I loved these versatile uses of basil. I’m growing tons of it in my garden this year. This video is so helpful! And I can hear everything very clearly.
We grow basil on our windowsill year round. And we plan to start parsley there as well. Our kitchen window faces south. In the winter it is very, very bright. And we pronounce it bay-syl. And Italians call many, many different recipes pesto. The word pesto is from the action of crushing something in a mortar with a pestle (pestle=pesto). So anything made that way is a pesto. So yes, you can call it pesto.
So interesting, thank you. Not sure when I'll have olive oil again, the increase in the prices of the oil here in Portugal is shocking at the moment. Great video, well done! ❤
It is true! The prices are going through the roof! We have oil from the farm, but the lagar (mill) we use also sells oil. Usually for a much more reasonable price then the supermarket. I think it was 5euro/liter last year. Am curious to see what they are charging this year.

@@juliaconway5866 We agree the music could have been lower. Unfortunately we can not turn it off after posting :) we learned our lesson and are more cautious now. So sorry you could not enjoy the video...
Try getting an Equalizer app or software of some sort. Use that to turn down the volume of frequencies that aren't involved in human speech. Usually the software/app will allow you to make a custom profile, so you can save the configuration that makes it easiest to understand people talking. Turn it on when you are listening to people speaking on youtube. I hope that will help your speakers/headphones best render her speech, by removing frequencies that can be distorted at higher volumes, especially when compressed at low quality over the internet... so, it is better also to turn the video on 1080 HD setting on TH-cam. The audio won't be so distorted.

Have only just discovered your channel today and I am already very impressed by the information shared with your viewers both in the sense of the actual content of the video as well as your manner of presentation. By the way, would it be possible to preserve basil leaves by freezing them in water? Which, obviously will solidify into ice, once in the freezer, with the fresh leaves of basil trapped inside the ice.
It is possible, but I actually found that the freezing method works best in a thin layer of oil (after I shot this video) I tend to try to freeze using oil now mostly. Is it for a drink or to use the leafs after?
Just came across your channel, and learned so much about storing my basil. Thank you, I’ll be trying several of these I never knew before. @dorothyczygmunt5232 Thank you!!! Have not looked into them yet. Do you use them? As for the basil, I take of the hard stems, I do not pick the leaves of 1 by one..
