I'm in love with my Neotec 3, especially with the built-in Sean SLR3. I've owned many high end helmets, but the Neotec 3 stands out as the most comfortable and quiet at high speed. From riding long distance in very hot weather 38C to chilly 2C, this helmet provides the best experience. Highly recommend it!
Saw the garage, flags and the shirt, subbed! Lol VP 19, AE2, Moffett Field, California, long ago. Thinking of going modular, only ever owned Shoei. Reason being, I might want to drink some coffee on the road! I served for 6 years...mostly in California (Long Beach and San Diego). If I knew then, what I know now, I would have done what it takes to stay in longer. I like modulars for a similar reason...I can sip on water while I'm riding. Also allows me to flip it open when it's hot.

it you click the switch on the inside to up it gives a small gap clearance for the sunvisor so it wont hit your nose hope this helps. the switch is located inside the helmet on the side cheek pads there 1 on each side.

it's like they took the neotec 2 and rf1400 and had a baby. The rf1400 has the same vent styles and same visor flip. I wish my neotec 2 had a center visor tab, but I've gotten pretty efficient with reaching across with my right hand. My wife has the rf1400.
Good review. You actually addressed the real-world differences instead of going into granular detail on things that really don't matter. I see a lot of other reviewers falling into that trap. I think you convinced me to get the 2 considering it is marked down $200 now.
A little late to the party, but I just discovered you! I have the Neotech 2 and it was one of THE best helmets I have owned and the One that I put the most miles on. It really was a great helmet! I really look forward to trying out the 3, based on your review. I'm very grateful that you put the time and effort into examining the helmet and relating your experiences between the 2. This was a very well done comparison
Two modular helmets on my shelf - Shoei Neotec 2 and Schuberth E1 - I usually reach for the Shoei because the Schuberth hangs heavy on my brow and fit n finish seems a little better with the Shoei.
I have the original Neotec and plan to upgrade soon. I will definitely be ordering a 2x. My current is a xl per my measurements but it always felt a little too tight, even when I changed to the smaller cheek pads. Thanks for the review.
The bump on the back of the helmet is a "spoiler" to help draw air away from the spherical shape of the helmet. It's supposed to be more aerodynamic, reduce noise & head buffeting in wind. Sportsbike helmets have even larger more aggressive spoilers than that.
Nice job as always...but I'm confused. That is a modular helmet, right? I assume so by the red button in the front. I don't think I've ever seen a modular helmet video that the "modular" part was never shown.
Technically I showed them open at the beginning of the video but you are correct! I noticed during editing that I didn't demonstrate the "modular" part. I added a clip to the beginning showing the Modular's in the open position. I contemplated scraping the whole video and reshooting it....
@@Kenn1969 I only open it at slow speeds or if I need a sip of water at higher speeds. At higher speeds there is too much turbulence to ride with it open. If I'm riding around town, I'll have it open. Regarding noise, I don't have a good point of reference. I can only compare it to my half helmets. It's obviously quieter than a half shell. I was listening to a podcast on my long trip and I could hear it very well. I also played music through my sound system. I could hear it well if the visor was open
I love the Neotec 3, I jumped the gun and bought mine from in November before it was available in the US. It was much cheaper overseas even with paying $35 for shipping. Also the SENA SRL works great for me and it doesn't have the bulky unit hanging off of the side.
Hi Cue, I have the same 23 CVO as you and the 10 inch HD windshield. You and I are about the same height and size. I have a non-modular Full-face RF-1400 Shoei helmet. I ride 95% of the time with the clear visor all the way up, but do wear goggle sunglasses, as I like the wind hitting my face. Especially, in the 100 plus California heat (don't forget to do video on new CVO operating temps LOL). When I road my old Fatboy I didn't have much helmet wiggle, I assuming as most of my body took the blunt of the wind evenly. However, now on my new 23 Road Glide CVO my helmet/head wiggles due to wind turbulence, not that much, but enough to give a person blurry vision due to the helmet wiggling. SO, my big question is, with the new Shoei Neotec 3, do you get much head wiggle as you said you ride with the visor up? Additionally, when you ride with the modular fully lifted up does the wind cause your head to wiggle more than just the visor up? Seems like if the modular was fully up it would be jerking a persons head around like a sailboat sail. And last question for now, if you may know, does the modular helmet wiggle more than a non-modular full-face helmet. Thanks again for all your videos, keep them rolling!!
@@RedDevilinCali thank you for the feedback! The 10" windscreen throws the air over my helmet when the visor is up. When the chin part up, you get movement. I only ride like that at lower speeds. I only close my visor if I am being hit my debris or if it's cold/raining. Otherwise it is open at all times.
Nice review. I also have the NEOTEC 3 and fing it to be a very nice helmet. Among all of the other changes/improvements, the NEOTEC 3 is a bit larger overall than the NEOTEC 2 and that is because the NEOTEC 3 meets the 22-06 safety standard.
The 2 and 3 seem to be similar for noise. I can clearly hear my music/podcast when using Bluetooth. I can also hear the speakers on the bike without the wind noise. I'm pretty happy with it
I wear half helmets around town... whenever I travel, I wear a full face with my half helmet in the tour pack. New helmets are always fun! What do you do with the old ones??? I have a garage full and have no idea what to do with them, it seems difficult to just toss them in the bin LOL.
Neotec 3 improvements, safety, center visor lift, slightly quieter, vent doesn't blast air directly onto your face. Negatives, slightly heavier on a already heavy helmet, people complain about it fogging up inside easier. It's a closer fit around the jaw which I don't like. For me worst of all it's a slightly tighter fit to the Neotec 2 causing me slight pressure points. I tried the thinnest liner but it was too loose then. So be warned, try before you buy and be on the lookout for pressure points.
Mine fits quite well. I ordered the 2x (which is what the size chart recommends). I haven't experienced any pressure points. I think it's definitely worth the time to try one on if you can.
I think it's about the same. I thought the 2 was pretty good. What makes this helmet better than the 2 is comfort. It's much more comfortable. That could be due to the fact it's new, but the padding feels really good

The Neotec (and all Shoei’s in the USA) are designed with an intermediate oval head shape. Shoei uses pretty extensive engineering in their inner padding design to be able to fit a wider range of heads however 😊
