Really, thank you! Except for my checkering file, all my equipment is quite cheap! So if you are intrested in make knives, just start slow and build up tools over time, like I did! Again, thanks!
Dude I love metal work I'm a welder I can really appreciate this fine metal work! I would probably lose my mind trying to do something this fine and intricate but to see it done, I can really appreciate it and you are a magician!
Very nice. I’ve been reluctant to do a folder because I don’t have lots of good tools. You got great results with basic stuff, maybe I’ll give it a try
I CAN TELL YOU ARE A GOOD CRAFTSMAN AND YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING THE MOMENT THIS VIDEO STARTED, YOU WERE USING THE FILE IN THE CORRECT WAY, YOU PUSH THE FILE THEN LIFT IT UP TOTALLY OFF THE STEEL THEN REST IT DOWN AND PUSH IT AGAIN.A LOT OF PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE A FILE CORRECTLY,THEY JUST PUSH AND PULL WITHOUT LIFTING THE FILE OFF THE STEEL THEY ARE FILING..GOOD JOB.
Beautiful. This is why I always emphasize hand work, especially filing by hand. So much, such fine work can be achieved with files and abrasive paper alone, and the results can be extremely impressive and functional. This is a beautiful piece. Great work!
Outstanding work! I see you thanked every person who commented on your work. Most people don't ever do that. That alone speaks for your character, and integrity as a man! I immediately hit the like and subscribe button.
Thank you so much! I try to answer every one, my channel is not that big so its possible. And I like the knife community! Thank you for the like and the sub!
That is a pretty common bevel-jig setup. There are many youtube knife makers who got the ide first! hehe. Since I could not get a hold of any big angle irons, I used the steel corner profile instead. works just the same!
Increíble , perfectamente realizado, cuidando cada detalle excepcionalmente trabajado y los materiales muy bien 👌 elegidos , el endurecido y templado perfectos, una obra de arte, gracias por ver tu trabajo.
Hi! Thank you so much. I am working on a slip join now. I think the video will be out in about 10 days. I usually try to publish 1 video a month, but due to other commitments the past month, I could not find time to make a knife. I am sorry for the delay, and I hope you will find the next video worth a watch!
Oh my. Thank you for sharing. Not enough superlatives in my vocabulary to describe your work, your creation, and the camera work. One, if not the best video's I've come across... ever! Thanks again.
@@Inmyshed You're welcome for sure. Now I have time (retired) I've been trying to get up the gumption to try and make a knife for myself. Most certainly not a liner lock. So far I've only carved a handle and inset a stingray stinger (5") as a letter opener. Thanks for the motivation for some metalwork.
Free time is the best thing! If you make a video or have a picture of it, be sure to post it please! I will watch! No prob! Glad I could motivate some!
Thank you for showing everyone what a sharp file, patience and a highly skilled, attention to detail craftsman can produce. I'm absolutely a new fan and subscriber. Please keep doing it the old way as so many of us still do.
@@Inmyshed i watch so many videos with craft people using the latest and greatest machines and tools and finally i find a craftsman who does things like i do. Its refreshing to me because i fear we're losing some simple skills only learned with hand work and experience. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! I agree! 2 years ago, I did not own even a file. This is the most satisfying think I have ever done. It feels really good to make something and pick up new skills!
Like the mirror blade, but not the polished brass bolsters, especially as there are some irregularities in the surface as you can see as distortions in reflections.. The brass would look better with a matte Scotchbrite finish..
Hi! thanks for the comment! The bolsters are copper. I am quite happy with the result and and finish on them. Now they have this amazing patina I just love.
Absolutely beautiful piece of art!! If you could slim the handle down and take the blade to 3.75-4”, I’d purchase and make my edc…forever. Then I’d will it to my son! Simply the most beautiful knife I’ve ever seen! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“No function, just for aesthetics.” Hate to break it to you, man. But you Sir, are a Craftsman. Congrats! First video of yours I’m watching and now I’m Subbed.
It always gives me the creeps watching someone drilling steel without clamping it down first. I had a friend who lost partial use of his hand after the drill grabbed in a piece of steel he was drilling and it spun around. Beautiful knife though
I see your point! I hold it with pliers if I use a drill larger then 5mm or 3/16 after what you describe happent to me. Fortunate for me, I got off with a bad cut. Smaller drills just snap, in my experience. Thanks!
@@Inmyshed Yeah Sorry mate. Don't mean to criticize your working practices. My friend was using a 3/8" drill to drill a piece of steel to make a tool for a lathe so as you can imagine, it made a bit of a mess of him when it spun around a few times. Beautiful piece of work you have done though
I was going to say the same thing. I've spent 28 years as a safety professional in industrial construction, fabricating, machining, etc. I see hand placements here that I carried folks to hand specialists for...several times. It's all good til it aint.
That’s is beautiful! And great video! Very informative. It’s taught me a lot for making liner locks. Much appreciated.
Hi! Thank you. I am glad you got something useful out of it!
Not only supernatural patience and skill but also great camera work! Thanks
Thank you sir!
You would be the British government’s worst nightmare, making all these Ghost Knives, and locking folders too. You do great work, very inspiring.
Haha, well I am from Norway! I thought we had strict knife rules, but you guys win that one, hehe. Thank you so much!
