For such an accomplished foiler, Dave, your message is very relatable. Thanks for sharing your journey and your important insight on all things foiling.
Great video! The boards looks great. Complete understood your advise for beginners whici is my case. One question: if you want learn DW using Foild Drive as assist would the 7'4 be good in your opinion or should stick to long ones? Thanks
Hey Daniel - I don't think you need a board that big to learn to FD DW on personally. But lots of people do - it's just not the way I'd tell people to do it. I'd be more inclined to learn on like a 5'4 Kruzer and learn to prone DW then get a full size SUP once you've started reading the bumps well on the FD and coming in without having to use the motor much.
Very cool! Looks like a great board and stoked to see you promoting sup surf foiling, one other big advantage for a board like this is being able to catch bigger waves and long waves with long rides and long paddles, some spots just aren’t feasible on the prone
Thanks for all of that detail. Great looking board. Getting all of that info makes it really easy to make a decision on what to buy. I am assuming you are on the payroll and if you’re not then you should be as you sold me!!! Great footage at the end.
Hey dave im 6'0 82kg 26yrs very fit and been surfing for 10+ years. Im keen to really give sup foiling a crack and want to sup surf and then get into DW once iv gotten used to it. Would you recommend the 7'8 or the 8'6? Im used to riding a Sup on open ocean but not for Downwinding. Love the videos!
What would you choose between Cypher 7'4 and Cypher DW 8,6 for start paddling (already winging and some surfoiling) , but not (at the beginning at least) for downwinding, for some little waves? I mean, I understand the Sup version is more agile and reactive, but the DW version easier to paddle/get on foil and (maybe) more stable because length? Thanks for the video!
I’ve heard people (Downwinddrifter) say that you don’t need an over 8ft board if you are not planning to DW and/ or learn to DW in the ocean. Any thoughts on how bay/lake DW learners should adjust their board size if at all?
@@petercook7798 there is definitely some truth to that. I’ve spoken about that lots before. Places like hood river definitely don’t need that length. It does however make learning harder still. Even if I was living in a lake area I’d still go the 8 ft - 8”4 if you’re over 85kg.
21 inches wide for surf SUPfoiling ? Call me clumsy but i think that is way too narrow... For real life bumpy lineups i would advise anybody not expert to go 26in wide for a 6 to 7 long SUP. It sucks to be falling all the time, not able to put power in the wavecatching stroke as you are so unstable etc... Please test some different board dims if you can before you buy.SUP can go from super easy and fun to total frustration with just a couple knots crosswind.
Dude. Sultan, Sultan prone, Sultan wing, Bullet, Kruzer, Cypher, Cypher downwind. They’ve got a 9 week turnaround and you’re promoting a new board every month 😵💫
Very cool vid and specs for a sup surf foil board.

Congrats on the signature model Dave. Awesome stuff.
Thanks for going into the details
Thanks for sharing your experience. Now I can blame my 7’7” for my dodgy DW game. Time to get another Amos!
@@simonranson3912 come borrow mine :)
Very nice. Best foiler on TH-cam. 🎉
Haha get stuffed. 😂 you’re on TH-cam. So that can’t be true.

Loved it ! 😍
I’d like to see you take it further in width, maybe 28”+.

Nice work Dave 👊 Outstanding as always 👌 Are Amos boards going to be available in NZ at some stage?
@@finbox1000 only direct I think. So yes you can get one but not in shops.
You said the rocker is fairly flat. So what degree of foil rake is your mast track box installed at?
@@windcsky1 deck and track is flat to the boxes. No rake

@@juanjogonzalez8084 you’re previous foiling ability won’t make much difference learning to DW. 8”6 no doubt in my mind.

@@juanjogonzalez8084 Yeah it's been designed for people who have never SUP'd and wanna DW.
