Let me fit four of these to one of my Subarus! I'll figure out a controller that can at least emulate a standard transmission if need be. Actually, that'd be sweet to have customizable 'gear ratios' on the fly.
Than your Subaru will lose the purpose of awd because any mud or dirt condition will ruin the whole car
@@s4214988 you mean 'then' and the purpose of awd isn't necessarily for off roading. It helps when launching and cornering.
Great where can I get four of these with at least 70HP each with a controller featuring Re-Gen? 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern, and a flange style mounting bracket..

im lost at "reduces friction to one-fifth", the way i see it it has more friction points so what the heck? doubling structural strength of the wheel translates to heavier wheel. rotor weight reduced by 60% this only means that to achieve the same or greater braking force the materials would be super lightweight and expensive. and this looks like the wheel is completely sitting on SIX(just 6) bearings. to be centered.

Wouldn't it be easier and more efficient to use normal tub electromotor. It is without any transfers and could be larger in diametar what means more copper and iron.

Performance are great, but still need to improve protection from the environment; sand, pebble, dirt, sticky subtance than can rubberised or turn to plastic.
.
Even a simple universal joint are protected, from the enviroment..let alone gears and cog.

Too God damn expensive. No one is paying 10k for 100hp. It's not happening. You could pay for a engine swap of your choosing and probably still save some money. If you are worried about the savings you'll have over the life time of this product, you would still have a hard time trying to figure out where you would save more than 10k over either your car's or this products lifetime.
Just my thoughts. I love the idea. The development costs have to be phenomenal and they can only short change themselves so much before they go under trying to pass the savings, or they do the opposite and go under because they can't afford any losses initially and try to re-coup every dime plus some for this. It's a tough spot to be in I'm sure.
All running parts are not protected and they compare this to a bike? If bike is running at 100km/h a small stone will break its gear and people die

using 4 wheel motors it should give the best electric experience, lower the weight and also improve the balance, so why companies do that? ...25hp per wheel should be more than enough for a total of 100hp

10k for this. No where near worth it. Not in eventual savings long term or the amount of power one could add to their car for that amount depending on the car itself. Development/manufacturing costs are too high to pass down to the consumer for so little in return. I love the idea. The price will probably force this to fold.

in wheel hub motors didnt take off because of the problems of dirt mud and snow. there is a reason why tesla never made in wheel motors
