Rudy and his brother Steve Salas founded the East LA band in 1972, with a mix of rock, pop, jazz, R&B, and salsa. The group is best known for their mega hit "Toget her, and hits Zoot Suit Boogie, Gonna Find Her Memories and others.” Sadly, Rudy Salas, co-founder of the iconic group TIERRA left us recently, but his spirit and musical legacy will live on forever! R.I.P. Mr. Rudy Salas. Such a beautiful voice called home to sing to our Lord...I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Salas...my cousin Johnny Viramontes would play his music and gave some of it like Together...now they are both with our Lord ....I miss my cousin so much. June 12th 2023 From the time i first heard Together ❤ in 1972 were the best memories,music dancing 💃wonderful times, Blessings to tha Salas family,and the brothers will remain in my heart ❤💙💜 and the music will live on and on, Thank you..
RIP Rudy. Together en Espanol is a Classic. Thank you for the memories Brother, you are an inspiration to all of us. EastLos (and the world) will be a better place with you looking from el Cielo.
Such a great lost to my favorite Chicano music group. My deepest condolences to his son David, his familia and his loyal band Tierra.

Bill Stone here. We worked at BLS together once upon a time. (Memories)
I remember when Dos Mundos first came out.
(I still have my copy).
I also remember how you and Rudy treated all of us at BLS like family. (It was nothing for mama Jo to wrangle her children in.). The world…and the people we all served, deserved better. She knew it. And, she demanded it from all of us!
But we were also rewarded. Not just easing, but love, kindness, and opportunity.
Regardless of what we wanted or needed/to an individual; you and Rudy and your children treated all of us like family.
PS: Because of you, I saw Tierra in ELA, @ The Hop and in Long Beach.
PSS: Thank you, sir! For not only letting me come to your show, but dancing, in front of you, with..(Your) Lady In The Moonlight!
I’ve been a fan of Tierra since 1970’s and following Tierra up to the date today - 2023 Tierra Legacy! They are the best! They do not disappoint! 🎼🎶🎵🎶
They sound great today ad they did years ago. I knew Mrs. Falomir ( Steves) on she wad so adorable! I loved her yard sales by Santa Inez and Bonnie Brea.
Saw then last at the Santa Fe swap meet before the Covid.
Great Band & Great musicians. I grew up in the Echo Park area & hung around & played music with my buddy Steve Falomier. This was during the time he was the bass player for The Gestures. This back in 1966,67 & 68. I also had another close buddy who was an excellent pianist & singer his name was Bobby Mcpherrin. Bobby & I attended the same High school . Tierra will never be forgotten.
I've me emilo a few times. A very humble man and enjoyable to speak with. 👍✊
