As soon as Konstantin made the FACTUAL STATEMENT that slavery was the NORM prior to Western/Christian culture, everyone got extremely uncomfortable and tried to shut him up.
Not western, British. That particular element was British, brought about as a direct result of Britain being one of the worst affected places by the barbery corsairs for the best past of 200 years.
The philosophy undergirding British society was Christian. The same is true for American society. The Founders planted the seeds of emancipation in the founding documents. In the same way, it wasn’t the Civil War that ended slavery in the U.S. That happened to be the culminating event - like the Barbary pirates in Britain.

You know what this debate reminded me of? An old soviet anecdote: An American and a Soviet meet. They start arguing about which country is the most free. The American says: “America is the freest country. I can go to the White House and say that Reagan is a fool. Nothing will happen to me for that!” The Soviet replies: “So what? I can also go to the Red Square and say that Reagan is a fool. And nothing will happen to me either!” This is what they are arguing about being schooled in Qatar, and completely ignoring Konsts points. That’s the beauty of their “freedom of speech”

those viewpoints people show here are really scary, especially the points on the so-called genocide on gaza thats not being protested at all. i was also rather shocked by the anti jewish and anti israeli introduction to this sham of a debate
British journalist Tim Sebastian was the original moderator. After that there have been too many Middle Easterners moderating. The 'debate' is fluff and people like Konstantin are wasted being a speaker. However I give him credit for at least getting through to a few people. I haven't made an opinion yet on Steve C, but unless I missed something he didn't offend me and had credible comments. Fatima was useless and the female moderator was terrified when the topic of the Slave Trade was brought up.

Not a single person of Arab origin has the tiniest right to speak about slavery with that particular history. This Kisin actually has done some reading.
I hate this talking point all it would take is reading the definition of colonisation or colony to realise it’s fallacious. Why not address reality and talk about what has caused our country to rely so heavily on legal immigration?
It doesn't rely on it, mass immigration has been a detriment to the UK. How ever, I will say it is not the only issue, the social welfare state has not just drawn in millions of migrants that become a burden on the tax payer but has also created several generations of lazy natives who rely on the state but should they be motivated to get a job, they are not competing for those jobs with their local peers anymore, but the entire world. Stop the immigration and get rid of the welfare state.

What's the common Arab phrase to describe black Africans? It's not pretty. The term "Slav" to refer the people of Eastern Europe is because these people were commonly the slaves of Arabs.

Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to be enlightened! Today, we bring you the sage wisdom of Abdulaziz and Fatima, two bright-eyed students from Qatar, here to set the moral compass of the decadent West straight. Fresh from their first semester at Oxford, paid for by their oil tycoon fathers, these champions of virtue are ready to tackle the West's ethical shortcomings. Armed with lattes and MacBooks, they've embarked on a crusade to educate us on the finer points of morality. Watch in awe as Abdulaziz, between sips of his ethically-sourced flat white, lectures on workers' rights. Pay no attention to the fact that his family's summer home was built by migrant laborers working in questionable conditions. That's irrelevant to his profound insights! Marvel at Fatima's passionate discourse on gender equality, delivered from the comfort of her luxury apartment. Her driver waits patiently outside, ready to whisk her away to the next demonstration. Who says you can't fight the patriarchy in Prada? Our dynamic duo is horrified by the West's materialism, frequently discussing it over caviar brunches and champagne. They're not afraid to call out Western hypocrisy, right after they finish their shopping spree on Oxford Street. So gather 'round, you misguided Westerners! Let Abdulaziz and Fatima guide you to the moral high ground. Never mind the irony - it's merely a Western construct they've risen above. Remember, folks: there's nothing quite like a lecture on ethics from those who've never had to wrestle with the complexities of the real world. Thank you, Abdulaziz and Fatima, for your priceless contribution to our moral education!

No one got uncomfortable, their just laughed at his framing. They laughed because he said Britain ended it. The key point here was who ended it.
Laughter is often a mask for discomfort.
The philosophy undergirding British society was Christian. The same is true for American society. The Founders planted the seeds of emancipation in the founding documents.

So gather 'round, you misguided Westerners! Let Abdulaziz and Fatima guide you to the moral high ground. Never mind the irony - it's merely a Western construct they've risen above.

Here is where a lot of the irritation with middle eastern immigrants that move to Detroit is coming from: We hear all about how you hate where you live, it's oppressive to women, few human rights, no freedom or liberties... complaint after complaint. But, then you move to Dearborn Michigan, and you waive your old country's flag and try to make things the way they were WHERE YOU LEFT!! WHAT?? WHY? You're an American now. Get with the program! When Mussolini was in Italy, my great grand parents packed up, and never looked back! And so did millions of others a hundred years ago and still do. But not the Middle Eastern culture! It's like, HUH?? 😮 Zero sense!
The Arabs started slavery before the transatlantic slavery started; and konstantin is correct - the Brits did put a stop to it.
The transatlantic slave trade was evolution; Africans and Arabs took slaves across North Africa, then the Portugese competed using ships, and then switched to South America when that was invaded, followed by many other European traders. It took the Royal Navy to end it as best it could, but of course has continued where it can, including Arabia.
@@colinelliott5629 Who did the Portuguese learn from? Malaria was endemic, but, the further you got into Africa, the more endemic it was. African's taught the Portuguese & Spanish about North African slaving. African's were profiteers and enablers of Africa's slave export. Until the Reconquista,,, it was European slaves being imported into Africa; Cordoba was Europe's most profitable slave market (export).
Started it centuries before only recently ended it… (or rather, replaced it with human trafficking)
Well yes. The term slave has its origins in the word slav. The slavs, who inhabited a large part of Eastern Europe, were taken as slaves by the Muslims of Spain during the ninth century.
Bro - slavery was probably present since the beginning of humanity

Wow, I have to give it to Konstantin. Even Douglas Murray seemed a little rattled when at these shamefully biased 'Doha debates', but Konstantin held his own admirably.

That’s probably because he learned from Douglas’ debate.
Cool cucumber!!
I'd love to see Ms. Bhuto debate Douglas Murray on anything. She would be made to look like another wealthy, entitled, privileged member of the corrupt Bhutto political dynasty.
She accuses 'billionaire' families of controlling the press, lol. Oh, the hypocrisy here.
Her own billionaire family has been guilty of this many times in the past.
I' definitely 'do' her though.
Is anyone else sick of hearing the word "narrative" repeated over and over again?
Yes , though buzzwords like that let you know who you are dealing with very quickly .
Why don't they use the old expression 'story' 😅
'narrative' is the new 'i can't even'
I am, but of course I did not attend university to study for a worthless degree. Sorry I am a moron...
Ditto for ‘conversation’.
The guy really said there is more free speech in Qatar.... Fuck me... 😂😂😂
Because he is criticising every other country but Qatar.
Exactly! And no one laughed at him? No one wanted to point out how he is only be allowed to express his opinions there because they are state sanctioned. I'd like to see him ague for a pro-Isreal perspective and see how long he lasted then.
I almost fell out of my chair.
And said it in full conviction.
Sometimes I have to try really hard to attribute ignorance to something that is so akin to malice.
It is a free speech society, no one challenges him on his biases…. 😂😂
She says 1 million people are being displaced from their country. So why aren’t the other Arab countries welcoming them? They aren’t. Why is that?
Great point! That's an aspect of the refugee crisis that doesn't get nearly enough attention. 🤔 While the West often bears the brunt of criticism for not doing enough to help, the Arab countries that share cultural and linguistic similarities with these refugees aren’t exactly rolling out the red carpet either.
It’s likely a complex mix of factors that keeps them from being more welcoming-like the economic burden of resettling large numbers of people, social and cultural resistance to diversity, and internal political struggles within those countries.
Hitler said the same thing for Jews and European countries
@@mohammadsufiyaan5330 The rhetoric used by some countries in the Middle East toward refugees is eerily similar to the hateful propaganda that targeted Jews under the Nazi regime. It’s a reminder that demonizing vulnerable groups of people and turning a blind eye to their plight can lead down a very dark path.
Because they care about their culture.
@@mohammadsufiyaan5330 Except Jews were never considered Europeans. They are called Jews because they are from Judea (modern-day Israel), and are not from Europe, hence they were always treated as outsiders.
The presenter and almost everyone except Konstantin were very biased. The graphic, which left Konstantin speechless for a long time, shows this clearly. Thanks Konstantin for the clarification. Here are your words as a reminder: "I'm still speechless from that incredible graph you showed earlier where China was the most trusted media place in the world. I mean this is hilarious. It's like if you went back to the Soviet Union you would have got 100% Trust in Media because the entire narrative is completely controlled. China is a country in which you can't even Google tianan square and a whole bunch of Western Apps are unavailable. The idea that we would put them on the same chart as Western countries is preposterous in and of itself."

"Absolute free speech" Only when it comes to criticizing western values. Ask them what they think about absolute free speech when it comes to criticizing Islam.
Kisin,
You should be awarded the medal of honor. Truly brave and patient. Thank you.
It does take some balls to sit in a room where everyone essentially is against you for 1 and half hour, throwing random shit at the wall. Not only that, the set up of the show was weirdly one sided (against the "west"), the clips, the other guests, the crowd, the blabbering students who could not articulate a single thing through out - which is weird considering it should be a neutral debate, or maybe not?. Do you know why Constantine only answers one part of your question, man up front? Its because it was a non-comprehensive mess about resources and umm something... Same can be said about the people who seem to confuse being heard v.s. free speech. . You are not entitle to people listening to your ramblings. Is the west perfect? No, nothing is. Is it the best we´ve got, yes. If you want to get your hands dirty, go back to your corruption infested dictatorships and start there.
I am new to Kisin and triggerometry, but totally agree. Kisin has balls of steel to sit in the western country and listen to hypocrites who pretend Russia China and certain Arab countries are so great. I thought this chat was in Doha, it's in England...;)

I don't believe that what Konstantin started about slavery is fundamentally true though it is true history. Removal of slavery was made possible by an individual revolution (we as people needed 80% of human resources in order to sustain life), that in turn made WW1 and WW2 possible and I would remind everyone that Brittn was the lead contestant in the arms race. And all the great powers were preparing for war. It was a time of opportunity.

I don't agree with his idea of deporting people who chant things or locking them up but then again, if you're trying to prove you are an immigrant who is grateful for the chance to live free in the west ..........
That Arab medical student talking about slavery as if it is happening NOW in the West was very confusing ... until I realized he uses the word "slavery" just as they use the word "genocide" about Palestine.

As an Irish woman even I can give credit where credit is due.
And the brits not only ended slavery in many lands either through force or by putting themselves in debt to do so, they also had one of the shortest periods of engagement in the act of slavery compared to most other countries and cultures.
Yes they did a lot of horrible things throughout history, or rather whatever regime was in power at that time period did those horrible things, the people that came after put a stop to it.
They also did quite a few amazing things to be proud about.

Britain certainly has a bloody and storied history with Ireland... And yet we are able to live side by side in relative peace, even though there was active terrorism on both unionist and nationalist sides within my lifetime. No-one would say that The Troubles were a good way to resolve the conflict, but the fact that both sides were able to step away from the bloodshed is a testament to the strength of society.
@@lostalone9320I think the reason for that is shared genetics. Most English families have Irish, Scots and Welsh family connections and vice versa.
