i just installed a 525hp small block in my 1997 yj, with a turbo 400. and i got the transfer case out of a late model chevy siverado at the junk yard, works just fine the dana rear end and front end works fine after a gear change, this is the 4th jeep i have done, seems everytime i build one every one wants to buy it. this one im keeping, easy swap, reason for the swap was i bought it for 2500 with a blown 6cyl, body and interior is mint as is the hard top a/c works fine now, wiring is a no brainer, but i have been building street rods and jeeps for a few years, at least 20 i never go efi i always go carbed, lot less trouble, i also look for spare hoods, incase i decide to put a 871 blower in it, i also do not go offroad, it is a toy, right now it is in my heated garage getting ready to be painted a custom color, still havent decided what color to paint it, it is in epoxy primer waiting for a color choice,, lil suckers are fun i will tell you the engine and transmission was way more than what the jeep will ever be worth, way more, blueprint enginesi have used for over 20 years never a problem
Tilting your engine back is correct, but if you will lay a level on your carburetor, and level it front to back, then put a level on your valve covers. You should have a tilt to the rear. Every engine swap I’ve ever done, that’s the way I’ve done it. Do you want
correct, I did have it leaned back so that the oil pump pickup won't risk starving on braking, with the trans spacer in it, it's still tilted back but before it was too much tilt.
no interference, stock steering linkage clears with no issues, used a universal steering shaft to hook up the column to the factory manual steering gear.

Can’t wait to see the steering interference
