@colesimlondonuk Yes, I own a bunch of Rainbow Lorikeets. They're an Australian native bird, so there's a bunch of them around my house at any given time (unless I do tutorials late at night).
Although I love the freedom with placement in FL Studio, sometimes I wish automating was easier like what's shown here. Great tutorial, I'm planning to watch all of them in the coming days
As a relative beginner, I listened to my friend's advice about using loops, rather than trying to program drums in. I didn't like the idea though, because I thought it didn't sound right to jump between different sounding loops to create variation. I didn't understand slicing and rearranging loops. Thanks to your video, now I do. Cheers!
damn- i leanred how to use utility, an awesome way to use arpeggiator, and a lot more. thanks man. very easy to understand, i found u because of tom cosm!
The most BOSS Ableton user I have ever seen. PERIOD. Cheers Bill! PS are you only using a trackpad? Your workflow movements are as fast as you are thinking...
What the fuck mr. Bill, how did I just find you last night. And how the hell are you blowing my mind and inspiring me the same amounts. Thanks for posting all these tutorials! I'm really looking forward to listening and watching and learning!
I wonder which way Amon Tobin followed with his drum programming in 'Adventures in Foam' (Cujo) album. It was in 90's so it wasn't digital as now. (I believe he was using an 'Akai S6000' with a Mackie desk according to SOS interview) Still, I wonder the tip that helped him to make all those jazzy variations and snare sentences. Clearly there are lots of filter and delay tricks. I'll be glad if I can get tips about it and how to approach for rich drum variations.
Oh my god, such a simple thing, but I didn't know you can drag an audio clip to a MIDI track device area to create a Sampler with that trimmed section isolated! For my live shows I go through a really tedious process of chopping up the prominent parts of my songs into individual notes/phrases, and it's super annoying to spend all that time dicing up long samples in the Sampler's tiny window.
So THAT's why it's called glitch... because of the sample-slicing. I thought it was something really sketchy like bit-corrupting a synth plugin. XD Anyways, very cool tutorial.
+Maurice Amaraggi Myeah, that's kinda the thing with ol' Mr.Bill. I don't think he can help it ;P I just make sure I keep my cursor on the timeline (for rewind) lol
Hey Mr. Bill. I was wondering when you recorded all three tracks into one and you selected (IN), what difference does it make when you use IN to record into a seperate bus then just leaving it on AUTO?
You know your way around that DAW, bloody God mode! but you took a really nice snare and ruined it! Just a small point, your voice is very low in volume compared to the sounds, to hear you clearly I have to blow up my headphones when the music plays. Don't know if anyone else experienced this? but still a great demo of automation.
I appreciate the tutorials. It would help if your voice were louder in the mix, and your keyboard not so much. Keyboard is almost louder than your voice... thanks!
@Mr. Bill I appreciate that you're willing to share something with the rest of the world, but the soundlevels in this video are horrible; in order to hear what you were saying, I had to turn up the volume completely, which in turn was way too loud to hear what you were doing with the drums. And unfortunately, I don't have a compressor installed after the audio out from my television set. Too bad because it seemed like an interesting video.
You have some mad Ableton skills but your audio setup is garbage! Is it just me or is the audio terrible on these videos. I have my volume up full on my laptop and on youtube and I still can't hear a thing you're saying.
when making tutorials, sometimes it helps to have a parrot in the background
+Grayson Kilmer i read ur comment half way in the tutorial and now the parrot is annoying me....lol thnx
You Bastards
i thought it was outside my window this whole time lmao
and a super clacky keyboard.. but Im not frowny.. Mr Bill is the shit
it gives that special layers u wont get with other birds
@colesimlondonuk Yes, I own a bunch of Rainbow Lorikeets. They're an Australian native bird, so there's a bunch of them around my house at any given time (unless I do tutorials late at night).
Every time he makes it sound good, he changes to sound even better. Like I would have left it like that before!
I guess im the only one who noticed he said he was making a jazz beat ended up on glitch , still one of the BEST tutorial out there !!!
It's absolutely amazing how much I learned from this video. God-tier ableton producer.
I think hes above that, he is ABLETON lol
Cheers Bill, great tutorial! I like the way you explain things as you're doing them, makes it really easy to follow
Your enthusiasm is infectious
man i am glad i found your tuts . i have never seen sample work like this . surely what i have been missing
Although I love the freedom with placement in FL Studio, sometimes I wish automating was easier like what's shown here. Great tutorial, I'm planning to watch all of them in the coming days
7 years later and i couldn't agree more!
Big fan of your music, and just found out that you make tutorials. So cool!

@powerflump It is :)
But still love your videos man they are really helping me out :)

Anyways, very cool tutorial.
Well, corruptions in audio often yield repetition like results, so while not proper glitching the produced aesthetic is considered as such.
This is so fast. Difficult to follow for beginners but thank you it gives a glimpse of what can be achieved.

thanks for sharing.
TH-cam recommended me this video in 2020 lol

Very interesting
Nothings better then natural reverb from live drums

Hey thanks for you vid. Jast a question please. What did you do whit calculator about frequences? Thanks
Automation God xD
Amazing workflow..
Hey Mr. Bill. I was wondering when you recorded all three tracks into one and you selected (IN), what difference does it make when you use IN to record into a seperate bus then just leaving it on AUTO?
thanks this is sick (:
Did you brother take his band name from the Green Velvet track?
Nice just to watch this to get to know what you can do :) Thanks a lot!
what kind of trick was that with the kick eq?
Great inspiring vid. Is that a bird in the background?
BIIIIIL thanks my man
good - thx.
interesting tutorial but what breed of bird have you got chirping in the background ? or is that a canary sample ?
whats the keyboard shortcut for spliting the automation line like you do at 5:22
good look
"music with math", with your host, mr. bill.
@vetodnb Yep exactly.
YEAH!!!!!!!!
Great, i saw a lot of your things all great , i learned a lot , but i didnt see a tutorial for drums sound , isnt it?
So this is good drums for glitch bass music?
I heard you on Duncan Trussell's podcast recently and you seem way less depressed now :P
why exactly devide it by 2... is it because harmonics work by a factor of 2 ?
hahahahaha at the birds chirping XD
beat turned very garage very quick
holy shit
do you use pc or laptop? how many audio tracks can you use on ableton on a laptop without cpu issues
NirajC72 when ive seen him working has been on laptop
much appreciated DaDamuse
+NirajC72
but still it's gonna depend on your cpu, ram, and hdd. I'm sure his is pretty hot-rodded!
can someone possibly point me towards tutorials for using the mouse to chop samples and stuff?
th-cam.com/video/8FREeWJ1yxo/w-d-xo.html
I really want to know, 13:30 what is the short cut to do that converting?
Consolidate = ctrl + J on windows

+Quinn Ingrassia Mr. Bill is not human...
Michael Guerette the evidence is clear
+Quinn Ingrassia yeah the parrot is telling him
Aye

I love u mr bill... but those keyboard hits, mouse clicks and desk thumps are quite overwhelming!

🔥🤘🔥
how did he make 2 or more midi trakes to one ? 14:15
Consolidate probably
Make them as a group and record it
Nice tut, but when you copied your gate mod it went out of sync
I appreciate the tutorials. It would help if your voice were louder in the mix, and your keyboard not so much. Keyboard is almost louder than your voice...

My man, this was 7 years ago. Check a newer tute out on my channel, I've definitely addressed this :)
lol, my bad, thanks again for all the great content!
I think the bird is crying for your attention. Anyway thanks for the tutorial, gotta work on it.
Ngl cymbal sounds like a Xerox machine
