A very timely video for me today Dave. I just repotted my BRT yesterday. I bought mine from Lou's Bonsai on etsy for $90. Mine is 15 years old and it came with some hitch hikers I was not too happy about, Millipedes!!! YUCK! I live in NC and this tree will have to come inside for winter, but not with those things, so it got a repot into some nice quality bonsai soil. I am hoping it does not die on me. This is the most I have spent on a bonsai tree too, and it's one I wanted so it is very special to me as well. I look forward to us raising our BRT "together", LOL. You chose a gorgeous pot for your tree! I love the blue and red. Your tree has some beautiful form! I did not trim any branches or roots on mine because I didn't know if the repot will kill this tree or not, so I left the trauma to a minimum. I look forward to updates on this tree!!
It’s a beauty. I went to a new Koi and Bonsai store today and saw a BRT similar to yours for $385. Didn’t buy it, but I did pick up a new Jin pliers. Now I have 2 which will make unwiring SO much easier.
@@scharfaced yeah, a little. I just bought 8 trees from a guy who’s been in bonsai for over 30 years and has been sort of the only local source of bobsai material. When I first looked him up his prices were high so I held off. I repotted all 8 tropical trees after purchase, the roots were terrible. So disappointing when it’s such a big sort of what we do.
BRT, Bonsai Road Trip to get a BRT!!
😆😂
Repotting. Super cool! Looks great!
Nice find with the BRT, good sir. Great job giving it the Dave treatment.
That is Mr. Elephant from the Children's Corner. I am glad you liked Mr. Elephant.
A lot of nice soil from this tree. Good to save for another planting of some seedlings.
Impressive. Very impressive. Cuttings.
Was great to meet you at Bonsai West. Loved the look of the BRT. Can't wait to see where it goes!
Jesse
@@kamikidEFFL thanks Jesse!
With your skill, you deserve an expensive tree. I am glad you bought this nice specimen. An early Christmas gift for you.
Beautiful tree Dave. I picked up some beautiful rocks in Stillwater on my way home from the bonsai meeting today.

@@Steves_Backyard_Bonsai it is nice to have good tools!!!
I almost believed you when you said put the scissors down Dave.
@@bryanmorrion9503 😂🤣😜
Great tree. Where did you get the shears that you are using?
@@haroldhughes9129 I get my sheets from stone lantern.
Prosim, jaky je botanicky nazev toho BRT? Destovy strom nedokazu zaradit
I like your chopsticks. But they are to nice for me to use. I have them set aside so I do not ruin them.
Must be frustrating buying something from a renown bonsai shop just to discover a root system like that...
