Kevin Last Name Buffalo probably would have beaten Carolina if it wasn't for the some key injuries that came up suddenly in that series especially to the blueline. And even with the injuries, it still went 7.
к є ν ι η I'm a die-hard Pens fan but from Buffalo, and that's definitely true. Jay McKee w his Staph infection was the worst. this is one of the worst injustices in sports history, along with the 09 Vikings and bountygate
Too bad he’s gonna die without a cup. Sam Rosen got one back in ‘94 against John Shorthouse. I do want Joe Bowen to win, but my money’s on Steve Goldstein.
If our defensemen had stayed healthy vs Carolina there would be a 2006 Stanley Cup Champions banner hanging at First Niagara Center. I know that injuries are a part of the game but damn that one still hurts.
hockeysaint07 no way was that on Darcy. he ALWAYS had his hands tied by that fucker Larry Quinn and that piece of crap Tom Golisano. if they let him spend Buffalo would've kept Drury and Briere and won a Cup. all the pieces were there, Miller was out of this world
Rick sold this as it was Game 7 of the Conference Finals to advance to the Stanley Cup Final. But it was a pretty quick series that ended in Game 5. it made the moment more significant than it had any right to be. What a legend!
This has got to be one of the 2 best moments in Sabres history as long as Ive been a fan. 22 years and this was the best birthday gift I will ever get. Pegula you bring one home for us!
I'll never forget this game. I got to catch it live. I was living in SC and had, a few months before this game took place, met a girl at college. By the time this game came around she was my gf, and had graduated college. By invitation of her and her family I went up with them to Michigan the day after graduation. Her dad was using their main TV to watch a Pistons playoff game, so they let me use a TV in their basement to watch this game. I completely and totally lost my shit when Pommers made the play. You could just tell it was gonna be a goal as soon as he started skating. My gf ran down into the basement to check on me and had this look of comically grave concern on her face. It was amazing.
This is definitely my favorite call of all time. I'll give the "May Day" and "Top Shelf" calls their dues... But we have to remember, "... These guys are good, scary good."
And Alfreddson picks Pominville to be on his 2012 All-Star team citing that he embarrassed him in the playoffs. That was pretty classy stuff from Alfie.
Hell fucking yeah. I love this video. I love Rick, the Sabres, and Buffalo. Who cares we didn't win the cup that year, this goal is the best and I'll never forget it as long as I live. LET'S GO BUFFALO. That's God Damn Right.
still get goosebumps watching this. Can remember where I was, in my bro's room just going nuts calling and texting all my friends who were also going nuts.
LOL I will always remember where I was when this happened... Back in Buffalo for the weekend with my best friend from Atlanta At Pockets on herdle ave. And it was awesome considering i was trying to explain how the area is with the Sabres.
Just saw the re-air of this game in honor of RJ, and Alfredson's effort on this play was honeslty shocking lol. Really just half-ass waved his stick in such a crucial situation in a season ending game. Can't see it too well in the inital angle, but all the other replays show an abysmal effort by Alfie. To a point where the color commentator even mentions how he barely waved his stick at Pominville. Not to mention Alfredson was the one who drew the penalty initially! And he really sold it too, Mckee sort of grabbed him around the mid-section, and Alfredson went swimming 😂😂. Defintely embellished. I know Alfredson is supposed to be one of the classiest to play the game, but this was a blight on his career for sure
so freaking true, 2 d men straight up from the off season to play in game 7.... such great memories from that year, i was lucky to be at the ecf game 6
Buffalo had some great teams Love the jerseys and top 5 NHL town Montreal Detroit Buffalo Chicago Toronto Then Boston New york All cold and colder weather cities
Not bad for a call-up from the Amerks! And look at him now: captain for the last two months of the season, a Lady Byng finalist, 80 point season and fourth in points since the All-Star break (behind only Ovechkin, Malkin and Derek Roy). Everyone said that 2006-07 was due to being on Briere's line. This year proved them wrong. Lock him up!
As sad as it is to see him leave maybe now he will actually have a chance at to hold cup! Gives me someone to root for in the playoffs this year anyway.
one year earlier emery spezza phillips neil volchenkov and more were getting upset in the AHL playoffs by Wilkes-Barre who finished 14 points behind them in the regular season and never beat them once in the regular season but beat them in 6 including a triple overtime game 3 to cut the series to 2-1. i remember game 6 and the mohegan sun arena was rocking.
This goal call is a goddamn legend
That was our year.. the cup should have been in Buffalo
lel

The 'canes have NOTHING to be proud, an injury-riddled Sabres and the Oilers *without Dwayne Roloson* who basically got them there
Our year will come, 2025. Mark it on the calendar
RIP Legend RJ
Don't forget Ray Emery, Bryan Murray, John Muckler and Eugene Melnyk.
We will, miss you RJ.
Welcome back. One of my favorite calls ever by RJ.
Too bad he’s gonna die without a cup. Sam Rosen got one back in ‘94 against John Shorthouse. I do want Joe Bowen to win, but my money’s on Steve Goldstein.

Michael Schettig Our defensemen was named Jay McKee
Only time I’ve ever cried over a team (born after the 4 straight)
RIP RJ ❤
And BM, JM & RE.
rest in peace rick jeanneret, one of the greatest to call the game.
And to four members of the Sens that year.
One of North America's Greatest Sports Treasures Rick Jeanneret
"[Buffalo] will go to either Carolina or New Jersey"
We won't be hearing that for a while
Could happen this year
Lol jersey is hot trash as of rn. Carolina has a chance tho
we all wished for new jersey
We will in a few years, and we will hear more than just this. Cup champions 2024.
Generic TH-cam Viewer one can hope, right?
Rip legend Rick Jeanneret
Every year in the playoffs I find myself youtubing sabres 05-07 playoff highlights. So many memories. Thanks for fucking it up Darcy(:
hockeysaint07 no way was that on Darcy. he ALWAYS had his hands tied by that fucker Larry Quinn and that piece of crap Tom Golisano. if they let him spend Buffalo would've kept Drury and Briere and won a Cup. all the pieces were there, Miller was out of this world
countof3everybodyOD Gotta agree here. Galisano was the devil of Buffalo
Not Darcy’s fault. Blame the Pegula’s
@@tonywarner4056 the pegulas didn’t own the team then.
@@tradingstuff2120 galisano fucked the sabres up not darcy
I still get goosebumps watching this, I watched it live and had a feeling as Jason tore down the left side that he would score. My favorite goal ever.
Rick sold this as it was Game 7 of the Conference Finals to advance to the Stanley Cup Final. But it was a pretty quick series that ended in Game 5. it made the moment more significant than it had any right to be. What a legend!
This Ottawa team was a wagon, so defeating them in 5 was definitely worth the excitement
Still get goosebumps
Buffalo's greatest sports moment
Rick Jeanneret - one of the greatest announcers of all time; right up there with Ernie Harwell and Vin Scully.
He died
This has got to be one of the 2 best moments in Sabres history as long as Ive been a fan. 22 years and this was the best birthday gift I will ever get. Pegula you bring one home for us!
what a sad time in 2006... the end of a dream.... right after that game i still waved my sens flag proudly...
I will remember this goal forever i was so happy i almost had a heart attack lol
This call is just amazing.

he's back baby!
This is definitely my favorite call of all time. I'll give the "May Day" and "Top Shelf" calls their dues... But we have to remember, "... These guys are good, scary good."
Best season, best series. It was a good time to be a Sabres fan :)
Legit chills 😱
I still get chills watching this.
And Alfreddson picks Pominville to be on his 2012 All-Star team citing that he embarrassed him in the playoffs. That was pretty classy stuff from Alfie.

i went nuts in a bar in austin, texas when pominville scored this goal..... great goal.....
I WAS AT MY BROS STAG AND THE STRIPPERS WERE DANCIN WE STOPPED WATCHING THEM JUST IN TIME TO SEE THIS LOL GREAT TIMES
Good luck in Minnesota, Jason!
the American hero of hockey in does days.
My all time favorite hockey moment
wish these guys were scary good again
they looking like it now
Believe! !!!!!
A decade and a half later and they’re back
Couple more years. I predict cup in 2026
There's probably no way to verify this, but these old Sabres playoff goal videos have to be getting better ratings than current Sabres games
The feels
The fact that a video has existed on TH-cam for nearly 20 years is baffling
The only series-clinching shorthanded overtime goal in NHL history...
loved this team so much.
God, this was such a good year. Hope he does well in Minny, he'll definitely be missed in Buffalo.
The population of pominville goes up
Miss those Sabres so much!
I wish RJ could live through one cup win. He's suffered nearly as long as Joe's Leafs.
still get goosebumps watching this. Can remember where I was, in my bro's room just going nuts calling and texting all my friends who were also going nuts.
NOW DO YOU BELIEVE!! omg goosebumps is right. i love these sabres.
I was at that game!!! LETS-GO-BUFFALO! WOOO!
I wish i lived in Buffalo, I love this announcer.
BEAUTIFUL!!
JASON POMINVILLLE!!!! SHORT HANDED!!!!!! Fuck I love RJ.
Go Sabres baby, making history in 2007! FIRST NHL TEAM TO COME BACK FROM 0-3 IN 32 YEARS!!!!
Jason Pominville .... immortalized forever by Rick Jeanerette. Imagine that .....
this video still gives me chills
Welcome back, Jason!!
This call gave me chills.....
The best call of my life!
Welcome back to Buffalo, Pommers!!!!!
Things are even worse.
O what great memories I was in Buffalo Wild Wings in Amherst when this happened. The place absolutely erupted it was an experience to remember.
LOL I will always remember where I was when this happened... Back in Buffalo for the weekend with my best friend from Atlanta At Pockets on herdle ave. And it was awesome considering i was trying to explain how the area is with the Sabres.
jason pominville is amazing i love him!!
Good Luck pominville!! thank you for the many great years!!
just thought id watch this one last time. good luck pommer!
Even as a Flyers fan, the team you eliminated in the 1st round, you got to love Rick J's call of this goal. Good luck.
that was an amazing serie! sabres rocks

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! A great moment in Sabres lore!
Individual effort pays off thanks drew and Jason
Stafford wasn't there.
Buffalo had some great teams
Love the jerseys and top 5 NHL town
Montreal
Detroit
Buffalo
Chicago
Toronto
Then
Boston
New york
All cold and colder weather cities
I’d put Minneapolis/St Paul over Boston and NYC as hockey towns
we may have lost drury afinogenov briere but what we will never lose is the fans
That was the moment where we all went "Fuck?....Can these kids actually win it?" And they almost fucking did...
Everytime Jason scores a goal the population of Pominville goes up by one.
I miss this team
LOVE IT
the always amazing rick jeanneret
I remember the complete disbelief that we had eliminated Ottawa when that goal was scored.
My favorite RJ call
In OOOOOOOOO-VER Time!!! And the great Jim Lorentz...
Nice analysis.
2 legendary calls in only about 10 seconds. Classic RJ.
Not bad for a call-up from the Amerks! 2005-2006 Buffalo Sabres was the best team in Buffalo history but the injuries cost them the cup!! Maybe this year!!
Wow... we had a hell of team that year. I miss the hell of the winning Sabres
As sad as it is to see him leave maybe now he will actually have a chance at to hold cup! Gives me someone to root for in the playoffs this year anyway.
We got Buffalo back the next year to go to the Stanley Cup Finals, no worries. I suppose Sabres fans have good memories of this game though.
These guys are good, scaryyyy gooooddd
i will always rock my pominville jersey!
The Bills were scary good the last couple of years.
I miss this Pomminville
wow! what a team that was...can't believe we had to play game 7 in carolina with 4 ahl defensemen.
if only...
watching this makes me sad now instead of happy... Going to miss you Pominville.
Alfredsson is a forward so I can see him getting burned, but what the hell was Redden doing? This is the guy Ottawa kept and let Chara walk. Haha
leafyutube alfreddson didn't even TRY look at him!!! He just gives him a little love tap with his stick... It wasn't a special move either
And *Big Z* became the building block of a *championship team*
The sabres announcer Rick Jenneret is the best in Hockey History!
I BELIEVE!!!
yep. cant argue with that... rick is the beast broadcaster all-time ;)
RJ is awesome, and so are the Sabres!
Jim Lorentz was such a great complement to Rick. What a great moment.
I prefer Harry Neale.
beast
If I ever want to make it to commentary, thank you Ricky
one year earlier emery spezza phillips neil volchenkov and more were getting upset in the AHL playoffs by Wilkes-Barre who finished 14 points behind them in the regular season and never beat them once in the regular season but beat them in 6 including a triple overtime game 3 to cut the series to 2-1. i remember game 6 and the mohegan sun arena was rocking.
That save move works in NHL 94 for Sega Genesis all the time.
