Hello and welcome once again everyone, The German destroyers have been given a buff to their high explosive rounds so it's time to revisit the line and see what help it has provided them. This was a nice game with the tier 6 German DD Ernst Gaede from my livestream recently and I hope to play more of the line there so feel free to come on over and if you have any questions I can answer them in real time. I'll be honest here, dealing with a good DD player is extremely annoying, but right now, you make me want to switch from being a cruiser captain to a DD captain XD
Coop-player only here. I play the Gaede with 155mm , I like it's AP punch, decent citadel chance on most cruisers. This is one of the mid tiers I'll hold on to. :)

Did not realize this was three years ago. Not much changes, spawn-camping teams, pain-in-the-backside carriers. . . Now, especially with subs, I am a big fan of the German destroyers and their hydro. I have T-61 so not much reason to play Gaede. Nice showcase, still relevant to today’s game. Backing into the CAP to minimize target profile and permit a quick-getaway in case, God forbid, your team fails to support the capping effort.
Man, I would be lighting them up on chat. The random player base just plain sucks and has been headed south for a couple years now. I've passed my 4th year last month and I understand people have to learn, but back in 16 and 17 we communicated and gave instructions on how a friendly can be more effective. Today, there are no comms. and lopsided games. You are literally holding off a flank by yourself.
I watched your video intensely. Imagine there were two CV's in the game, one being the new German CV. One CV took half your health, so Imagine two CV's to contend with, you probably would of been sunk much earlier. WC has not given DD's any more armor or AA, and some even have no smoke to hide in. I think this is a travesty on WG and the player of DD's. When I get sunk on the way to my target, often before I get where I'm going, at that point I quit the game and go to another. Do you think the German CV's are better than the Swedish, American dd (gun boat) or British. The Swedish Skane does not have smoke nor the tiers under it so there is no way to hide from CV's, however they often get you even when you are smoked up as will anything with radar. The only good side of a Swedish DD is the 7.0 detection vs 10.0 torps and 10.0 guns, however like the torps the guns are not very effective and if there are CV's around you'll get sunk fairly fast. I wrote WG about the balance of CV's vs DD's and the need for DD's to have better armor and AA, but I doubt they care as they wrote back each time and said they hold the right to balance the game as they see fit. However, that does not take away from the good game you had here and the enjoyable video... I wish you Smooth sailing. Perhaps if everyone writes to Support that sails a DD and complains, they will do something about the lack of armor and poor AA.
Never liked german dds, though i love their bbs. maybe its the poor guns and torpedoes or just too hybrid-ish for my taste. cant even use the hydro smoke combo till TX i think. also CVs hehe
ERNST GAEDE is not a great Destroyer. HYDRO is okay but the concealment of this German DDs and of the tier 7 LEBERECHT MAASS is not great. Especially if you did play the T22 the predessessor :-) After the T22 got the HYDRO and the HYDRO duration buff the T22 is a really nice ship. BUT I do like to play the German DD line due to the fact they are really versatile ships. they are the master of nothing but do well as an allrounder Destroyer line. There is one big thing I really do not like. The premium German Destroyer are much better than the tech tree ships. Your TH-cam video is showing why a DD has to stay alive. Without your DD the team has done NOTHING!!! I do NOT understand the Battleships in the OWN spawn point / behind it. I have had a discussion and the Battleship player told me he is doing everything right. He has got the range and he does every game a huge amount of damage. AND he is getting rewarded by xp and credits...... Losing games is due to the really bad gameplay by us, the destroyers NOT able to spot and getting caps. We, the Destroyer / sometimes cruiser die to fast ..... I stopped argumenting .... Is it WGs fault rewarding for damage and NOT rewarding for spotting damage like it is done in WOT, the game I left to play a game without this toxic teams ... MAybe some day we also get the spotting damage rewarded by WG like it is in WOT. Sorry for all these words. I always try to understand the player. They did not play in the early days and they do see all the games player are rewarded for staying far away from the caps and the enemy team. farming from distance ...... You played very well and you did all what has to be done. It is a TH-cam video which should be shown to the BB player. You have got nearly 1k more base xp than the second one. I have 60% career WR in that beastly DD. Yeah...those are citadels against a cruiser and CV. If you use your tools correctly the Gaede is broken.
