    I don't know why it took so many years for jeep to understand that v8 is a must on all their jeeps. Finaly they're putting the v8 392 on them from factory

    What you did with the drive shaft

    • @mrslam49
      @mrslam49  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Joel Navarro, the transfer case had a slip yoke eliminator, so we used a cv shaft or double cardan I think they call them, if you are familiar with that. Basically we grabbed a fron drive shaft out of a jeep cherokee, then cut it down to length and installed it as the rear drive shaft in the yj. The front driveshaft for the yj had to be lengthened because it was to short.

    Sorry to keep bugging you I have the th400 2wd short shaft do you think I can get away with cutting it down to length.

      @mrslam49  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jorge Ramirez yes as long as it’s splined that far back. You want to leave yourself with enough spline for strength.

    I'm trying to do the same swap anyway I can get the part numbers or info on the transmission to transfer case adapter and input gear.

    • @mrslam49
      @mrslam49  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jorge Ramirez, there are a couple of different companies that make the adapter I believe, but here is one from advance adapter. If you look around I think you can get it quite a bit cheaper than this. www.advanceadapters.com/products/as-6401--atlas-th400-adapter/

      Jorge Ramirez, On the input shaft, you need to get an input shaft for a np241 transfercase. The Chevy np241 used the 32 spline input, but it will fit right into a Jeep np231 transfercase. There are 2 different ones and you need to make sure what year model your transfercase is. They had an early design and a late design, the difference is the sun gear that is pressed into the case, they changed the pitch on the teeth of that thing and the planetary sometime around 1994-1995ish. So what I’m saying here is if you have the early case then you get the early style input to match like this www.ebay.com/itm/GM-Chevy-GMC-NP241-transfer-case-32-spline-input-shaft-only-WIDE-BEARING-DESIGN/262494239320?epid=1674689465&hash=item3d1de03a58:g:7WQAAOSw2s1UwtCD , if you have the later case, then you’d get this

      Jorge Ramirez, another way to tell which case you have is by the width of the input bearing.

    What output shaft did you get for the turbo 400.

    • @mrslam49
      @mrslam49  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was the super short one. In the video I showed it in the th400 rebuild manual. They list all of the output shafts, and I talked about it briefly.

    Is the transmission work with that or you replace that too ?

      @mrslam49  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure what you're asking. The transmission is out of a chevy.

    You got links to all the parts needed?

    • @mrslam49
      @mrslam49  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      NJ_4LIFE23 the parts needed varies greatly. It just depends on what exact combination of parts you are trying to use and put together, And into what vehicle. I feel like I explained why I used some of the parts that I used in the video, and should be easy enough to Google yourself and come up with a place to buy them. If you need help with something in particular, let me know, and I can Google it for you. I only ordered a couple parts. The rest I scrounge from salvage yards, junk piles, auto parts stores, hardware stores, etc. You just kind of have to wing it on projects like this. It's not like going grocery shopping.

    Where did you get the motor mounts from

    • @mrslam49
      @mrslam49  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Alexander, I believe I used "advance adaptor" motor mounts. I have used those in the past and I like how they thru bolt, so even if the mount goes bad the engine still won't go anywhere. Also it's unlikely the engine mounts will go bad they are very solid, even the little rubber pieces are stout as heck.

    Was that a 2wd trans ?

    • @mrslam49
      @mrslam49  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the only thing that is different is the ouput shaft. So you have to tear down the transmission completely, and change the output shaft, then put it back together. It's really not that difficult! If you are capable of putting the engine and transmission into the jeep, then you're capable of putting a tail shaft In a th400! ;-)
