Congratulations. A very admirable level of determination. Learning as an adult is such a strange experience… the weight of failures feel heavier. The loss of time seems longer. The lack of interest from other people seems colder. You are on your own when you are an adult learning a skill-or particularly an odd skill. But, the triumph is sweeter. Your memory is sharper of the journey. Your body is stronger and more capable of the final skill. The distance between you and your peers is greater for it. The satisfaction of achievement runs deep and inspires another conquest. Again, congrats. It keeps me inspired for my little niche things.
Willpower, purpose, hard training. Congratulations. I'm 62 years old on my 8th session on dock start foil with 70 attempts per day. You gave me strength when despair is so close.
@@gaeldaniele the power of feeling observed. Or performing for someone else. I tend to get less distracted while working if I'm at a coworking place than in my house by myself, so I can relate 🙈
Every time i saw this board being used in the videos i thought it was an electric motor somewhere in the bottom part of it. But it is nothing but an Awesome physics and skill.HUGE Respect to the original creators of this board and to everyone grinding to master the skill!!!
December 17 is a great date for success with a 'foil! 121 years prior to your successful circuit on your hydrofoil, the Wright Brothers had the world's first successful powered flight with airfoils! Congratulations, dude! Your dedication and perseverance are exemplary! 👍😃
I thought about getting into pump foiling because all the other videos made it look easy. Lol. I'm glad this guy showed how the learning curve is years .
Hello Gaël! ..well, i didnt expect to spend 26 minutes indulging myself in your video this morning - but hey - your perseverance in pursuit of a desired goal is utterly compelling and you should be congratulated for exhibiting a determination not often captured for others to observe....if i only i could tie down my 13 and 17 year old sons and make them watch, to prove my oft-repeated assertion that no-one is born with any particular sporting skill...all athletes must put in the time, doing rep after rep after rep.... with attitude and grit like yours, you will go far in life and i wish you well from Sydney, Australia!
Soooo hard! You learned it the hardest way. I learned to pump by winging and being pulled at a wakepark. And then I managed to dock start in 2 sessions. Congratulation for this accomplishment, this is insane to learn to foil by dock starting.
This was a great summary of your journey. I love the sequence where you throw the board in frustration, and then raise your arms in triumph after your first pump back to the dock. Kissing the 1310 foil is classic. Inspirational, Gael.
Outstanding, resilience, dedication, resolve, fortitude, ingenuity, and most importantly determination! Always remember… what one man can do, another man can also do, determination is everything in life. What an amazing video for all young people to see, and claw their way to their potential. Well done my friend. ❤
That's an example of true passion. Amazing and pure inspiration. You can make a video about the right mentality to achieve goals. I mean not about the foiling techniques, but you have amazing results in body transformation (weight gain) and hydro foiling. So you know how to deal with struggles and keep pushing even if you are sick, tired or it is raining outside. So you will help many people all around the world if you make a video about how to keep pushing forward and believe in yourself in the world to achieve goals (different goals, someone wants to be a perfect painter, another wants to become a great programmer, etc.) how to keep pushing forward even when you think that you are stuck, that you are not making progress if you start losing hope and believe in yourself. I think you are the right person to teach people your mindset. Huge respect. You remind me of Jacques Cousteau. He has the same passion. Thank you for posting your video.
This is a life lesson for anyone....I may show to my students to demonstrate how the combination of perseverance, problem solving and facing obstacles in life can serve you well. Well done!
Absolutely fantastic. It may take 5 years to learn how to use this thing but you did it. Only a handful of people around the world will know you feeling.
I'm currently learning how to inline skate at age 44 and I notice a similar progress characteristic to this. You think that it's just a matter of repetition so that you can train your brain on techniques and balance but what's unique to these types of activities is that there is also a physical component which is required to be able to perform the activity. Unlike, say, learning to ride a bike, where you basically just have to learn how to balance and steer, inline skating and this, apparently, requires a lot more patience while your body develops the necessary physiology to progress. That's why it takes so freaking long. Well done, kid. 👍🏻
As someone who has spent a life time teaching themselves dozens of skills - it is the greatest skill there is. Self learning, persistence, dedication, hard work and belief. We all really can do anything.
Your dedication and determination are next level!! A master class in learning! The video is very relaxing to watch. Great audio choices. I'm going to have to find these some of these cool locations when I'm in Europe this year!
The Passion is strong with this one! Also I find it crazy how much skill, training and creativity is needed just to be able to start this thing from different starting conditions.
I dont really comment videos but gotta say, you are a legend. That part of the video where you managed to do a full loop back to the staircase and shouted in joy, man i can feel it just as when i did my first pumps. I moved to Australia to work for a year only (yes i once surfed beside Mr Bennet), for 5 months i tried to foil and boy oh boy, what a long learning curve but every time frustration was about to beat me, dedication gave me improvement. My dream is to foil decently, and is now one of my goals in life so, THANKS so much for this. I hope we can share the same dock one day, cheers!
Wow. The glide on the bigger wing really shows. I can see now that the wing and total all up stiffness makes for much better power transmission. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I bet you’re glad you dumped Uni for a life on open water!
Gael, I have been watching your journey since the ladder start. It inspired me to try the ladder start. I was very unsuccessful and even got sliced under my chin. lol I am stoked for your success in and out of the water. While I am somewhat proficient at surf foiling, I am still learning to pump and have just recently been able to pump back out to the lineup in the surf and catch multiple waves. You are an inspiration. 🤙🤙🤙
Great determination. You are very skilled and persistent. You’ve become my role model! All the best, take care of yourself! If you come to Benicàssim Spain, it’s a good place to practice!😊
Really good job 👍🏻 I have started foil pumping in August 24 after I had a training in Brandenburg. I bought my own board and train as much as I can. Your advice to lower expectations is the right setup not to give up. Hang loose 🤙🏻
Very cool video, very inspiring motivation... I don't even do foil but this is a cool journey to follow showing, what passion and dedication can do. Thanks also for not being one of those annoying wanna be flashy youtubers talking all the time and commenting everything they do... Here it was almost meditative 👍
Congrats for your commitment guy! Really inspiring and helpful. It was nice meeting you this week end at the ketos gear test, although I did not dockstart properly when I wanted you to coach me 😅
@@gaeldaniele today i was able to pump for 110 meters, new personal record with my Takuma Helium 1500 😅 I watched your analysis of Gwen, it really helped. I think I now pump the right way with my feet, next step: controlling my arms to work on the swing

O my word... i would pass out righ there :S. I've noticed something please correct me if i'm wrong. You started improving really well once you incorporated the swinging of the arms. and it seems that you do better in salt water than fresh water. is it because salt water is denser than fresh water ?

really appreciate it. keep pushing

Nice, I'm 34 and I think I could do this first try, withmuch boarding background(snow, wake, street)
also about $50,000 worth of materials...
Wow bro, you are super dedicated. Half of those setbacks and I woulda found a new hobby. You must really love this one!

I really enjoyed your journey. Almost felt the same emotions 99% struggle and 1% of PURE JOY that makes it all worth. Thank you Gael
Pumpfoiling seems like the most difficult foiling niche to master... your willpower is admirable and payed off, very impressive, nice work!
I thought about getting into pump foiling because all the other videos made it look easy. Lol. I'm glad this guy showed how the learning curve is years .
thanks man! it is indeed probably one of the most difficult niche to master, but surf foiling and downwinding is not easy gig...
it doesn't have to be this hard aghah but it's not easy
No idea why this video was recommended to me by the algorithm, but I'm glad it was. What an awesome sport 😊 !! Merry Xmas from New Zealand 🎄🎄🎄

efoil helps but not massively as it's completely another mass and it's impossible to pump. FOIL DRIVE would have really helped
