    Today we head back onto mainland Croatia and head further south to the beautiful medieval City of Dubrovnik.
    On the way we will encounter devastating bushfires and some heroic aeronautical extinguishing efforts to dampen the flames. Then we'll cross through a tiny corner of Bosnia and attempt to embark upon a Bosnian adventure...
    All before arriving at the southernmost point of our trip.

    Very entertaining, thanks! Croatia roads looks like a cross between Italy and Cyprus.

      It certainly has that mediterranean feel about it. But the roads were a bit better than the Italian ones that I've seen so far!

    Great vid Andy, great tour and so familiar :)!
    All those small towns along the coast line from Makarska to Neum are beautiful, if you take time, stop by and you'll see! Same is from Makarska all the way to Novigrad - Cittanova.
    The boarder crossing in Bosnia and Herzegovina that u tried to use was the local one, and only for locals from both sides with special permits to use, not the international one where everybody could use it, like the first one you entered.
    Greetings from Bosnia and Herzegovina man.
    Ride safe ;)

    Cardo Pac talk, quite expensive comparatively but works reliably and has lots of cool features. Had mine for two years, used on lots of tours with no issues. Great battery life too. Listen to music, FM radio, make/receive calls and maintain intercom, voice activated. I do think its worth spending a bit more to get better quality stuff, it may be your cheap and cheerful intercom that's letting the side down.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Christopher Gothard Thanks Christopher. That's the annoying irony. The AS200's that i used up to this point were pretty much infallable. But i tried something new and paid the price! The X1000's have since been retired!

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Christopher Gothard Oh and i think the next trip will be a little more local. Somewhere in Germany. But then hopefully a little bit more Alpine action.

    Hi Andy, nice work, interesting, off the beaten track back roads. When you do get up to speed, say 110-120kph how is that helmet & visor with buffeting. Keep em coming please.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Russell Locke Thanks Russell. The lid is mostly ok at speed, though turning the head sideways is a little tougher on the neck. Luckily the peak is detachable so i can remove it for long motorway rides. At sensible speeds it's been fine so far though.

  • @HippoDrones
    @HippoDrones 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wonderful mate, truly wonderful. That water looks so enticing and the mountains, awesome. The fire is pretty scary, did you ever find out how long it took them to contain it?

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Hippo-Drones It does, doesn't it! And I went very light on the colour processing so as not to spoil it! No idea how long it took with the fire, but I heard that while we were there it was mostly already over! Horrific! 😨

    • @HippoDrones
      @HippoDrones 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andy Man Cam the wildfires in California are a natural cycle I think and although horrific and cause a lot of loss of animal life, it all comes back stronger a season or so later. I hope the forests don't take too long to recover in Croatia

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Hippo-Drones Sure. I understand the cycle as far as the wildlife is concerned. The real tragedy is when people's homes go up with it! Sadly they don't regrow! 😂

    There is no road from Neum to other places in Bosnia and Herzegovina. If you want to go from Neum to Čapljina or Mostar you need to go through Croatia. They are saying that they will build a road, but they dont have the money or if they have they are spending it in Muslim areas inland. Neum is 99% Croatian municipality so it isnt hard for them, Dubrovnik is close. If you want to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina you need to go to Metkovic - Gabela border. But on the other side of the border its same as in Croatia because Croatians are living on both sides of the border

    Great vids matie. Your camera keep shutting down because of your SD card. You need EXTREME version of your SD cards so they won't shut down. (this was a big problem on my GoPro Hero 5 Black.) If you use ULTRA version... sooner or later they will experience errors and shut down.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks New Guy. The card was a high speed, U1 / Class 10 card. It turns out that the camera was overheating. I tested it later in lower temperatures and it was fine. After a little research, it turns out that this model has a bit of a heat problem at it's highest setting! So the X1000's are no longer on the AMC team!

  • @HladniSjeverniVjetar

    It was a year with over 900 fires in Croatia, so the fire department was stretched quite thin, it was very similar in Italy and Spain some crazy temperature during summer and probably some dumb people not taking care of their fires near forests.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +CPUspeed Ian, with his (ahem) shaft had ZERO faff. I had to refill the scottoiler twice. But before the oiler it was a nightmare. I had to lube every day(OCD), and adjust twice within one tour. All on a Sidestand which just made it all unbearable!

    What a great video again, I enjoyed it so much.. although it was slightly annoying to hear "Bosnia" so many times...as in fact Bosnia is located at least 100 kilometers north of the location you were filming. You were actually trying to get in Herzegovina, which is not any different from Dalmatian hinterland and also populated with the same nation i.e. Croats.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Peter Ogrin Thanks very much Peter! It's all very confusing! There's a border crossing, but it's the same country! 🤔

    • @peter93794
      @peter93794 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been a bit misunderstood. On the other side of a border crossing there is another country, Bosnia and Herzegovina, but geographically wise this is Herzegovina, Bosnia starts more than 100 km to the north. It's like you would be driving for example nearby Edinburgh and saying you're in England, but not mentioning Scotland.

  • @ExtremeDeathman

    Why exactly did they dismiss the GTR? Was it so badly damaged? Or did Ian not trust the old battleship anymore after the incident with HMS Stelvio?

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to say. Structurally it was fine. But all the fairings and engine casings were horribly scratched and broken. Must have been a close call, but ultimately more cost to fix than to write off.

  • @garthhowe297
    @garthhowe297 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Beautiful scenery. My driveway is wider than most of those roads though. Traffic between towns seems very light on your trips. I guess the cost of petrol and cars keeps lots of people off of the roads ??

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha! Yeah it was tight in places! I think the astonishing lack of notoriety of Croatia as a holiday destination means less traffic. That said, I think this particular vid was on a Sunday. The next episode has a LOT more people on the roads. But still not nearly as bad as UK.

    • @385x01y
      @385x01y 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Most people use the newly built motorway because it is faster, and they miss all of this. I remember the trafic on the cosatal road (jadranska magistrala) before, it was a crawl. It seems that nowdays motoring enthusiasts are more numerous than the locals.

      +carol mc That's interesting to hear. So far i find the leg position a tiny bit more cramped than the versys. But somehow the layout makes it comfortable. I've got some small geometry mods in mind to improve it though. Sadly i don't think I'm a good enough rider OR commentator to take that job. Would be bloody good fun to give it a try though!

    Versys for EVA!! Jus' sayin. There aren't many bike that are tourable and light enough for sketchy roads. Tracers might be excellent as well, though.

    Did you ever get the radio problems sported? I am a bit of a Ham fan myself and as I sit here typing this I have a little Chinese made Ham mobile beside me that cost a staggering £30 shipped from China. It's a Baofeng (I pronounce that, BOW FENG) attached to £10 flexible antenna you can roll up and put in your pocket. It is VHF/UHF and will reach from Bromley to Harrow which Google Maps informs me is 18.32 (29.48 km). I use mine to listen to and occasionally chat with, the river craft on the Thames and various other traffic.
    I bring this up because it occurred to me that such a radio could be a better option for you guys. A ham radio would probably not do unless you have a licence (Although getting caught transmitting on a bike would be an art form I doubt has ever been perfected) A PMR version (www.electronics-notes.com/articles/connectivity/licence-free-radios/pmr446-personal-radio-service.php ) could be worth a try. Many come with plug in Mics and earphones that I think could be easily adapted for bike use.
    I would strongly suggest getting a pair of radios equipped with CTCSS tones to help avoid frequency congestion in big cities.
    All VHF AND UHF radios are line-of-sight radios but in reality this is more flexible than it sounds. The signal will hit something solid and bounce off which often means it will eventually arrive at the other radio anyway. You cannot rely on that though.
    Some countries do not allow the use of these radios and others allow you to listen but not transmit. How the hell they could catch a biker transmitting while on the move is beyond me. Doing so in a major port or next to a police car at the traffic lights, whose occupant just happens to have a radio tuned to your specific frequency next to him on the seat could, theoretically, get you busted but I mean......
    "Sorry ossifer Plodnicsky. I am from the UK and I had no idea you were not allowed to use a radio in your lovely country. "OW.., PLEASE LET ME GO! I AM JUST A POOR FLOWER SELLER FROM LANDON TARN. I don't mean no 'arm!"
    Ahem. Sorry about that. I went all Pygmalion on myself then.
