ROBBED
Yeah her dialogue got censored from what it seems. Honestly it wouldn't hurt to have her subtly flirt with Sonic and imply romantic interest. The DLC of Sonic Frontiers is the best example by having Amy ask Sage if she is also a Sonic admirer. No one would mind a subtle approach.

For some reason they decided to put a Chili dog on Silver's hand at the end? 31:03 32:44 why was this a necessary change? And changed Amy's push on Knuckles? The original was much funnier
To be fair, the push made Knuckles look very dumb and weak, which I think a lot of people were complaining about since Knuckles is one of the strongest characters in terms of raw strength (plus dumb Knuckles seemed to be getting overused or something idk).
I love how they just plopped the hotdog in his hand, they didn’t even try to change the hand positioning. It just looks like the hotdog is permanently fused to his hand😂😂😂 Note to self: don’t time travel while holding an item, or it might fuse to your hand forever 😂😂😂
@SSF124Animates Which is why I think the change was made. I can respect that, yet I think the gag was better. It's a funny thing Amy would do in past games. It would have worked in a better context tho, but since it's a moment that is plopped in the middle of an era for Knuckles which has many other moments that are meant to humiliate him, it came off as insulting for some
@@SSF124Animates It makes more sense though I feel an inbetween would deliver the intended joke best. Like instead of Knuckles getting sent backwards into the tree or having Amy briefly grab his head for some reason, I think having her accidentally backhanding him and bro needing to recover briefly would be funny. It is seemingly established that Amy, while not to the level of Knuckles or like Vector maybe, still has some strength to her.
Unpopular opinion: i actually like how they did Amy in Sonic X Shadow Generations. To me it feels like a good medium balance. Not perfect, but alright.
I am SO glad they got Roger a better mic this time. Finally, his voice lines don’t sound muffled and compressed, and instead come out crystal clear. And the fact that he’s gotten better at voicing Sonic over time with amazing voice direction (not to mention the legendary Ian Flynn onboard for this remaster), this is not some corporate poser. Isn’t anyone at least a bit upset about Blaze? Her entire deal in Rush was about her not wanting to rely on others, her arc was about opening up. Why the hell did Ian do all of these unnecessary changes and not change the dialogue that mattered?
You can open up to people and still would rather want to be independent. Her whole ideal was learning to accept others helping her when she needs it more than she believes
@@tailsfan10 Sure, but she says “as much as I dislike relying on others”. This is not about her being independent here, it’s about her disliking to rely on others, which are different. For instance, in Sonic Rush until you fight Sonic, Blaze dislikes relying on others. She opens up a little to Cream, but she becomes her unfriendly self when Sonic shows up. Then Sonic teaches her that relying is good since you can’t do everything alone. But when Cream gets kidnapped, Blaze goes alone because Cream’s now her friend and she owes her. This is her being independent, not disliking to rely on others. Sonic Generations gets rid of the fact that she went through the arc, and Sonic Rush as a whole, which goes against the main theme and thus, the character. That’s bad and shouldn’t be tolerated.
@@MyRoomIsAMess What she experienced in Sonic Rush doesn't necessarily mean she likes to depend on others all of the time. The point is that she's no longer refusing to be assisted or saved. It's the same with Knuckles and they share *a lot* of character principles. At least she's still grateful that Sonic saved her in White Space
@@tailsfan10 Yes, but not liking to depend on others ALL the time and depend on others AT ALL is different. No rational one likes being dependent on everyone, but her deal was that she carried the world on her shoulders and didn’t like ANY HELP. Despite thee fact that being independent is good, you need help from your nearest sometimes too. And she learned to understand that, despite not being dependent on everyone or everything or a freeloader. What she says in Generations implies that she doesn’t like any single bit of help, instead of not liking to be dependent, as you mean. Which undoes her arc.
@@MyRoomIsAMess Maybe we probably just see it differently. All in all, it's not huge deal because Blaze still shows gratitude for Sonic's help in that moment, as much as she said she didn't like relying on others' help
What was the point of changing the Amy scene right at the start? She still goes in for a hug before it cuts back to her awkwardly shoving cupcakes towards Sonic! That was the stupidest change possible
I did like the rewrite. Specially the fact that Sonic now talks after rescuing his friends. Aside from some awkward lines (like the Time Stones one, I think the original was more natural sounding), I think the new script is an improvement over the original. That said, I don't know if I like some of the animation changes, like Amy trying to hug Sonic or her knocking Knuckles out in the final cutscene. I kind of wish they left them unchanged. Overall though, I do like what Ian did here and the voice acting is on par with the original release (specially Roger, he did a great job replicating his voice again).
I want to admit, I love that in the new version Amy doesn't sends Knuckles flying away against a tree. Instead, she just smacks him on the head in a more friendly way, Knuckles even smiles after that. I think it's a way of showing how they are some sort of "Though Buddies", I like that dynamic between the two! And also, it doesn't make Knuckles seem like a joke character. I personally liked the rewrite a lot. Keep going Ian!
The 2011 version was written by the same folks who wrote for colors while the rewrite was done by Ian Flynn, who writes most of the comics. He has a very distinct writing style and continuity for the characters' personalities. I assume some of the superfluous rewrites were Flynn's personal choices.

I guess the budget on the voice acting wasn't that great back then.
I just realized that sega made Amy less clingy to sonic recently.

Tails: "He'll be here any second"
Sonic: *literally there the next second*
Man, what a glow-up. I remember seeing the original cutscenes, and just being disappointed by the awkwardness of it. I'm glad the new version is bringing some life to this game. Also, I enjoy that Modern Sonic remembers these locations this time, instead of the original, where he was like "hmmm, this seems... familiar."
"Mmmm, look at those green hills, where have I seen those before? Hmmm....
...nope, doesn't ring a bell."
My overall opinion on it is this:
Starting off with the positives, the new dialogue is miles better than the original.
It all probably went to shadow's stuff
Agreed, love the changes but sega needs to start giving this franchise the attention to detail it deserves
Now that i think about it... I wonder what have they done for the Japanese versions of dialogues. Have they changed them to fit more in-line with the english rewrite, or did they keep it the same
@@oleevvwhat about classic tails interaction with classic eggman at the end? Like classic eggman says “nobody calls me that anymore!”

Some of the dialogue additions were nice as opposed to the awkward one way convos you get every time you save someone but I don’t like the dialogue changes nor the different voices/voice direction, the lines especially “doubles of us” just don’t hit the same and sonics deep ass frontiers voice is something I’m never gonna get used to
I didnt hear the deep voice. any timestamp?
@iananderson4754 7:46 compared to the shadow generations version. Sounds like a bit of an exaggeration now that I’m hearing it but than their might be a different scene and I do not feel like reviewing the entire video to find it. It’s possible I got sonic mixed up with knuckles because his voice sounds horrible
@@iananderson4754 Found it it was when Sonic said “another me?” in the mirror cutscene.
I'm glad they kept my favorite Sonic quote in Sonic X Shadow Generations. " An adventure's no fun if it's too easy!"
It's originally from secret rings!
@Mijuwott Really? Sweet! Thanks for telling me bro!
Mine is: Then I guess we have to run like there's no tomorrow, or there won't be a tomorrow!
2011: Help us, Sonic!
2024: Help us, whenever you can, don't rush it, okay, bye!
honestly I love what they've done with the added sound affects, redone lines, the background voices in the first cutscene, there's just so many little improvements that make it look, sound, and feel how it did in 2011!
Re written 2024 > 2011 (simple enough.)
Not true,i liked 2011 Better, even tho,2024 gets the win, becuz It fits more, like in the "i cant believe theres two of me (or us)" part
Rewritten is just Gens getting the Sweet Baby Inc treatment...
@@OhKayEl AYE DONT SAY THAT ITS PEAK AND FITS WELL
@@OhKayEl THATS WHY IT HAS 80 ON METACRITIC
For me it’s most of this scene 12:13
Bro this intro is fire, whoever made this great job :D
31:01 UM... WHY IS SHADOW IN THE BACK!
There was no shadow story in the og
23:15 27:13 Nobody calls me that anymore.
Wow, the dialogues are more in character and accurate and they actually make sense!
I feel like someone in the development team probably watched Chariii5 's everything wrong with sonic generations video and changed some of the parts based on that lol.
The removed scene of him pushing Amy back is really unnecessary, but it’s not as big of a deal as people say it is
I'm personally not a huge fan and glad it was taken out
@@SillyTron_I feel like the replacement for it is definitely a much more awkward animation though
@@shazaz1059right? it feels like he’s just ignoring her on purpose lol
Personally I'm just glad Sonic isn't being shown to be a Complete Jerk to Amy
He can be Blunt and act mean when needed, but he doesn't have a true.
Asshole persona
Honestly it could have been changed to a sidestep tbh. Honestly I know they've aged the cast up a year since Sonic Frontiers, but people hate censorship. A lot of people correlate censorship with wokeness and a lot of people are offended by anything that is remotely woke.
I really prefer the OG versions most of the time. Like 80% of them were done better in the original game without the changes.
Thank you everyone shares the same sentiment
nah
The new dialog is fine but I very much prefer they just kept it the way it was because some of it can be a bit awkward
26:31 that voice clip where he says "Super Sonic Style!" would later be reused for his final smash in ultimate.
This time Sega didn't forget to pay Roger for more lines lol
2011 is crazy classic tails
Suprised Ian Flynn didnt rewrite all the characters dialogue before the final battle to be like "Live and Learn, Sonic." "Feel the rush, Sonic!" "Dreams of an absolution, Sonic!" "Youve got to advance!" "Get chaotic, Sonic!" "You're rougher than the rest of them!" "Fly high, Sonic!"
This is just sounds over exaggerated so I'm hoping this is a joke.
